Legends tell of the day balance was born.
On that fateful day, two children came into the world under a sky split in half—one side bathed in radiant daylight, the other shrouded in the soft curtain of night. From their first breath, they were unlike any other. One cried with a voice that echoed like a hymn through the sun-touched heavens; the other, silent as the void, opened his eyes and darkness flickered across the walls.
Dayne and Teneb.
Prophets spoke of them as the Scales Incarnate—the first and only twins born with absolute affinity to Light and Darkness. They weren't opposites. They were compliments. Where one gave, the other took. Where one healed, the other dismantled. Their balance was so profound that the world itself resonated with their presence. Trees bowed toward them, rivers changed course, and beasts quieted in their wake. Even the stars above blinked curiously that night. They were declared the emissaries of the Primordial goddesses of Light and Darkness.
Their existence wasn't just power—it was a phenomenon.
And when they fused, they became something more.
Equinox.
A being of unparalleled equilibrium, where annihilation and salvation could occur in the same breath. It was said that should Equinox ever tread on a battlefield, only a god could challenge him.
Unfortunately for Equinox...
One was already waiting.
Xandros floated midair, the breeze of displaced energy ruffling his dark coat. He stared at Equinox with curiosity now, not amusement. The single blow that had made him bleed—even for a moment—earned them his respect.
"Alright, Equinox," he muttered, rolling his shoulders. "You've earned this."
His eyes flashed. The air rippled.
Equinox charged again, arms stretched wide, twin energies swirling around his limbs like planetary rings. But this time, he met resistance.
Crack-KRAKOOM!
A massive thunderclap erupted as Xandros slammed his palms together. From the clash, lightning arced outward like a serpent unleashed, striking Equinox square in the chest.
BOOOOM!
Equinox tumbled midair, flipping thrice before catching himself. His chest smoked. His golden skin had black scorch marks.
"That... was not ordinary thunder," Equinox said, voice deeper now.
Xandros smiled. "You're right. That was Thunderclap, Level Five. Want to see Level Six?" (A/N: He was just bullshitting, he gave it levels right there)
Before Equinox could respond, the sky roared.
Storm clouds spiraled overhead, summoned from nothing. Thunder rolled across the atmosphere like a stampede. In the center, Xandros rose higher, his body glowing with elemental fury.
"I was hoping not to use these," he said, his voice low, his expression solemn. "But I honor strength with strength."
He raised his hand.
The temperature dropped.
Winds howled.
Then came the fire.
From his left, a tidal wave of ice burst forward, jagged spears of frost aiming for Equinox's wings.
From his right, a tsunami of crimson flames surged, engulfing the entire airspace around them.
Equinox threw up an energy shield, but the dual elements cracked it immediately. One froze it, the other evaporated it.
KA-KRACK!
Xandros blinked into existence behind Equinox, fist glowing.
BOOM!
The punch sent the fusion entity careening into the mountains below, pulverizing an entire ridge upon impact. Shockwaves followed, uprooting ancient trees and leveling ruins.
The spectators from the academy watching on holographic screens gasped.

@CrimsonTalon47: BROOOO DID HE JUST MAKE THE SKY BLEED?? 😱
@TooMuchManaLol: Thunderclap was beautiful ngl. This ain't a student, this is a whole final boss.
@XanFan3000: I'm naming my first child Xandros. Boy or girl. IDC.

Back in the battlefield, Equinox rose slowly, arms covered in burns, frost, and blood.
"You're more than expected," he admitted. His voice was two tones now—the blend of Dayne and Teneb. "But I am not done."
He raised his hands, and the environment shook.
The ground below warped. Mountains shifted. Space itself twisted as Equinox prepared a technique born from their unity.
"Behold: Celestial Nullification."
The sky darkened. Stars disappeared. For a moment, it felt as though reality had lost its coordinates.
But Xandros had already seen through it.
With a flick of his wrist, wind exploded in every direction, pushing back the fabric of the spell.
He drew from his Supreme Core, utilizing his elemental talent, forming tornados spears and launching them. Equinox countered with beams of balanced light-dark matter. They clashed mid-air like titans trading galaxies.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Their speed escalated.
Xandros was everywhere—dodging, parrying, launching elemental barrages. Fire laced with wind, ice bullets coated in lightning, even molten earth risen from deep beneath the planet.
Every punch Equinox threw was met with an equally devastating counter.
Every beam of light was blocked by a wall of crystallized darkness, summoned by Xandros using his unique energy manipulation talent.
Equinox finally screamed, flaring with blinding light and pitch darkness simultaneously. The shockwave knocked birds out of the sky. Mountains cracked apart.
He launched a beam that could erase a city.
Xandros extended one hand.
And absorbed it.
"Not bad," he muttered, flexing his fingers. "Now try this."
He vanished.
Then reappeared in front of Equinox with his palm to their chest.
"Thunderclap: Level Seven."
A deafening crack followed by a light explosion as a golden sphere of condensed sound, lightning, and force expanded outward in an instant. Equinox was sent flying into the upper atmosphere, crashing through clouds like a meteor going in reverse.
Xandros teleported above him.
"Infernal Descent."
He brought down both fists engulfed in flame.
Equinox hit the ground like a comet.
The resulting crater glowed with molten rock. Shockwaves rolled out for miles. Students from across the battlefield fell to their knees.

@MiniMage23: Did... did he just combo fire and gravity?? 😨
@GigaChadSorcerer: Equinox is gonna need an Equinoxpital after this.
@SolarBeats: I can't even dodge a dodgeball in gym class. Bruh.
@XanGodMode: We are witnessing ART.

At the bottom of the crater, Equinox lay still. Their fusion had destabilized. The glowing lines across their body flickered.
Xandros landed slowly, eyes cool but not mocking.
"You fought well," he said. "But this is where it ends."
Equinox smiled through bloodied lips. "We have never... been pushed this far."
Xandros extended a hand, not to attack, but to honor them.
They took it.
The light of their fusion dimmed. In a burst of harmless energy, Equinox split back into Dayne and Teneb. Both were unconscious, but smiling.
Xandros placed them gently on floating stone slabs and turned to walk away.
As he walked away, he chuckled with satisfaction.
He was having so much fun.

High above, the host of the assessment for the Academy each year watched through a cosmic scrying orb, his fingers steepled.
"He held back," he whispered. "Even now."
Behind him, instructors stood in awe. One trembled. Another wept.
"We must begin preparations," the host added.
"Preparations for what?" someone asked.
The host looked to the stars.
"For the monsters we are to accept this year."
