Later that night, at D'Amaro Manor
Isadora hurried into the manor, the book of magic words clutched tightly in her hands. The lamps in the corridor flickered as she made her way to Lady Celeste's chamber, where the older woman was sipping a cup of tea by the window.
"You're back," Celeste said, her voice calm but her eyes sharp. "And you've found something, haven't you?"
Isadora didn't hesitate. She dropped into the seat across from her and laid the book on the table. "I saw the witch — the one who first spoke to me about the bracelet. She… she told me things, Celeste. Things about me."
Lady Celeste set down her tea, her interest fully fixed on Isadora now.
"She said I have magic in me. That I'm descended from Amanda Evernight. That it's been lying dormant, but it's there." Isadora's voice trembled slightly. "She gave me this book. Told me to start learning the magic words… and come back when I'm ready."
For a long moment, Celeste was quiet.
