Zane POV ~
"Hi, Zane," Knox greeted, his smile warm and casual as he strode confidently toward me, a sleek black bag swinging from his hand. Without ceremony, he dropped it onto the table with a soft thud.
My heart sank.
Fuck.
Just why the hell is he here?!
I shot to my feet immediately, offering a slight, respectful bow. "Hi, Alpha Knox," I greeted, forcing the words out as I swallowed hard. "You're here."
Yeah, I'm scared of Knox. Terrified, actually. The image of him gutting humans like fish...clean, precise, unflinching never fails to flash before my eyes whenever I see his face.
Sure, he told me he's a police officer, but that only makes it worse. I don't look at him and see law and order....I see someone who could just as easily be on the other side of the law. A predator in uniform. Someone I absolutely do not want to get close to.
