Shen He gave Banner a moment to think.
Mentioning the cage was more of a strategic jab than a genuine threat. Banner could usually regulate his anger well, but emotional triggers were still unpredictable for him—particularly when "containment" was mentioned.
Shen He wasn't fond of working with emotionally volatile people. He preferred calculated interactions, where caution didn't have to be constant.
Banner's thoughts were in chaos.
The facts couldn't be ignored—no matter where he hid, the outcome was always the same.
"…Fine."
But just as Banner murmured that one word, his voice cracked into a roar: "No—!"
Shen He's pupils contracted sharply.
Banner hadn't yet lost control, but his face flashed a vivid green for a split second.
"What's going on? This is my body!" Banner's panic was real.
In the past, Hulk only emerged when Banner's emotions snapped. But now, Hulk was pushing forward on his own, without rage to drive him—just will.
This terrified Banner more than anything. He feared that someday, Hulk would take over permanently, leaving no Banner behind.
"Dr. Banner, stay calm," Shen He said gently as he stepped forward.
But Banner's form warped violently. He flickered erratically between his human form and Hulk's bulk—an internal tug-of-war. Hulk was trying to break out... without waiting for Banner's permission.
This sort of involuntary transformation hadn't occurred until Thor: Ragnarok in the cinematic multiverse.
"Not the cage—don't Hulk!"
Banner's torso swelled into Hulk's musculature. Surprisingly, Hulk—who previously only growled or smashed—forced out coherent words.
The mention of a cage had struck a nerve, resonating with Hulk's more juvenile instincts.
"…Forget it. Banner, we may as well talk to him directly," Shen He said, sighing. He pulled a short blade from his backpack and stabbed it into the earth.
Evil Spirit Infusion—Haunting Armor!
Holy-white armor wrapped tightly around Shen He, a visual signal of escalation.
Hulk exploded fully from within Banner, letting out an enraged roar as he lunged with a clenched fist toward Shen He.
Boom—!
Shen He, now empowered by the Emperor Gu strengthening core and his Level 34 tier, braced against Hulk's devastating punch. The soil beneath him cracked into radial shockwaves.
Even so, Shen He's bones groaned. Hulk's base power was easily Level 5—possibly stronger if you considered his anger-amplification trait.
"Qi Mu."
Shen He clenched his jaw and flung a Primary Strengthening Card from his inventory.
Hulk was suddenly hurled skyward, launched by Qi Mu Nanxiong, now strengthened to Level 24. His telekinetic force had evolved past earlier chapters, now capable of fully countering brute physical force with refined psi-energy.
"No matter how strong you are, brute strength means nothing in midair," Shen He remarked, stretching his sore muscles. "This technique is called: Baby Hulk, Fly."
"Qi Mu, keep him rotating in the air. I want to see what Hulk becomes when his anger peaks."
Shen He burned through all of today's Magic Points to bolster Qi Mu to max-tier combat capacity. After all, five-star followers required significant mana upkeep, especially psychic-type S-class heroes.
In the comics, Hulk grew stronger with rage—but was still pummeled by Thanos and left traumatized. Even Tony Stark, in his Bleeding Edge Armor, couldn't fully beat him. Shen He was curious how strong this version of Hulk was.
"Master, forces approaching," Qi Mu Nanxiong said calmly, his gaze locking onto the horizon.
Shen He didn't need to look—he could already hear the low rumble of military transport and helicopter rotors.
"…Useless cannon fodder," Shen He muttered. "Jeanne, Ryougi Shiki—take Violet and deal with them. Just suppress. Don't kill."
"What about Hulk?" Jeanne d'Arc asked, watching the green behemoth flung into the sky again like a balloon.
"I'm here," Qi Mu replied before Shen He could.
"…Alright. Just be careful, Master."
Jeanne turned to leave with Violet, gently reminding her not to overdo it—even if they were provoked.
