Chapter 1 - Existence stone.

Thunder roared..

Zach crouch above the rain soaked ruins above the gaping entrance, eye squinted. A line of figures shuffled towards the large black metal gate illuminated by the starry bright night sky.

He didn't blink, didn't move. His breath slowed to match the patter of the rain as he watched closely.

He'd been here many nights already, watching, waiting, calculating.

'Should happen any moment now..'

He checked his soaked strapped watch as it ticked,

' Remember Zach, three guards at the outer rim, one with a twitch, nervous, one a drunk and one professional... HE DIE'S FRIST.

He reminded himself, the watch ticked as a roaring engine was heard, a black van slowly approached in the distance.

'show time'

Zach moved, his black body suit blended into the night, he's steps muffled by the rain as he quickly slipped behind the van, with a smooth almost practiced motion he slipped out a thin knife, swiftly plugging it into the lock as he wiggled.

The door of the van made a thud, someone was coming.

Every moment felt like years as Zach fingers wiggles, after what felt like eternity a satisfying click was heard.

He dashed into the van making sure to close the Tailgate dorrs behind him that'll give him at least 3 seconds, if he gets caught now.... death is imminent.

In front of him was a mangled corpse, too old to be recognized, the strong smell permeated the air but Zach wasn't bother by that.

He quickly slid the thin knife through the carcass. A clicking sound echoing behind him. 'Darn it', he quickly slid into the carcass of the dead beast instantly, not waisting a hairs breath.

"Eww, I can't believe I forgot how, awful this smells", a voice echoed," yeah but this carcass is worth more that 7 years of your salary", an angry college shot back

He could feel the carcass beginning to move, "aye yoo this thing is ten times heavier than before" a voice said, the carcass was being moved by hand by a couple suited men, with Zach inside it try to muffle his breathing.

The stench was unspeakable..

The rot was deep, maggots had long since come and gone, what was left was a soggy, burnt flesh, half preserved by chemicals, inside the holled chest cavity zach stiffened.

Zach watched, through the slited hole he made.

'Twenty four steps from the entry gate to the frist turn, thirty two to the inner gate, one glyph mark above the third torch, a keyhole shaped like a screaming face, the vaults runes circle every six minutes the last shift change was about 9:00'

He checked his stolen pocket watch. 9:05. Perfect. The carcass stopped moving, now was his chance.

The guard dropped the carcass at a dead end, or what seems to be a dead end.

"Sigh.. I wonder why no guard is stationed here", a guard yawned.

Zach knew this was his time, the guards change posts every 6 minutes, he had to act.

The carcass wiggled violently as a black figure sprinted out, a silver glint flashed as a dagger was lodged deep into a guards throat, the other guard looked in horror as he opened his mouth, but before words could come form, Zach moved jamming a dagger into his throat with one swift motion.

Zach, not waisting a hair breath, twisted the third torch a clicking sound was heard as a key hole shaped as a screaming face appeared on the supposed dead end, Zach quickly took out a key and inserted it.

"Click"

The granite stone like entrance creaked open.

He was at the back of the auction house, the hosts voice was audible shouting recents bids and judging from the the silence they were half way into today's bid.

Zach has spent weeks..... no months preparing for this moment, he's managed to get this far unnoticed but from now on it's going to be war.

Zach stopped around until he spotted it, a crystal in a showglass, glowing and pulsating with energy.

The existence stone.

Zach quickly took out a pair of thermal proof gloves and slid them on as he slowly held and removed the showglass.

The existence stone was before him.

He sighed.

....

Alarms blarred like loud thunder as awakeners flooded the room in no time only to find the existence stone and the showglass perfectly in place.

"What's going on", an officer stepped into the treasure room.

"The alarm went off sir, a slender woman an awakener with a slender figure approached her armor glistened, she was probably of a high rank.

As they discussed, Zach who held his breath, inside the carcass, was already planning his next move.

'Three....two....one..."

*BOOOM*

An explosion reverberated throughout the, chamber, as the awakenings, quickly unsheathed their blades, at that exact moment Zach rushed at the exit.

"Hey stop that intruder"

"Shit", Zach cursed, as expected the senses of an awakened was able to detect him.

By this time the auction was halted, guests ran towards the exit as flames engulfed the stage, filling everywhere with thick smoke, Zach mad his way through this chaos as he, with haste took off his black body suit revealing a tuxedo inside, he took off his mask, and blended in with the guests.

The motion was so swift and effortless that the awakeners had no lead, only the black body suit Zach left on the ground.

Zach of all people knew this was not over.

"Seal the exit"

The giant black metallic gate on the outside was sealed shut trapping over 200 guests including Zach.

"Hey kid", someone approached Zach smiling—Hennet the captain of the grinners, " I never thought you'd actually make it", he smirked.

Zach was called by this theif organization called the grinners for the existence stone, he delivered them his excellent skills while in return they gave him the auction house building plan.

"You got the goods", Zach responded by lifting his tuxedo a little revealimg a glowing crystal.

"Good...". He nodded satisfied.

The middle aged man's phone rang...and he picked it up.

"The doors are sealed shut boss"

Hennets face sank..., "what"

Zach smirked...

"Sir what are going to do?", he panicked.

"We..?"

Hennet back away.

"Who's we?, you're on your own kid, honestly I thought you'd die before acquiring the existence stones, but you somehow survived I guess it doesn't matter" Hennet shrugged.

"You bastard."

Zach's face turned red, he gritted his teeth.

You should've used your brain kid, now you're a theif and a fugitive who's stolen the most valuable item in the state" Hennet shook his head.

Better luck in the after life, he waved good bye as he disappeared into the crowd.

The knights began inspecting the guests one by one, would only be a matter of time before he was caught.

"Thank goodness I'm a lone wolf" he smirked, the feint he put up for Mr hennet was actually quite a performance.

Zach quickly rushed to one of the batheom stalls.

Earlier this week, he paid a janitors kid five silver coins to discribe the houses waist disposal system. Three years of trash, failed items and faeces down the drain.

It wasn't sealed...

-they never imagined something desperate—or stupid enough to use it-

At the base of a toppled display, Zach Zach kicked open a cracked vent grating.

Here goes nothing.

He slid inside and disappeared into the Houses guts.
