"What is it, Kazuki? Do you still need some after-sales service?"
Old Gastly had just received its reward and was in a great mood. Kazuki figured now was the perfect time to squeeze a bit of battle knowledge from it for his own Gastly.
"Look, you've got your bounty and won the admiration of your junior!"
"Wouldn't it be only fair for you to pass on a few moves to your adoring junior?"
"Let it shine on the world stage one day!"
Kazuki's flattery made Old Gastly beam with delight, but a ghost that had lived for over a thousand years wasn't so easily fooled.
"You little rascal! Taking advantage of my good mood after getting paid to fish for freebies, huh?"
"Aw, how can you say that, old ghost?" Kazuki doubled down on his praise. "If it rises to glory, wouldn't that reflect well on you too?"
"When the world speaks of mysterious and eerie Pokémon, they'll have to mention you!"
"Bwahaha! You really know how to flatter, boy! Fine, I'll give your junior a few pointers!" Just as Old Gastly was about to pass on its wisdom, it paused.
"Wait, Kazuki, I haven't actually fought much over the centuries."
"Battling's fine, but when it comes to teaching moves… I honestly have no idea how to do that!"
"Is that so?" Kazuki stroked his chin. No way he was letting the old ghost off the hook that easily.
"Then over the past thousand years, did you at least develop some epic technique?"
Old Gastly thought for a moment. "Actually, yes!"
"I've got one move—Millennium Dark Pulse. It's way stronger than your average Dark Pulse!"
"Back in the day—over three hundred years ago—I used it to scare off an entire army of a thousand!"
"Great! Then teach that one!"
He watched as Old Gastly prepared to pass on the technique to his own Gastly.
It began chanting something unintelligible, swirling in a strange, rhythmic cadence. Suddenly, a dense wave of purple mist sank around Old Gastly and surged outward.
The smoke hit Kazuki like a punch to the gut. The joy of scamming a thousand-year-old ghost just moments earlier vanished instantly. All motivation and spirit drained out of him.
His breath grew ragged. Not even the aura of the Beginner Hero's Soul could hold back the effects of Millennium Dark Pulse.
Only after the move was fully transferred did Kazuki's emotions gradually settle.
"Wow, kid! You've got some serious willpower!" Old Gastly floated up and praised him gleefully.
"Being that close and you didn't even cry or clutch your head in pain!"
"Not even a shiver!"
"Amazing! You're definitely going places as a Trainer!"
"The Millennium Dark Pulse is now passed on!"
"Remember, though it has powerful shockwave pressure, aim it right!"
"This little guy can only manage it once per day—don't push it!"
"Good luck! I hope to see you and your junior shine bright on the grand stage someday!"
Before Kazuki could say anything more, Old Gastly bolted, afraid Kazuki might pull another trick on him.
Only then did Kazuki fully realize—he'd just tanked a Millennium Dark Pulse. If it had been anyone else, they'd probably be bawling and running for the hills.
After the ghost left, Kazuki's Beginner Hero's Soul aura finally kicked back into normal rhythm.
Stretching his limbs and glancing up at the sky, Kazuki muttered, "That old ghost ran off so fast—I didn't even get to thank him!"
"Heh… Fine! Thanks, old ghost! When I bring Gastly to the Championship, you're invited to witness it all!"
With the move transfer complete, Kazuki now planned to swap in Haunter to face off against Sabrina, the Saffron Gym Leader.
Though Haunter wasn't exactly battle-hungry, in the original script, it was Haunter who managed to make Sabrina laugh.
The real fight would fall to Gastly, who had just learned Millennium Dark Pulse.
Gastly might be a little lower level than Kadabra, but being a Ghost-type gave him an edge over Psychic-types—a real tactical advantage.
Kazuki activated the Pokédex to rotate his Pokémon, but to his surprise, he got no response from Haunter's Poké Ball.
Several minutes passed with no success in swapping.
"Huh? What's going on? Isn't Haunter still in the lab?"
"Doesn't the lab's system sync with Professor Oak's info hub?"
"Even if he's not there, someone else should be able to handle things, right?"
Perplexed, Kazuki stepped out of the ghost-influenced zone and gave Professor Oak a call.
"Hello! Professor Oak's Laboratory—oof! Ow!"
The call connected immediately, but the sounds coming through were pure chaos.
"Professor Oak… did you start a band in your spare time or something?"
"Ah, Kazuki! Thank goodness it's you!" Oak sounded like he was clinging to a lifeline.
"I can barely keep up with all the research papers I have to read daily—what time would I have for a band?!"
"That—ouch! Gengar! Get down from there!"
"It's you two again! Hey, those aren't toys!"
"I can't get them to calm down at all!"
"Even the Poké Balls won't work!"
"Hey! Haunter, that's Kingler's water supply! Don't drink all of it!"
"Kazuki! You've got to help me out!"
"Hahaha… forgot to mention that, didn't I?" Kazuki chuckled as he listened to the chaos on the other end.
"Professor, switch to speakerphone and point it right at them."
Oak did as instructed and switched to hands-free mode.
"Gengar! Haunter!"
Gengaa?
The two instantly paused their antics and floated up to the phone, startled by Kazuki's voice.
"If you two keep fooling around, no more LCD shows for you!"
Gengaa!
That threat worked like magic. Haunter and Gengar went totally still.
