Chapter 149 - Chapter 304: Leon is Suspiciously Getting Clingy

"Understood."

Leon nodded, "But... your grandmother and Oullette are both really mysterious. They went around in circles and still wouldn't say exactly what they produced up there in the Far North. If they told us, maybe we could predict the empire's next move."

Rosweisse shrugged helplessly, "Maybe, just like us, they're considering certain reasons and can't speak about it directly."

"Makes sense. Eh, no big deal, anyway. There are still Master and the others acting as insiders in the empire. It shouldn't be too hard to get intel. Let's see next time we meet if Master can figure out what exactly the empire put so much effort into acquiring."

Rosweisse smiled, "Yeah."

"Sorry for the wait, here's the tea," Oullette brought over three cups of hot tea and continued chatting with the couple.

She didn't reveal much about the Far North.

When Rosweisse asked where her grandmother was now, Oullette only said she would return in a while.

"By the way, your grandmother repeatedly reminded me that you must wear this wedding gift at all times," Oullette said.

Rosweisse's gaze fell on that pendant necklace, "Wear it at all times?"

"Mm, they say it's made from some kind of magical crystal stone. Wearing it long-term can absorb impurities and toxins from the body, resulting in whitening and beautification."

"...I'm just over two hundred years old. I don't need that kind of intense skincare yet."

Rosweisse shook her head with a bitter smile but still agreed. She reached out to take the necklace and carefully stored it away, "I'll do as Grandma instructed. If you see her, please pass that along for me."

"Okay."

Next, Oullette chatted with the couple a bit about Noah's studies and some domestic trivialities.

One cup of tea later, the chat came to an end.

"Sorry to bother you, Headmistress. We'll see ourselves out," Rosweisse slightly nodded.

"Mm, take care, both of you."

The couple turned and left the principal's office, one after the other.

After the two left, Headmistress Oullette let out a relieved sigh.

After confirming the footsteps were far away, she went to the bookshelf in the office and gently turned a nearby chandelier. Immediately, the bookshelf opened to the sides, revealing a secret room behind.

Headmistress Oullette stepped inside.

Inside the room stood a silver-haired woman.

"I've already given the original crystal to your granddaughter."

Oullette said, "Sigh, couldn't you have handed it to her personally and told her what it is?"

Veronica Melkvei stood quietly in front of a magic array, back facing Oullette, and said softly, "Did you forget what I told you before? Little Rose's husband is very mysterious. I don't want him to know too much about the Far North."

Oullette walked to Veronica's side and looked with her at the milky-white energy cluster quietly floating in the magic array, "You... don't trust him?"

"It's not that I don't trust him. A man Little Rose chose surely wouldn't be bad. It's just... I don't know him well enough yet."

Oullette nodded thoughtfully, "Then, the original crystal for Isa, did you deliver it personally?"

"Mm."

Oullette's mind stirred slightly, then she asked again, "You really think it's fine to give Noah's power to these younger ones?"

Upon hearing this, Veronica narrowed her eyes slightly and didn't answer directly. Instead, she asked in return, "Angelina, come to think of it, do you know how humans pass things on?"

Oullette shook her head.

"Humans only have a lifespan of a few decades. The long-lived ones only make it to a hundred years. Compared to dragons, they're almost negligible."

"But they still keep expanding their understanding and constantly learning new knowledge."

"They live out their short lives with great effort, and then pass on their achievements to the next generation."

"Humans grow generation after generation like this, and keep progressing."

"So I think, this increasingly absurd and chaotic era may no longer belong to us old folks."

Veronica looked at her old friend and smiled, "Then let's leave the ancestors' achievements to our descendants, and let them end all this. Isn't that nice too?"

———

"Leon... I-I'm so nervous."

"Don't be nervous. Everything has a first time. Just give it a try. You need to bravely take the first step."

"But I still don't feel confident inside..."

"It's fine. I'll guide you from the side. First, stretch out your hand and slowly feel the flow of power. Mm, that's right... just like that. Do you feel it?"

"I feel it... it's a little hot, and it keeps expanding outward..."

"Mm, see? Even though it's your first time using this method, you're doing great. Keep going. Yes, just like that."

"Leon! Look, is that some white stuff coming out?"

"There really is! Keep going, Rosweisse! Hold steady!"

"I... I think I'm losing control, Leon. It's a little too hot... Let's stop."

"Sigh... alright. That's a shame, we were already this far in."

On the lawn of the Silver Dragon Sanctuary's rear garden, the couple sat cross-legged, facing each other.

Rosweisse calmed the burning sensation in her hands and then looked up at Leon, "First of all, thank you for helping me practice condensing the Primordial Power."

"But next time, could you please not use such... ambiguous wording when helping me practice?"

