Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: Terminal Descent

The wind tore at them as they fell.

Steve, Monroe, and Alexander glided through the night sky, their suits catching just enough air to steer through the narrow descent corridor. The city lights flickered beneath them like a living map. The wind howled in their ears, buffeting their bodies as they adjusted their angles in real-time. Below, the Triskelion loomed larger and more menacing with every second, its helipad bathed in stark white light and lined with sentry teams, unaware of what was coming from above.

Alexander adjusted his course, the micro-thrusters on his suit firing in short bursts. "Vector to southeast tower. Avoid direct overhead approach—they'll spot you."

Steve responded instantly, shifting his angle toward the northern spire. "Copy. We split. Regroup inside."

Monroe angled his trajectory downward, spiraling toward a loading bay tucked beneath the landing platform. "I'll breach from below."

The trio scattered like falling shadows, disappearing into the wind, their silhouettes blending into the night.

Behind them, the HYDRA VTOL wasn't far.

It descended with surgical precision, its angular frame cutting through the air like a predator stalking its prey. From its undercarriage, armored doors slid open to reveal a strike team inside—fully armed and prepared for deployment. Plasma turrets swiveled into position, tracking the falling targets but unable to get a clean shot due to the Triskelion's proximity. The glare of the rooftop lights interfered with the targeting systems, forcing the gunners to wait.

Alexander landed first.

He slammed onto the rooftop walkway near the southeast sector, his boots skidding across the concrete before he dropped into a low roll and came up in a crouch. The moment his boots hit, proximity sensors triggered. Red lights blinked on along the roof's edge.

Security teams burst from the access door.

Alexander moved like a shadow.

Tendrils of darkness erupted from his hands, forming spears that shot forward and knocked the first wave of agents off their feet before they could aim. His body moved with silent precision, weaving between stunned guards, disarming, disabling. One agent managed to fire a stun round—Alexander's shadow arm extended and caught it mid-air, then hurled it back with force. The stun pellet detonated near the guard's feet, knocking him unconscious.

Steve landed harder.

He collided with the upper deck, tumbled into a roll, and emerged with his shield in hand just as spotlights found him. The shrill alarm of perimeter breach blared through the upper deck. Doors slammed open as armed SHIELD operatives poured out.

"Unauthorized contact on the upper platform!" someone shouted through comms.

Steve didn't hesitate. Bullets erupted around him as SHIELD agents opened fire.

"I'm not here to hurt you!" he shouted, charging forward. "But I will go through you!"

His shield absorbed the rounds like a wall. One punch dropped the first guard. A sweeping kick knocked out another. He slammed the third into the control console of the launch elevator, then activated the override.

The lift shuddered as it began to descend.

Alarms began to scream throughout the facility.

Below, Monroe landed near a loading dock. He crashed into a stack of crates, scattering supplies across the floor. Groaning slightly, he pushed to his feet and drew his firearm. Sparks flew as he blasted open a maintenance panel, stepped inside, and vanished into the service corridor. The walls were tight, the ceiling low, but Monroe moved with practiced speed. Cameras blinked at his presence. He shot them out one by one.

"Accessing lower grid now," Monroe muttered into his earpiece. "No resistance yet."

The infiltration had begun.

And above them all, the HYDRA VTOL halted mid-air, turbines whining as it hovered in place, casting a long shadow over the helipad.

The rear ramp dropped.

One figure stood at the edge.

No cables. No parachute. Just silence.

The Winter Soldier stepped forward, rifle slung across his back, mask cold and expressionless.

And jumped.