Gengaa…
More than anything, they just wanted Kazuki to come play with them. They even asked when he'd be back.
"When I win the Championship, I'll bring you along to celebrate. But until then, behave at the lab, okay?"
"Don't trouble Professor Oak anymore!"
"Now get back in your Poké Balls—I need you for something!"
The ghostly duo nodded and returned.
"Whew…" Oak wiped sweat off his brow. "Kazuki, you've really got a way with them."
"I can't believe you've tamed such mischievous Pokémon!"
"Just lucky, I guess. Oh, right—Professor! The place I was in earlier didn't have signal, so I forgot to mention—"
"Gengar, Haunter, and the Gastly here love comedy shows. If there's a TV nearby, they'll behave."
"If they ever get out of hand, just cut their viewing time!"
"I'll wire you some money to cover the cost of a TV."
"Oh come on, Kazuki. You think this big lab of mine can't afford a single TV?"
"Save your money for your journey and training. It's more important."
"You're already better than my grandson Gary, who just keeps mooching every month!"
"I can't believe the answer was so simple all along!"
"Don't worry—I'll set up a whole entertainment room for them!"
Kazuki knew he didn't need to actually pay for the TV, but it was still polite to offer.
"Thanks a bunch, Professor!"
Once their entertainment situation was settled, Kazuki finally swapped Haunter into his party.
On his way to Saffron City, Kazuki let out both Haunter and Gastly to warm up with some wild battles.
While the wild Pokémon weren't strong enough to give much EXP, the main point was to shake off the rust. Haunter and Gastly had been playing around for too long—they needed actual combat time.
As Haunter battled a Sandshrew, Kazuki received a system update.
["Gastly Trio Task Completed!"]
["Psychic Body Activated!"]
Psychic Body… so now I've basically got both Aura Power and psychic abilities?
But how do I even train psychic power?
Having the physique doesn't make me a master automatically…
Do I just stare really hard at something and concentrate?
Kazuki fixed his eyes on a pebble on the ground.
After a full minute, just as he was about to give up, the little stone floated slightly off the ground.
Whoa! It really moved!
His excitement broke his focus, and the pebble dropped—but that tiny success was enough.
He hadn't had any training and was already manifesting psychic ability.
If this were a sect selection exam in a cultivation world, he'd be labeled a rare, top-grade spiritual root!
But Kazuki didn't let it get to his head—no reason to grind hard when the system's rewards would boost him eventually.
With Aura Power, enhanced physical skills, and improved mental focus, he might struggle against mid-to-high-level psychics like Sabrina, but he could steamroll ordinary folks with ease.
He toyed with his powers a bit more before heading off with Haunter and Gastly to Saffron City.
Once there, he stopped by the Pokémon Center to get his team healed up.
Then he reached out to Misty—she was still shopping for Pokémon Food.
Following the address she sent, he arrived at a local shop.
Misty was standing among a group of people, listening as the shopkeeper pitched his products.
"Feed your Pokémon Golden Fertilizer—watch them go croak croak croak!"
"Three meals a day with Golden Fertilizer, and you're on the road to Championship glory!"
"Heh, Misty… this Golden Whatever sounds like a big brand. You thinking of buying it?"
Seeing Kazuki arrive, Misty naturally slipped into girlfriend mode.
"Ever since my Pokémon's fur got dry and their skin weird after eating that stuff from Porta Vista, I realized how important food quality is."
"That's why I've got to choose carefully!"
"The shopkeeper here recommended this Golden Fertilizer, and it seems pretty good!"
She handed a sample to Kazuki, who then offered it to Pikachu on his shoulder.
"Here, Pikachu, give it a taste and tell us what you think."
"Pika~ Pika~"
"Pikachu says it's not even as good as ketchup."
"Huh? It's that bad? Well… let's keep looking!"
When it came to shopping stamina, Misty was superhuman.
She'd already been at it for half the day, and she still had energy to drag Kazuki to the next store on her list.
On the way, they saw a bunch of people staring at spoons as they walked, eyes glued to the silverware like it was sacred.
"That's weird. I saw tons of people doing that yesterday too," Misty said.
"Is this some kind of Saffron City custom?"
Kazuki recalled the original storyline and explained, "They're probably all trying to challenge Sabrina."
"They're practicing psychic powers."
"Psychic powers?" Misty glanced around at the weirdos. "So you need psychic powers to challenge the Saffron Gym?"
"Then what about you?"
"Me? I've got psychic powers too. Didn't I tell you before?" Kazuki said casually, treating it like a joke.
Now that he was technically a beginner-level psychic, he could drop the info without raising eyebrows—it'd explain his progress in future battles too.
"You? Come on. Sabrina's the real deal! She doesn't play around with psychic powers!" Misty didn't buy it for a second, thinking Kazuki was just teasing her.
"I'm not joking!" Kazuki said with an exaggeratedly serious face.
Misty narrowed her eyes. "Then show me."
Kazuki glanced around for something small and light to demonstrate with… but found nothing.
His eyes finally landed on Misty—and he got a bold idea.
Maybe because of their emotional connection, Kazuki immediately sensed Misty's panties.
Focusing hard, he tried to lift them just a little… and to his shock, succeeded instantly!
Turns out, lewdness really is the ultimate source of human evolution.
Misty's eyes went wide. Her face flushed bright red as she felt the invisible tug…
