Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Fresh water

Andrius raised his hand, his eyes never leaving the circling Wyverns above. His voice was calm, steady. "Skoll. Hati. Hunt."

At his command, the two white Fenrirs moved. Their massive paws crushed the ground as they sprang forward with shocking speed, powerful muscles propelling them like arrows.

Hiroshi watched, his mouth slightly open in disbelief. They're so fast...

The first Wyvern screeched, flapping its dark wings as it dove toward Skoll. Its claws gleamed, ready to tear through flesh. But Skoll didn't slow down. With a fierce leap, it launched itself straight into the air, meeting the Wyvern head-on.

CRASH!

The impact was brutal. Skoll's jaws clamped down on the Wyvern's wing with a sickening crunch. The beast shrieked in pain, its wing bending at an unnatural angle. Skoll didn't let go. With a powerful shake of its head, it ripped the wing apart, sending blood spraying into the air.

The Wyvern crashed to the ground, screeching and thrashing, its wing mangled and useless. Skoll landed gracefully beside it, eyes glowing with icy light. It circled the fallen beast, low growls rumbling from its throat.

Meanwhile, Hati was already engaged with the second Wyvern. The beast tried to claw at him, but Hati moved too quickly. He darted left and right, his white fur almost a blur.

Then, with one smooth leap, Hati lunged forward and sank his fangs into the Wyvern's neck. The monster roared, its wings flapping wildly, but Hati didn't let go. His jaws clenched tighter, and with a sharp twist, the Wyvern's movements stopped.

The third Wyvern hesitated in the air, its red eyes watching its fallen comrades. It screeched angrily, diving down with its claws outstretched.

But before it could reach them, Andrius raised his hand again. "Skoll. Hati. Finish it."

Both Fenrirs moved at once. Skoll jumped high, grabbing onto its tail, while Hati leaped from the side, biting into its wing. The Wyvern screeched, twisting and turning, but the Fenrirs didn't let go.

Hiroshi watched with wide eyes, his heart pounding. They're tearing it apart... like it's nothing.

In moments, the last Wyvern crashed to the ground, its wings shredded and its body still. The Fenrirs stood over the bodies, their white fur barely touched by the blood of their enemies. They turned back to Andrius, sitting calmly as if nothing had happened.

Andrius dusted off his coat, his face still calm and controlled. He turned back to the carriage, meeting Hiroshi's stunned gaze.

Andrius looked around the battlefield, his sharp eyes scanning the skies. The three Wyverns lay defeated, their bodies still and broken. The guards were already moving to secure the area, checking for any signs of movement.

Andrius turned to the captain of the guards. "We rest here for now," he commanded in his usual calm tone. "Wyverns are known to travel in packs. There may be more."

The captain nodded firmly. "Understood, Master Andrius!"

The soldiers moved quickly, setting up camp near the edge of the forest. The massive Fenrirs, Skoll and Hati, sat silently beside Andrius, their icy blue eyes scanning the area for danger.

A few hours passed, and the camp was settled in the thick of the forest. Massive trees stretched high into the sky, their leaves whispering softly as the wind blew through. The air was crisp and fresh, unlike the rotten stench Hiroshi had grown used to.

Hiroshi stepped out of the carriage, stretching his stiff limbs. He glanced around, surprised to see that Andrius was nowhere in sight. His curiosity got the best of him, and he wandered a bit further, his eyes widening as he took in the sight before him.

The forest was beautiful. Tall trees with thick trunks, vibrant green leaves that rustled gently, and patches of wildflowers that dotted the forest floor. Hiroshi knelt down, his hand brushing over the soft grass. It was fresh and cool to the touch.

"So this is what it's supposed to look like?" he murmured to himself, almost in disbelief. He remembered pictures from books and movies, but seeing it with his own eyes was different. "This is just like in the pictures!"

He took a deep breath, letting the crisp air fill his lungs. "Oh, the air smells good...not rotten." He laughed lightly, the simple feeling of clean air bringing a smile to his face.

While he was still admiring the view, his eyes caught movement—armed men standing nearby. The moment his gaze landed on them, they quickly looked away, avoiding his eyes.

Hiroshi raised an eyebrow. The hell is that about? he thought. He remembered that he needed to learn more about himself and this world. Maybe these guards can help.

With that thought, he took a step forward and approached them. But as he walked closer, they immediately turned their backs or stepped away, pretending to be busy.

Hiroshi frowned, confusion and annoyance flashing across his face. "The fuck is wrong with you people?!" he shouted.

The guards turned to him, their faces pale with shock, eyes wide. Some of them looked like they had just seen a ghost. Hiroshi narrowed his eyes. "What? You deaf too?"

The men just bowed their heads slightly and mumbled apologies, refusing to look him in the eye. Weird... he thought, turning away from them. It's like I'm cursed or something.

Not wanting to waste time, Hiroshi started moving away from the main camp, his eyes still wandering around the tall trees and thick bushes. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice how far he was walking.

Suddenly, a voice called out from behind him. "Please don't go too far, young master!"

Hiroshi turned slightly, spotting a man handling one of the massive hounds from earlier.

Hiroshi rolled his eyes. "Fuck off!" he shouted back without hesitation.

The man's eyes went wide, his jaw dropping slightly as if he had just been slapped. The guards around him shared the same shocked expression, their mouths slightly open.

Hiroshi just kept walking, not even realizing how far he was going from the camp. His mind was still spinning with questions. If they won't talk to me... then I guess I'll just find out myself.

Hiroshi wandered deeper into the forest, his eyes still taking in the tall trees and thick bushes. The sunlight peeked through the branches, casting gentle light on the path ahead. He walked for a while until he heard the soft trickling sound of water.

His eyes lit up. "A river?" he muttered, following the sound.

Pushing through some bushes, he stepped out onto the bank of a small, clear river. The water sparkled under the sunlight, clean and pure. Hiroshi realized just how thirsty he was. He knelt down, cupping his hands and dipping them into the cool water. He drank deeply, the fresh taste surprising him.

"Wow..." he murmured, drinking more. It was cold and crisp, unlike any water he'd ever tasted before. It almost felt like magic.

After quenching his thirst, Hiroshi splashed some water on his face, the coolness waking him up. He leaned over the river, watching the ripples spread. His reflection came into view, and he blinked in surprise.

What really caught his attention were his eyes.

"Yellow?" he whispered, leaning closer. His eyes were a deep, yellow color, clear and bright like polished gems. He stared for a moment, stunned. Then, slowly, a grin spread across his face.

"Heh," he chuckled, brushing his wet bangs back. "Skinny but handsome. This is the only thing that god did right!" He laughed proudly, standing up straight and stretching his back.

But his grin faded quickly when he heard a rustling sound from the bushes nearby. His body tensed, and his mind immediately flashed back to the Wyverns.

"Shit... I wandered far away!" he cursed, taking a step back from the river, eyes scanning the trees around him.
