"Tell me about them, what are they?"

Having resolved the issue of Mr. and Mrs. Zhao's burial, Zhao Fusheng focused all her thoughts on the cases of the Demon Suppression Division.

Fan Bisi said helplessly:

"There are three matters in total, one of which can be considered an old case."

As he spoke, a strange feeling arose in his heart.

When the previous Division Commander, Zhao Qiming, was alive, the Wan'an County Demon Suppression Division was formidable. Before Zhao Qiming lost control, his character and conduct had inherited that of his father's and were still considered upright. Generally, if there were cases, as long as he judged the danger to be not too high, he was occasionally willing to handle them—among past Division Commanders of the Demon Suppression Division, his character was already exceptionally outstanding.

Therefore, there was still a lot of time spent discussing ghost cases within the government office, somewhat similar to the current situation.

But back then, Zhao Qiming was a true ghost controller, unlike Zhao Fusheng who had come into it halfway.

He was a second-generation ghost controller, one could say it was truly a 'family trade.' His understanding of ghosts was far deeper than Zhao Fusheng's, yet he still ended up like that.

Zhao Fusheng, on the surface, seemed to control the same ghost as him, but their understanding of the danger level of ghosts was not on the same level.

Fan Bisi shook his head inwardly but still said:

"The first matter: someone once discovered a bizarre horse-drawn carriage near Huangquan Village."

These bizarre cases were related to Zhao Fusheng's accumulation of merit and were also closely tied to her life. She listened very attentively, trying to sort out clues from them.

But just as she was waiting for Fan Bisi to continue, Fan Bisi didn't go on but instead brought up the second matter:

"The second matter, is..."

"Wait."

She interrupted Fan Bisi's words, "This matter of the horse-drawn carriage hasn't been explained clearly yet."

"That's just how it is."

Before Fan Bisi could reply, Fan Wujiu said:

"How can there be so many detailed clues in ghost cases? Any clues obtained are usually exchanged for human lives."

Fan Bisi nodded:

"Wujiu is right. There was nothing strange about this carriage originally. The strangest thing is that the person who mentioned the carriage disappeared mysteriously the next day. And among those who initially encountered this carriage and mentioned it to others, some of those who heard about it would also disappear along with them."

"..."

Hearing this, Zhao Fusheng was startled.

She hadn't directly dealt with ghosts yet, but she had witnessed the terrifying scene of the original Zhao Fusheng dying at the hands of a vengeful ghost in her dreams. However, this was the first time she had heard of such a bizarre incident, and it was indeed chilling.

"It's unknown what this carriage looks like, nor what abilities the ghost driving it has. The reason someone reported it was because the reporter, Liu San, had previously heard a neighbor mention this carriage, and the next day, the neighbor disappeared without a trace."

Speaking of this, Fan Bisi also showed a cautious expression:

"This Liu San was terrified at the time and came to the Demon Suppression Division to report the case in a state of panic."

This kind of case, even when Zhao Qiming was alive, he probably wouldn't have dared to provoke.

No clues meant that the people of the Demon Suppression Division needed to risk their lives to obtain warnings to inform future generations.

Every clue and characteristic of a ghost was tested out by their predecessors with blood and lives.

"And then?" Zhao Fusheng asked.

"There was no 'then.' This Liu San is undoubtedly dead." Fan Bisi shook his head. "This is also the old case I mentioned. In fact, as early as the year before last, there were reports about this ghost carriage, but no one could solve it. Without exception, all those who reported it eventually disappeared, not seen alive, nor their bodies found dead."

"..." Although Zhao Fusheng had repeatedly heard Fan Bisi emphasize the terror of vengeful ghosts, his emphasis was not as profound as the feeling Zhao Fusheng got when he mentioned a real case at this moment.

"This ghost carriage comes and goes without a trace, has no fixed abode. No one knows what it looks like, or what kind of ghost drives it."

Fan Bisi said:

"Its rules for killing, its methods, we know nothing about them."

Never mind investigating its existence; even if its location were found, probably no one would dare to venture onto this mysterious and bizarre carriage.

"That's not handling a case; that's going to one's death."

'Hoo—' Zhao Fusheng let out a long breath.

From Fan Bisi's introduction, she also realized that this case was temporarily beyond her current capabilities. She put this case aside and then asked:

"What about the second case?"

She didn't rashly insist on her own way but chose to compromise for the time being. This made Fan Bisi pause for a moment, then he took a deep look at her, a hint of hesitation appearing in his eyes for the first time.

"The second case: a bizarre incident occurred in Changsheng Town, under the jurisdiction of Wan'an County."

Zhao Fusheng nodded, signaling him to continue.

"About four months ago, people from Changsheng Town came to the Demon Suppression Division to report that a family surnamed Li in the town, a household of seven, all lost their heads overnight."

Zhao Fusheng's heart skipped a beat, but she didn't make a sound.

"The cause of this family's death was bizarre. The government officials visited the nearby neighbors, who said they heard no strange noises at night, nor did they hear any screams. And these corpses were also very strange. There was no blood spurting from the wounds; instead—instead—the incisions were neat..."

Fan Bisi, for a moment, didn't know what adjective to use. Fan Wujiu beside him interjected:

"In the words of the local government officials, it was as if someone had plucked a melon from a vine."

"..."

This case was also undoubtedly bizarre.

"Correct." Fan Bisi nodded in agreement.

"Was there any further news on this case later?"

"No." Fan Bisi said:

"Vengeful ghosts kill completely at random. Time, place, or objects could all be key information that triggers a vengeful ghost's killing. If we can't find this information, then we'll be completely clueless, like headless flies, in extreme danger."

"What can be known currently is that this Li family must have triggered the vengeful ghost's rules, equivalent to walking into the ghost's 'field of vision' before dying."

After Fan Bisi finished speaking, Fan Wujiu also said:

"We ourselves were in danger at that time and didn't have the extra energy to deal with this case in Changsheng Town. It was left unresolved later on."

Hearing the two brothers finish, Zhao Fusheng couldn't help but frown.

She fell into deep thought.

From the current situation, the Fan brothers had mentioned two cases related to ghosts, but both had very few clues, and they sounded quite dangerous.

These two brothers held a grudge against her and were also bent on leaving Wan'an County. Before she woke up, she had heard the two discussing using the method of diverting disaster eastward, luring someone else into Wan'an County's Demon Suppression Division to transfer their life-souls out.

After Zhao Fusheng expressed her willingness to take on cases again, and the two brothers failed to persuade her otherwise, it couldn't be ruled out that they wanted to use a ghost to kill her.

After Fan Bisi finished talking about the two cases, seeing Zhao Fusheng fall into deep thought, he didn't make a sound, waiting with a faint, unreadable smile for Zhao Fusheng to make her own decision.

After a long moment, Zhao Fusheng raised her head:

"What about the third case?"

She asked again.

Fan Bisi hadn't expected that even after he had said so much, she still insisted on asking about cases.

He turned to look at Fan Wujiu. The two brothers' eyes met, and they were stunned for a moment. Only then did Fan Bisi let out a soft sigh:

"The third case happened right here in Wan'an County town."
