The old abandoned factory in the industrial district rose like a dark skeleton against the night sky. The broken windows looked like empty sockets, and rust covered the metal walls like a disease. The air smelled of dust, dampness, and neglect.
We approached cautiously, following the Guardian's instructions through our communicators. Min-ah and I led the way, dimensional energy detection devices in our hands. The readings were high, confirming the Guardians' suspicions.
"There's something big in there," Min-ah whispered. "The energy is... intense."
I nodded, feeling a pang of unease. This place radiated a sense of dark, unnatural power.
We entered through a hole in one of the walls, moving silently through the dark hallways. The factory was filled with rusted machinery and debris. Every shadow seemed to hide a threat.
Suddenly, Min-ah's device emitted a high-pitched beep. "Something's coming," she whispered. "Hurry."
We hid behind a stack of crates just as a grotesque figure appeared at the end of the hallway. It was one of the largest Troubles we'd ever seen, with dark metal armor covering its body. It was carrying what appeared to be a weapon, some kind of spear made of bone and metal.
"That's one of the new ones," the Guardian whispered through the communicator. "Be very careful. They're dangerous."
The Trouble stopped in front of us, as if it could sense our presence. Its red eyes glowed in the darkness. It didn't look like a mindless monster. There was intelligence in its gaze, a cold, calculated malice.
Before we could react, Trouble raised his spear and swung it in our direction. Min-ah and I dodged just in time, and the weapon slammed into the crates behind us.
"Now!" the Guardian shouted over the communicator. "Attack!"
Min-ah unleashed a gust of wind that hit the Trouble, knocking it back a few steps. I took the opportunity to throw several pieces of rusty metal I found on the ground at it, trying to knock it off balance.
The Trouble roared with fury and lunged at us. The fight was intense and chaotic. The Trouble was strong and fast, and its armor protected it from our attacks. Min-ah used her wind to keep it at a distance, while I tried to find weak spots in its armor to attack it with metal.
At one point, the Trouble managed to hit Min-ah with its spear, grazing her arm. She screamed in pain, but kept fighting. I saw the fury in her eyes as she unleashed a whirlwind that engulfed the Trouble, sending it spinning violently.
I took the opportunity to focus on a large metal beam hanging from the ceiling. With a supreme effort, I brought it down right on top of the Trouble. The impact was massive, and the creature fell to the ground with a crash, seemingly defeated.
But it didn't last long. Trouble slowly got up, despite the crushing beam on his body. He seemed even angrier than before.
Just when I thought we were lost, the Guardian and the Guardian appeared at the end of the hallway. The Guardian raised her hands, and a powerful blast of blue energy erupted from them, striking Trouble square in the chest. The creature let out an agonized howl, and its body began to disintegrate, turning into ash.
The threat was over. For now.
We stood there, gasping for air, staring at the wreckage of the Troubles. We had won, but the fight had been tough and had shown us how dangerous the new Troubles were becoming.
"Well done," said the Guardian, approaching us. "You worked well together."
"But they were stronger," I said, feeling a chill run down my spine. "What will happen if more of these show up?"
The Guardian placed a hand on my shoulder. "That's why we're here. To fight together. And to find a way to stop this once and for all."
I looked at Min-ah, then at the Guardians. I knew this was just the beginning. Darkness still loomed over the city, but now, at least, we weren't alone in the fight.
