"Wind Magic—Wind Blade!"
Ethan Hayes wasted no time. With a swift motion, he unleashed razor-sharp wind blades. The undead minions in front of him fell as if cleaved by an invisible force, their heads rolling like ripe melons.
"Necromancy—No. 4: Jimmy!"
Realizing his regular undead soldiers were no match, Radis acted decisively, summoning his trump card. A towering figure, nearly three meters high and wrapped in tattered bandages like a mummy, emerged from the necromantic aura. Glowing orbs of deathly energy floated around it, exuding a menacing presence.
"Go, Jimmy!"
With a roar, the giant undead charged, sending its energy orbs flying at Ethan with lethal intent.
"Too slow," Ethan muttered as he effortlessly dodged each projectile. His movements were so fluid it seemed as if he were strolling through a garden, each deadly orb missing him by mere inches.
Radis' confidence faltered. "Damn it! How is he so fast? Jimmy can't even land a hit! This kid… he's not ordinary."
As Ethan danced around the barrage of attacks, Radis began to suspect his opponent's power. "Aren't most Magic Knights low-level grunts? How is this guy moving like that? Could he be from one of the elite squads?"
"Jimmy! Death Flame Barrage!"
The towering undead let out a deafening roar, gathering necromantic energy into dozens of marble-sized orbs that radiated immense power. The orbs shot out in every direction, covering the battlefield in an unrelenting downpour of destruction.
Ethan's expression turned serious. "Looks like I can't keep dodging forever."
"Wind Creation Magic—Vacuum Bind!"
Ethan extended his arms, his grimoire glowing with a brilliant green light. Two opposing gusts of wind swirled around him, converging at a central point to create an invisible barrier. The necromantic orbs froze mid-air, suspended in the vacuum's grasp, unable to move forward or retreat.
"What?! Impossible!" Radis shouted in disbelief as his attacks were nullified.
The balance of the winds was so precise that the center became an unbreakable prison—a testament to Ethan's mastery over his magic.
"Is that… a four-leaf clover grimoire?" Radis finally noticed the distinct extra leaf on Ethan's grimoire. "Wait, could he be Yuno? No… Yuno is with Golden Dawn, and they've been lured away. Then who the hell is this guy?"
"You shouldn't let your guard down during a fight," Ethan said, suddenly appearing behind Radis.
"What?!" Radis turned, only to see the image of Ethan in front of him vanish like smoke.
"Wind Creation Magic—Spiral Burst!"
In Ethan's hand, a compact yet ferociously spinning sphere of wind magic formed, crackling with energy. The sphere's intensity grew as it twisted and spun like a vortex.
The moment it struck Radis' back, the power erupted, sending him hurtling through the air. His momentum carried him into Jimmy, and the two crashed into a nearby building. The structure collapsed, burying them under a cloud of rubble and dust.
"Tch. Not even worth my full effort," Ethan muttered, shaking his head. "Why do people always underestimate me? Is it my age? My looks? What's the deal?"
Despite his frustration, Ethan's sharp gaze turned toward the rest of the city. The chaos was overwhelming, and even with his abilities, he couldn't be everywhere at once.
"Where are the reinforcements? The other squads should've arrived by now," he said, frustration creeping into his voice.
Realizing he was running out of time, Ethan leaped onto a rooftop to get a better view of the devastation. Fires burned across the city, and screams echoed through the streets.
"If they won't show up, I'll just have to go all out myself."
A determined grin spread across Ethan's face as he stared into the chaos.
"This invasion means one thing: the Eye of the Midnight Sun is ramping up their plans. The enemies we face from now on will only grow stronger. If I want to survive, if I want to surpass them…"
Ethan clenched his fists, his eyes burning with resolve.
"I'll fight with everything I've got. No more holding back. Come at me—I'm ready to risk it all to become stronger!"
