(Hi readers here is the new chapter. Next chapter is already on my discord server. Attendance please!!!)
….
Battle Beast was finally up and moving, and Gojo was right beside him. They were walking through the clean, sterile hallways of the GDA facility. Gojo wanted to quickly check in on the other Guardians.
He knew they were all basically okay now, thanks to the GDA's top-notch medical care, and they'd probably be released in just a few hours at most, but he figured it was the "responsible teammate" thing to do.
Battle Beast, still looking a little out of it but much more alert, let out a low growl. "Where are we going now?" he rumbled, his deep voice echoing slightly in the corridor. "Is it to fight the Viltrumite you mentioned?"
As they walked, GDA workers in their neat uniforms hurried past, practically diving out of the way to make room for the duo.
Gojo, with his white hair and sunglasses, was already an unusual sight, but Battle Beast? With his massive, furry, lion-like features, his giant axe (which he was still carrying), and now, the comically oversized, fluffy pink bunny ears perched on top of his head, he looked absolutely terrifying to normal people.
And really, why wouldn't he? He was a terrifying beast-man. The bunny ears just made it weirder.
Gojo replied in his usual nonchalant, breezy way, "Whoa there, big guy, slow down. I said you'd get to fight a Viltrumite eventually, not like, right this second. You gotta be patient." He gave Battle Beast a pat on his massive arm.
"And to be honest, if it wasn't for me, you'd probably still be floating around in space somewhere, bored out of your mind for months, maybe even years, looking for a good fight. I'm actually giving you the super-fast, express lane to a Viltrumite beatdown. Think of it like... a few weeks, at most. A little vacation first, maybe?"
Battle Beast grumbled again, clearly not thrilled about waiting. "Then... what... are... we... doing... here?" he asked, his voice slow and deliberate, like he was trying very hard to keep his frustration in check. He then pointed a giant, clawed finger up at the ridiculous bunny ears still wobbling on his head. "And for how much longer do I have to wear... this thing?"
Gojo just smiled, his eyes crinkling behind his sunglasses. "What, you're not liking them or something? I think they really bring out the color of your eyes." He then got a slightly more serious look. "And besides, you haven't eaten anything for, like, three whole days. You must be starving. So, for now, you just eat. Get some food in you. I've got to go check up on a few things, some boring hero stuff. After that, I'll pick you up, and we'll get you settled in at the team's base. And believe it or not, Earth actually has a lot of pretty entertaining things you might like. We can watch some anime, maybe get you a proper costume... without the bunny ears, unless you really want to keep them."
Battle Beast let out another low growl, then put a hand on his stomach. "I... am a little hungry, I suppose," he admitted, the bunny ears drooping slightly.
Soon, Gojo and Battle Beast reached the GDA cafeteria. It was a big, bustling room, filled with people in GDA uniforms eating and chatting during their break time. Maybe it was lunchtime, or maybe it was just always this busy. Gojo walked straight up to the man behind the food counter, a friendly-looking guy in a white apron. "Hey there!" Gojo said cheerfully.
"My big, cat friend here," he gestured to Battle Beast, who was currently trying to make the bunny ears look less ridiculous by scowling even harder, "is super hungry. He'll take whatever you've got. Meat, fish, a whole stack of whatever you have. He's got a really big appetite, so make sure you give him a lot. Like, a lot a lot."
Gojo then turned to Battle Beast. "Alright, BB, you can take anything you want to eat, or just tell this nice man what you're craving. Though, seeing as you're kind of a cat... or a lion... or something... I'm guessing fish and meat are high on your list. Eat whatever you want, as much as you want. I'll finish up my boring talks as fast as I can and come back to get you as soon as possible, okay?"
….
Gojo was now making his way to Mark's room, or Invincible's room, as it was in the GDA medical wing.
Mark's mom, Debbie, was supposed to be there too. Gojo knew he was a bit late, by about two whole days, actually.
To be honest, he hadn't really wanted to show up right after the fight when Mark was in really bad shape, practically knocking on death's door.
It just wouldn't have felt right. But now, Mark was stable. The doctors said he was recovering well and would probably wake up within the next 48 hours, as long as everything went smoothly.
Gojo strolled casually down the long, white hallway, his hands in his pockets. He'd gotten Mark's room number from one of the staff members at the front desk.
When he finally reached the room, he paused for a second. And, oh, well look at that! Atom Eve was already there.
She was standing by Mark's bed, leaning on a cane for support. Her leg was still messed up from when Battle Beast had swatted her aside during the fight.
Gojo slid the door open and stepped inside. There was Mark, lying on the bed, looking small and fragile.
He had all sorts of tubes and wires connected to him, part of a life support system, and an oxygen mask covered his nose and mouth.
To be honest, for someone who had almost died, had his eardrums burst, couldn't even talk, and had his arms and legs bent in ways they really shouldn't bend, he was healing incredibly fast.
'Viltrumite DNA, I guess,' Gojo thought with a shrug. 'Pretty handy stuff.'
Gojo walked into the room, his usual black sunglasses on, his white hair looking a little messy, like he'd just run his fingers through it.
Atom Eve turned around when she heard him come in. "Oh, Gojo," she said, a little surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Gojo gave her a lazy wave. "Hey, Eve," he replied, his voice light and teasing. "Not even a 'How are you doing, Gojo?' or a 'Thanks for saving my other leg back there, Gojo, you're the best!' huh? Seriously, Eve, you really should listen to me when I tell you not to fight someone. If you had, you wouldn't be needing that fancy cane right now, would you?"
Gojo then walked past Eve and plopped himself down on the chair on the other side of Mark's bed. He turned to Debbie, Mark's mom, who was sitting quietly beside her son, her face etched with worry.
Gojo offered her a small, reassuring smile.
"Hi there," he said, his voice a bit softer now. "I'm Gojo Satoru. I heard you wanted to talk to me?" He then tilted his head a little, his smile becoming a bit sheepish. "And, uh, just to let you know... I'm really sorry for not making it to that dinner you invited me to. I've been super busy, you know, other stuff came up. And then, well, I was actually about to head over... but then this whole mess happened," he finished, gesturing first to Eve and her cane, and then to the unconscious Mark lying in the bed.
