Eden, Lungmen's newest mysterious company.
Its office building was located in the square directly opposite the Lungmen Guard Bureau headquarters; the pale white building looked like an inexplicable cube inserted straight into the ground. This building, established three months ago, was said to be directly signed off by the Lungmen Guard Bureau's Immortality Agency, but as time passed, this rumor also dissipated.
This pure white building had no external interfaces, only a few projection screens around displaying Eden's mission, business, cooperation methods, and LOGO. The simple LOGO of two overlapping rhombuses and the mission statement—hoping to maintain a vaster living space, reutilize already abandoned things, and lead people back to paradise—looked very much like the declaration of some pyramid scheme organization. But their products received praise from all users.
Codename: Recyclables.
Codename: Regeneration Failure.
Codename: Non-designated Processor.
These three flagship products sounded like some inexplicable things, but in reality, they were not.
The first, 'Recyclables', could recycle all organic matter in a large area, reallocating and utilizing it, even able to reconstruct a quasi-ecosystem cycle in a short time through programming.
The second was a value-added machine paired with the first, known externally as the Civilization Reconstruction Machine. They could use built-in blueprints and their own forging facilities to re-establish an entire area, reshaping it to a desired appearance.
The third was a processor for scrap metal and other inorganic products, paired with the second. The three facilities, when combined and reconfigured, could easily restore all damage caused by war in a short period. Especially after Raythean Industries and Umbrella Bio used these instruments for experimental cleanup, the perfect effect shocked everyone. Eden Company also officially stepped onto the grand stage of Terra.
Although each product was incredibly large and cumbersome, Eden Company was constantly updating and iterating. Raythean Industries and Umbrella Bio were both purchasing these simple yet practical machines. As for the strange phenomena within Eden Company, they weren't so conspicuous under the allure of such good value for money. After all, Raythean Industries and Umbrella Bio were already very strange in others' eyes; Eden Company, a seemingly unmanned company with a very good mission, wasn't that particularly noticeable. Especially since it was still an industry under Lungmen, it didn't look that threatening, so it was very easily let go.
In summary, Eden White Tower thus became a relatively common landmark in Lungmen, the source of various urban legends.
Many people swore that Eden's purpose was to reshape the entire planet, or to transform the entire world into the appearance they desired. But this kind of after-dinner joke merely added some amusement. Locals were quite happy to see a powerful local company like Eden appear in Lungmen.
As a trading city, having the headquarters of some heavyweight companies stationed locally was itself a form of publicity. Apart from a few people curious why Eden White Tower was always empty, and no one ever came forward to claim anything, only a group of external employees flowing around, others didn't have much curiosity about this newly emerged company. Just simply felt there was another landmark here, looking relatively comfortable.
However, what no one knew was that within the White Tower, when the first snow fell, the person in charge of this building welcomed her true master in a real sense.
"…My company?"
"That's right."
"Under my name?"
"Yeah."
"Then how exactly does it operate?"
"Look, at the Immortality Agency, I at least did some things, and then, this thing here can make some money, so I bought myself out through some patents and stuff. But boss, rest assured, I am a grateful person; how could I work for someone and then become independent? So I directly found Officer Ch'en and established this Eden Company in the boss's name. See, the revenue is quite good, right? I told you hiring me was definitely a very good choice."
"Ah…"
Looking at the data projected within the pure white building, Li Lin rubbed his red eyes, feeling his brain couldn't accept this transformation for a while.
It was only his second day back in Lungmen; he hadn't even had time to sleep properly before being dragged by the excited Mayer into this Eden White Tower, and then proclaimed to be the Lord of Eden. This leading enterprise in the industry of selling various recycling tools, environmental utilization machinery, and reprocessing of crude products, inexplicably became Li Lin's property.
What the hell is this? What is all this?
Looking at Mayer's proud expression, Li Lin's head was full of question marks. After holding it in for a long time, he could only tentatively ask:
"Then, you said these are all byproducts created according to our original plan, so where is the product itself? Is it completed yet?"
"No no no, what's sold are all discarded tools. Look, the product names are all failure codenames, all failed products. Can only say they can be used in some places, but lack universality, and can't self-reproduce. Can only be used as temporary waste utilization when there's no money. Nanomachines, this thing is really troublesome; the construction of the Gestalt hasn't even reached ten percent yet. If not for you, boss, giving me a large sum of money, I wouldn't know what to do now."
"Then looking at the effects of these tools, they seem quite good? Recycling organic matter, recycling inorganic matter, then reshaping the environment and geology and such, I feel to some extent the three of them complementing each other should be able to barely achieve the initial concept—"
"—So I said, that's just an inferior product of nanomachines. And it can't regenerate an ecosystem, I've tried."
Mayer looked dissatisfied, puffed her cheeks, crossed her arms, and said:
"Pure white earth, reshaping the planet, self-reproduction, self-proliferation; how can such a great machine be compared to those defective products? No, absolutely not. I will not let those defective products contaminate this White Tower. The planet's ecology cannot yet be reshaped, the original environment also cannot be simulated; why would I want these defective products to contaminate the White Tower? It can't even resist Originium pollution, it's fundamentally useless."
"Oh, oh…"
"By the way, boss, that large sum of money you gave me in Kazimierz, I've now bought some experimental sites and basic materials outside, spent a lot of money. In another three months, I'll be out of money again. Please transfer some more, at least let the industrial chain get moving…"
"…"
What to do?
The things bragged about to people before, now a tech big shot has actually made them, may I ask what to do next?
Build a rocket base and send her into outer space as an alien miner, is it still too late?
Looking at Mayer chattering on about needing money, Li Lin very seriously considered this problem.
