April 4, 2005 – 02:45 (Sri Lanka Time)
Alejandro used left thumbnail to delicately unscrew the very basic two sensors for the alarm. When done, he pushed the door open and deposited the sensors on the ground next to it while Coralis walked outside, followed by the twelve prisoners they just released.
"Run this way, you'll get to a main road. Don't look back and don't say a word until you get to the road," said Coralis before they opened their mouth to thank them.
They nodded and turned around to run away. For one last time, Coralis and Alejandro turned to look at a camera, above the emergency back door. Smiling, they waved at it and walked away.
Once they were out of range from any camera, they swapped their jacket for their cloak, put on an invisible glamour and took off.
Alejandro told the Shadow Elementals they made it out and were on their way to South Africa while Coralis reached out to Sonylla.
"The first half of our mission is done. We made it out."
"SWEEET! I'll pass the information on to Sebastian. Your man will be happy to hear that when Sebastian picks him up."
"I can't believe the elders had Frank come to Headquarters. I could have gone there during the week to drop a report if all they wanted was my version of events on records. Anyway, I'll reach out to you again when we're in position for the second part of the mission. Expect me to connect to the CMMA war room fixed hologram at 19:00 your local time, just before we storm the compound."
"One-way connection, right?"
"Yes. They can see and hear what's happening, but I won't see and I won't hear them. I can't get distracted by what's going on there and I can't walk around with a holographic image of the CMMA war room. My hologram will be on my wrist, so the image will be shaky most of the time. Remember: make sure General Tobly, and anyone else, doesn't record anything. We're fine with the CMMA following the mission because Jourmol is an active agent, but we don't want any recording, in circulation or archived, showing members of the Shadow Elementals."
Sonylla stood in the middle of the CMMA war room and relayed to the elders present what Coralis just told her before she sat.
"You have a mind-link with her?" said General Tobly.
"Yes. How else do you think I knew they were planning something tonight? She can't send me pigeons from jail."
She pulled her hologram and reached out to Sebastian.
Meanwhile, in Montreal, Sebastian was hovering above Frank's rooftop when he answered Sonylla's call and saw the CMMA war room floating above his hologram.
"On this day, April 3rd, 2005, at 16:30, it shall be written and recorded that on their 10th night of captivity, Blue Thunder and Alejandro Salinz escaped prison before the human authorities in Sri Lanka could carry on their death sentence," said High Elf Frizzo, pulling a pen out of his cloak and a holographic tablet. "It shall also be specified that their escape happened on April 4th, 2005, at 03:00 local time in Sri Lanka, on the day they were set to be executed by silver bullet and fire at the stake at noon."
"Ooh, Frank will be thrilled to hear that. I'm flying above his apartment right now. I was about to land on his rooftop when you called."
"I was hoping you'd be with him when I called you. Note that it was earlier than that when they made it out of there. She mind-linked me after taking off."
"I've recently changed my hologram for a model that automatically records a call and auto-delete after 30 minutes if I don't save the clip."
"I think I need to change mine for one of those. All right, I'll end the call now. Retrieve the recording and get over here with him."
At 16:40 Montreal time, Sebastian landed on Frank's rooftop. With his invisible glamour still on, he jumped down on the front balcony, then by Frank's stair door beside the second-floor apartment. Realizing he couldn't remove his invisible glamour when standing by their front door, he sent a text message to Frank. When Frank opened the door down the indoor stairs, Sebastian rushed through it, climbed up a few steps and removed his invisible glamour.
"I didn't think this through when I jumped down the front side of your building when still invisible, sorry about that," said Sebastian as he passed again through the door and closed it behind him before following Frank down the front staircase.
They crossed the street and entered the park.
"Sonylla did it the other day, she said she removed it right by the neighbour's door, hoping people would think she came out from it. I avoided neighbours this afternoon. I told work I needed tonight and tomorrow off because of an emergency involving my wife, but I didn't want neighbours to pay attention to when I'd be leaving to pick her up," said Frank as they made it to the spot Coralis took off from the first time he rode with her.
"Ready?" said Sebastian, handing him an invisibility cloak while grabbing his stick keychain with his other hand.
"Yes. I'm not a fan of flying on that thing," said Frank, pointing at Sebastian's stick, "but I just want to get to her as soon as possible and honestly, I do want to follow what's happening. I understand why they want her to portal directly to their Headquarters."
A few minutes later, when Sebastian entered the Ontario skyline, he pulled his hologram, located the recording he was looking for and brought his hand holding it above his head. He pressed to open the recording of his earlier conversation with Sonylla.
"You'll want to see this. Sonylla called me just before I landed on your rooftop."
Still holding tight to Sebastian, Frank looked up to watch the holographic video floating above Sebastian's head.
"She made it out of there. It's official."
"Yes. It probably was around 2:45 their time when they made it out, but when she reached out to Sonylla, it's when they could truly say they escaped without getting caught," said Sebastian as he slid his hologram back into his cloak.
"I don't know how to explain how good it felt watching that recording. I would watch it on repeat if I could."
"I don't doubt that. I haven't told Stephanie yet. I saved the recording before landing and then rushed to your door. I'll call her soon. I first need to make sure we aren't followed."
Sebastian ended the call with Stephanie before landing by the CMMA headquarters.
"He's human. He can't come here," said the receptionist, pointing at Frank.
