Chapter 38 - Chapter Thirty Eight-Meeting at Dongers

Sabrina frowned. She wanted to follow the hoodied guy when she heard Daisy's worried voice.

"Sabrina! Are you alright?." She questioned frantically as she looked at the fallen things on the ground.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I just saw—never mind."

"You saw what?." Windy asked as she stared at her friend in confusion.

She waved her hand, "Don't worry, I just thought I saw one of my male friends."

"Oh, alright then. Let's go," Windy handed an ice cream to Sabrina, "take, quench your taste."

Sabrina smiled as she took the ice cream from her. However, she kept looking back to see if she'd see the lookalike of Lexis again—older, but with blue eyes.

It was already quarter after seven when Sabrina reached home, but she didn't notice any sign of Lexis being around.

She placed the things she bought on the Nightstand of their room and headed down.

Taking the covered pancakes and grapes on the table that Naomi had prepared in the morning, she placed the leftover in the microwave.

She wore an apron and decided to make some spaghetti, her mind on the small fight she was having with Lexis, before recalling the blue eyed Lexis that bumped into her hours ago.

Could it be Lexis wore those eyes to deceive her? If yes, why did he seem older? She cleared the thoughts away. Lexis couldn't be that childish and stupid.

Maybe, just maybe it was her delusion. Her imagination. Her hallucination.

"Are you so lost that you want to burn down the whole kitchen?."

The baritone voice behind her jolted her out of her trance.

Only the did she perceive the burnt smell of the spaghetti.

She slapped her forehead and continued stirring the food.

She didn't need to turn to see the person behind her; she knew it was Lexis.

"Why didn't you come to my office for lunch?." Lexis asked, leaning against the door, watching her wipe her hand on a tea towel.

"I don't feel like it."

"Because you were being entertained by Owen?."

She eyed him due to his question , but said nothing. She continued stirring the food.

Lexis suddenly hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder "Are you still mad at me for calling the doctor?."

Yes, she was mad at him for doing that. She was mad at him for not trusting her enough. For not trying to have patience with her. She wanted to speak out, but she held her tongue.

She wanted to stay mad at him for a while.

Lexis caressed her hips before moving to her waist with his hands, making her suddenly want to melt. Her legs felt jelly, and her mind was in chaos—at how abnormally gentle he was rubbing her.

"My wife, I'm sorry," he kissed the crook of her neck, "I won't do anything again without your permission anymore."

"You're not sorry," she turned off the cooker, "and you will still do it again."

Lexis spun her around and carried her, placing her on the breakfast bar, so that he was standing in between her legs.

"I was worried about your health, Sabrina."

"I know my body more than you do," she slapped his hand away when he reached out to hold her chin, "I hate seeing doctors regarding this matter. It feels as though I'm reliving those days with my ex."

She couldn't forget those days, when she would react up just by being touched on the waist, or kissed on the cheek by Jason, how she'd meet from one therapist to the other, one doctor to another, looking for how she'd cure her phobia.

Hospitals were like her second home those days—always going there to seek treatment and cure but all she could get as response then was that the cure depended on her own body to stop rejecting intimacy.

"I'm sorry." Lexis rested his head on her chest.

Sabrina said nothing. She ran her hand through his thick, dark shoulder-length hair. She wanted to tell him about the blue eyed stranger that looked so much like him, but decided against it. He might probably say she was overthinking or insane.

"Lexis," she tapped his sturdy back, "get up, the food is getting cold. Let me serve so we can eat."

"Let's stay like this for some time." He tightened his hold on her.

Sabrina sighed, "Lexis—."

"You looked so tempting today. Every man had their eyes on you, and it was an eyesore." His complaint threw her off-balance.

"How?."

"That bastard, Owen. He couldn't take his eyes off you."

She chuckled, "Owen is a nice guy. I like his vibe. Do you know, he even knows my mom?."

Lexis looked at her, "You guys are talking that well?."

She nodded her head vigorously, her face full of smiles.

"He's a cool, sweet, nice, handsome—." Before she could finish talking, Lexis kissed her, shutting her up.

"I will take you to the company myself tomorrow." It was easy to detect the jealousy in his voice. He walked out of the kitchen.

Sabrina chased after him, "Wait Lexis! You can't do that!."

"Sabrina, someone is calling you." Daisy brought her attention to her phone that was ringing beside her laptop.

The caller was Emily. When Sabrina saw that it was her, she remembered there agreement—meeting at the Dongers restaurant on Saturday, which was today.

She picked it up, "Hello?."

"Sabrina." Sabrina cringed at how sickening sweet she had called her,

"Yeah? Why are you calling?."

Emily could sense the harshness in her voice, but she choose to ignore it and pretended to be calm.

"It's about our meeting today."

"I will meet you at the Dongers in ten minutes time."

"Okay—." Sabrina hung up and rolled her eyes.

She picked up her purse and stood up, which earned a questioning look from Daisy,

"Where are you going to?."

"I need to meet a friend." Sabrina kept her phone in her purse, "It's urgent."

"Okay."

Sabrina was about to leave when she bumped into Aurora, who had yelled when the coffee she was holding spilled on her dress.

"My goodness." She tried wiping the stain away, "Are you blind? Can't you look where you're going?!."