Ryougi Shiki followed, long blade in hand, glancing once at Hulk—who now resembled an out-of-control child. Her killer instinct didn't stir. Instead, she sighed. No need to kill someone like that.
Shen He re-centered his attention on Hulk. The creature tried to clap his palms, generating shockwaves to force freedom from Qi Mu's grip. But the psychic net held firm.
Qi Mu's telekinesis was like fluid steel—soft yet unbreakable. Hulk's strength smashed against it repeatedly, but he couldn't break free.
The watching captives were stunned. At first horrified, then numb, and eventually fixated on escape.
This battle had shattered their understanding of power.
To them, the strongest beings were once billionaires in flying armor—or rage-filled green giants wrecking cities. But now, true strength had a new name:
Chaldea.
By this point, over 90% of Earth's shadow governments, special ops, and military factions had agreed: The Chaldeans are not human. They are forces of nature.
—
Shen He had not expected Baby Hulk Fly to last two hours.
By the time Jeanne and the others returned, Hulk's furious roars had faded into instinctive flails—more survival response than wrath.
"…He's stopped resisting," Qi Mu said finally. He released his hold, allowing Hulk to crash into the earth with a deafening thud.
A crater smoked in the dirt—and crawling out of it was a dazed, naked Bruce Banner.
"…What just happened?" he asked hoarsely.
Banner remembered being pushed to the edge of his consciousness—unable to hear or see. Hulk had seized control completely.
Then, without warning, Hulk retreated.
"Dr. Banner," Shen He said, offering him a cloak and a hand, "Hulk isn't the monster you fear. He's just a child with a nuclear warhead for a toy. What he needs is education—and Chaldea can provide that. You're free to decline."
Banner glanced around at the containment circle.
"…Do I even have a choice?"
Still, for the first time, he felt something like peace.
This was the first transformation in which no one had been hurt.
Maybe, just maybe, there was a way to live with the Hulk.
"…Let's go."
Shen He nodded. "As for these people—" he motioned to the bystanders, "—the Ten Commandments will take them for interrogation. The rest? Warn them. And tell their handlers in government we'll be in touch."
This entire performance wasn't just containment—it was a display: You have nowhere left to run, Banner. The audience included military and intelligence agencies. Shen He had no plans to antagonize the world—but they would respect Chaldea.
The Hulk incident in India was now resolved.
By dawn, Shen He and Banner were flying back to New York.
He regretted not hijacking a Quinjet when S.H.I.E.L.D. collapsed.
"Dr. Banner, you'll work with our scientific research division," Shen He said, handing him a sleek collar-like device. "Wear this—it emits a calming frequency directly to the brain."
"Tony made this?" Banner asked curiously. He was already reading Chaldea intel.
"No. You'll meet the one behind it soon."
In truth, Shen He had acquired it during a special dungeon run, where he summoned Doctor Gutai—an SSR mind-tech expert. Though not formally contracted yet, Gutai had already provided schematics using powers similar to the psychic-regulators from Academy City.
Banner fastened the collar and activated it. A wave of serenity washed over him.
"…You really weren't planning to lock me up."
"Unless you break something expensive," Shen He grinned. "Then we'll consider the cage."
"…Fair enough."
"Settle in. I've got a meeting."
Shen He opened his comms. "Coulson, summon Tony, Steve, Natasha, the twins, and Skye. Meeting in my lounge. You too."
Banner wasn't invited. The topics were Chaldea-level confidential.
Tony had already arrived. He expected a debrief after Shen He's return.
"So… I heard you brought home a monster?" he teased.
But Tony had changed. He was calmer, sharper. No longer reckless.
His worldview had shifted—ever since Shen He had forced him to analyze battle footage of Misaka Mikoto Alter vs. Academy City's elite, Tony had started reevaluating everything he knew about power.
He'd seen a godlike girl shatter dimensions with a railgun.
And now, he was face-to-face with the people who called her junior class.