Leon blinked and said innocently, "What was ambiguous?"

"Stuff like 'first time', 'don't be nervous', 'don't stop'? Those lines sound way too weird, okay?"

"Then what about your 'white stuff', and 'too hot to handle'? Aren't those weird too?", Leon countered with sound logic.

"I-I was led astray by you!", The queen also responded justifiably.

General Leon rolled his eyes, "Come on, dragon lady. We're not some pure boys and girls who've never dated before. What's wrong with using some adult words? As long as we understand each other, it's fine."

"What do you mean, Casmodeous? Are you implying you've dated someone before?"

"Huh? Doesn't being with you count as dating?"

"It doesn't!"

"...Whatever you say."

Leon let out a breath, leaned back, and lay down on the soft grass.

Not long ago, when he met up with Master and Rebecca, Leon asked Master to help look for books about Primordial Magic, and Master agreed.

But Leon and Rosweisse didn't put all their hopes on Master being some kind of treasure trove who could pull anything out of a fourth-dimensional pocket.

So after returning, the two of them started researching Primordial Magic on their own.

Just as Rosweisse had said before, Primordial Magic was too ancient and mysterious. There wasn't a single book or document in existence today that recorded it in detail.

So they could only dig up scraps related to Primordial Magic from the corners of various historical texts.

After a while of exploring, Rosweisse found that the prerequisite for using Primordial Magic was to condense "Primordial Power".

If ordinary magic was used, it would significantly weaken the effects of Primordial Magic.

At first, Rosweisse couldn't grasp the knack for condensing Primordial Power.

This had nothing to do with talent or diligence, because with Primordial Magic, nobody had a clue where to begin at the start.

But a few days ago, Rosweisse was surprised to find she could faintly feel a force completely different from regular magic surging inside her body.

So these past days, she had been trying to draw that force out from within.

Today, with Leon's help, Rosweisse made a bit of progress.

She opened her palm, and a small white energy flame danced and flickered in her hand.

"It's kind of weird. Just a few days ago, I couldn't feel any Primordial Power at all. Now I can already condense it," Rosweisse said.

Leon lay on the grass and gazed at the sky, "That just shows how good my guidance is."

Rosweisse snorted lightly and kicked his calf, "Stop being narcissistic."

Leon chuckled and sat up, looking at Rosweisse's bright and beautiful face, "Then it means my wife is super talented."

Caught off guard by the compliment, the queen smiled proudly, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly, "Hmph, good that you know."

She paused, then suddenly realized something.

Coming to her senses, she raised her foot and kicked Leon again, "Stop getting close to me. Who's your wife? You should respectfully call me Your Majesty the Queen."

"Yes~ yes~ Your Majesty the Queen."

This dog man had been especially sweet-talking lately. Who knows what weird medicine he took.

'Could it be his blockhead finally opened up and realized how great this queen is?'

'Or... is he cooking up some evil plan?'

Based on Rosweisse's understanding of him, this guy wouldn't suddenly become so smooth-tongued for no reason.

'There has to be something fishy!'

But the truth wasn't as complicated as the queen imagined.

Leon just remembered that, in the future, he promised his daughters he would be more proactive in his relationship with Rosweisse when he got back.

Now that life was truly back on track, he got a little timid again.

But how could General Leon be someone who breaks his promises?

Since he promised the girls, he had to follow through.

If being proactive was difficult, then just say some sweet nothings the dragon lady liked to hear and make her happy, that works too.

Women, so hard to please when they're mad, but also so easy to please when they're happy~

Rosweisse looked at Leon, who was grinning foolishly to himself, narrowed her eyes, and asked, "You're definitely scheming something, aren't you?"

Leon's thoughts were dragged back by this sentence. He was a little dazed, "What... scheme?"

"You've been coaxing me nonstop lately, saying a bunch of mushy stuff you never said before. Something's off. You're definitely up to something, aren't you?"

"Nope."

Leon said, "In your heart, am I really that kind of person?"

The queen thought seriously, then nodded solemnly and answered clearly, "Yes."

"...Even though I'm being misunderstood so badly, I'm still really happy."

"Why?"

"Because at least I still exist in your heart."

Now it was Rosweisse's turn to be speechless.

"Casmodeous, I still liked you better when you were wild and rebellious, always saying you wanted to chop me up. Please go back to that."

Rosweisse sighed, "If you want something, just say it directly. Don't fake sweetness with all those mushy words."

'Because if you keep saying it...'

'I might actually start believing it.:

"What do you mean fake sweetness? I meant every word from the bottom of my heart, okay?", Leon explained sincerely.

"Oh please, you only keep it up for like three minutes. Once you get what you want, you won't keep saying it every day."
