Chapter 78: Dugu Yan A Secret Fan of Bibi Dong?
It was already evening when Han Li finally emerged from his cultivation, awakening voluntarily.
Well, mainly because he was hungry. That was one downside of the Douluo Continent even someone like Guang Ling, despite being a Title Douluo, still had to eat regularly, and his appetite was terrifying.
Rubbing his empty stomach, Han Li made his way up to the platform.
As soon as he reached the top, a delicious aroma filled his nose Guang Ling and Dugu Yan were already there.
"Where's the senior?" Han Li asked casually.
"Grandfather said there's a type of soul beast nearby with exceptionally delicious meat, so he went to catch one. He should be back soon," Dugu Yan answered without even looking up.
Just as she finished speaking, Dugu Bo's voice echoed from midair.
"I'm back! You didn't wait too long, did you?"
"Senior, your timing is perfect I just finished cultivating," Han Li replied with a smile.
"Perfect, then try this venison. I caught a young one today let me show you my cooking skills."
Dugu Bo raised an eyebrow at Han Li and Guang Ling, clearly eager to show off.
As they chatted, dinner quickly turned lively.
Han Li had to admit Dugu Bo's cooking was quite good, genuinely delicious.
After dinner, the four of them didn't immediately disperse. Instead, they brought out reclining chairs, lying back comfortably to enjoy the cool evening breeze and the starlit sky.
"Senior, my master brought the special medicine today. Tomorrow, I plan to oversee Yan 's consumption of it," Han Li turned to Dugu Bo and said.
"Anything you need me to do? Just say the word," Dugu Bo sat up slightly and offered.
"Not really. There are no risks just a bad taste."
"Though, you might want to prepare in advance. After taking the medicine, Yan will probably need a bath immediately, so it's best to have plenty of hot water ready." Han Li chuckled.
"Got it, no problem," Dugu Bo waved off the concern like it was nothing.
"Oh, by the way, Senior, after Yan 's martial soul evolution, my master and I will likely be leaving. I've already found my third spirit ring, and we'll probably head to Star Dou Forest. Have you and Yan thought about your plans?"
Han Li asked casually, as if it were just a part of their usual conversation.
Hearing his words, the grandfather and granddaughter pair were momentarily stunned. They exchanged glances it seemed they had been so caught up in excitement recently that they hadn't even considered this.
"You'll be returning to Spirit City right after?" Dugu Bo sat up.
"Most likely. We've been away for quite a while it's time to head back."
Guang Ling lazily chimed in, making his stance clear.
"Yeah, I agree with Master. Tian Dou is nice, but it's not a place for us to stay long term." Han Li nodded in agreement.
Dugu Bo didn't respond immediately. He first looked at his granddaughter, then at Han Li, lost in thought.
After a long pause, Dugu Bo finally spoke again.
"Xiao Li, logically speaking, since I've chosen to follow you, I should go with you to Spirit City. I don't have much attachment to Tian Dou Empire just some minor businesses, nothing important."
"But I still owe someone a significant favor here, and I need to repay it. How about this? Let Yan Yan go with you first. Give me no more than a year actually, half a year should be enough to settle my debts. After that, I'll join you. What do you think?"
Dugu Bo spoke in a testing tone.
"Senior, this is entirely your decision. We agreed before your only responsibility is to protect me. Following me isn't mandatory, and I wouldn't restrict your freedom. Besides, once I return to Spirit City, it's not like I'll be in any danger. Take your time and handle your affairs as you see fit."
"As for Yan ..."
Han Li leaned back, just as Dugu Yan, who had been listening intently, turned her gaze toward him. He smiled and asked, "Yan , what do you want to do? Come with me to Spirit City or wait to go with your grandfather later?"
"I'll go with you. I plan to join Spirit Hall."
Dugu Yan answered decisively, surprising Han Li.
Seeing his reaction, she continued, "Honestly, I've always wanted to visit Spirit City. I heard that the current Supreme Pontiff is a woman, and I want to see her in person. I originally planned to enroll in Spirit Hall Academy, but my grandfather stopped me. He told me he had an old nemesis in Spirit Hall, so I had to give up on the idea."
She glanced at Dugu Bo, who gave an awkward smile but didn't object to her decision.
Huh? Dugu Yan, you're actually a fan of Bibi Dong?
Han Li was momentarily stunned but quickly chuckled it made sense.
Strong female soul masters were rare on the continent, and Bibi Dong was not only one of the most powerful but also the ruler of Spirit Hall. It wasn't strange for Dugu Yan to admire her.
Too bad… you're going to be disappointed. The moment you choose to stand by my side, Bibi Dong won't be giving you any favors.
"Alright then, Yan , come with us to Spirit City. If you want to enroll in the academy, I'll arrange for you to be admitted when we arrive." Han Li agreed without hesitation.
"Hmm? You're not going with me to the academy?" Dugu Yan looked at him in surprise.
"Academy? I've only visited before I've never actually attended, and I don't plan to."
Han Li stretched lazily, enjoying the breeze on his face.
"Then how do you train? Do you just stay home all the time?" Dugu Yan asked curiously.
"My master built me a special simulated training environment. I also have tutors for theoretical studies. At my current pace, I can graduate whenever I reach the required level. As for combat experience, I have my master and senior uncle as sparring partners."
"Everything the academy provides, I already have and more. So why bother going?"
"Oh, and I have an older sister who grew up with me. When we get to Spirit City, I'll introduce you. If you want to go to the academy, you could try convincing her to join you otherwise, she'll just bury herself in training all day."
Han Li closed his eyes, answering casually.
"With those training conditions, no wonder you don't want to go to school."
Dugu Yan sighed enviously.
Her family once had a simulation training ground, but after her father passed away, Dugu Bo had it sealed.
While he wasn't poor, he wasn't exactly wealthy either. His skills weren't suited for making money, and he refused to align with any major power.
Providing for her was no problem, but building a whole new simulated training area just for her? That was unrealistic.
That was why she had joined Tian Dou Imperial Academy to use their training facilities.
"When we get to Spirit City, you can use my training resources. I don't use them all anyway. And if they don't suit you, I'll just pay to have a new one built for you." Han Li said casually.
Spirit Hall gives out free training grounds just for joining?
Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan both looked at Han Li and Guang Ling, their expressions as if they were staring at walking piles of gold soul coins.
Noticing their looks, Guang Ling opened his eyes and scoffed, "What are you thinking? Xiao Li means he will pay for it himself."
