Chapter 85 - Chapter 83: Trial of Courage

The moment the crowd stepped into the relic, the huge stone door slowly closed, the darkness in front of them was gradually replaced by a gentle light, and the interior scenery of the relic gradually appeared in front of them.

They found themselves standing in the center of a grand and empty hall with a towering dome, and the surrounding walls were engraved with complex and mysterious ancient runes. The runes emitted a faint fluorescent light that illuminated the entire hall.

Everyone looked around vigilantly, soon, energy apertures began to appear under everyone's feet one after another, and the people began to disappear from the apertures one by one, Ian had experience in exploring ruins, and knew that this was triggering a random teleportation, and he instructed Mia, "This is a teleportation mechanism, and we'll be separated, so be careful on your own."

After saying that, Ian also disappeared, when he opened his eyes again, he had already arrived at a completely unfamiliar location, this place looked like the interior of a building, the walls around were very high, as if he had arrived at the land of giants, the location he was in should have been a corridor, Ian quickly looked around and turned on his senses enhancement, trying to explore if there were any other people around.

Soon he heard some subtle sounds, as if it was the sound of a human speaking, so he followed the direction of the sound and found the source of the sound in a wide room, it turned out to be the conceited youth talking with the mysterious youth whose strength could not be seen, and the two were teleported together.

The mysterious youth was named Bauer, and he proposed to cooperate for the time being, the conceited youth was called Ramon, and he said that he would only agree to cooperate if he was the dominant one, and he was bent on expressing himself.

Ian looked at the two men and said to himself, "What a coincidence. "Bauer and Ramon also noticed Ian's appearance and stopped arguing, Ramon looked at Ian, "It's actually you, what a coincidence indeed, the inside of the ruins isn't like the outside, if you piss me off, I'll definitely kill you!" Ramon's hostility towards Ian remained unabated, if not for the fact that he had just entered the ruins now and the situation was unclear, I'm afraid that he would have attacked Ian immediately.

Ian similarly had no good feelings towards this conceited fellow, "That should have come from me. "From the beginning to the end, Ian didn't take the initiative to provoke a dispute, but rather, it was Raymond who kept provoking.

Ramon's face was ugly, and he was just about to continue to say something, when a violent vibration was emitted from within the hall, and the three of them began to be on guard, and along with the vibration, on the ground in the center of the hall, a huge stone monument slowly rose up, and a line of clear text emerged from it:

"Welcome to the Trial Ruins.

This place is divided into five regions, and each region has a control rune. You need to collect at least three control runes before you can open the exit and leave.

Competition and cooperation of any kind is not forbidden within the ruins, but please note that the control rune in each area can only be obtained by those with both strength and intelligence.

Good luck." A passageway then appeared behind the stone monument, which was obviously a passageway leading to a certain area.

Ramon immediately jumped the gun, "In that case, let's hurry up and get moving. Both of you listen to me and I'll make sure you can get out of here."

Bauer, on the other hand, spoke faintly, "We don't know anything about the interior of the relics, what are you going to guarantee that with, this is not the time to fight for command, let's combine our efforts to get the rune of control before we talk about anything else, there are surely other challenges behind us, the relics can't possibly be this simple."

Ian spoke up, "I'm of the same mind, at least until we figure out the dangers inside the relics, we should avoid too much internal friction."

It was now two to one, and Ramon's face changed slightly, obviously dissatisfied, but he didn't say much more, just gave an impatient cold snort.

The crowd's opinions were temporarily unified, so they quickly entered the first passageway of the hall.

The passage was deep and quiet, and the sound of footsteps echoed within the empty passage. It didn't take long for them to reach the entrance of the first area, which appeared to be a huge and complicated maze.

At the entrance of the labyrinth, a stone tablet clearly read, "Test of Wisdom, Cracking the Labyrinth, Controlling the Runes Waiting for the Wise."

"It seems that the test here is not a simple contest of strength, but a true test of matching wisdom and ability."

After the crowd stepped into the labyrinth, the four walls of the labyrinth gradually moved up, the path of the passageway constantly changed, and the sense of direction quickly became meaningless.

Ian whispered a reminder, "Pay attention to the details around you and try to avoid separating."

Bauer took the initiative to suggest a method, "Each person memorizes every step they take forward, and we'll take turns recording it, so we can at least make sure we don't repeat ourselves."

Ramon, however, kept complaining, "Such a slow method is simply a waste of time." But with the other two ignoring him, they had to cooperate as well.

After some difficult exploration and repeated attempts, Ian finally noticed some runes vaguely flickering continuously on the walls of the labyrinth. He immediately reminded, "The runes here seem to be some sort of clues, everyone take a closer look."

After careful identification, Bauer quickly realized that there was some sort of pattern between the runes' blinking frequency and their paths. Under his leadership, the three of them quickly left the labyrinth as well.

At the exit, the control rune was silently suspended in mid-air, emitting a soft glow. Ramon snatched the rune and put it into his hands, "It's not that difficult." Bauer revealed a visibly disgruntled look, while Ian was more bashful, as someone who had had experience in exploration, he obviously thought more, "It's so easy to get a rune? What about the others, won't they have the same test, so just how many runes are there in, and are runes really the key to leaving the ruins?"

After obtaining the first control rune, he continued towards the next area.

The second area was completely different, what was presented to them was a vast underground lake, the water was clear and transparent, and at the bottom of the lake, a stone platform could be vaguely seen, and on the platform, the second control rune was placed.

The text on the stone tablet by the lake clearly reminded, "This place tests courage."

Ramon looked at the lake with an ugly face, "This is clearly asking us to swim across, but what unknown dangers are in the water is anyone's guess."

Bauer took the initiative and said, "Why don't I give it a try first, and you guys take over from the shore." After saying that, he quickly jumped into the water and bravely swam towards the stone platform.

Ian, on the other hand, kept a close eye on the lake water, always ready to deal with possible dangers.

Just as Bauer was about to approach the stone platform, the lake water suddenly churned violently, and a huge aquatic creature surfaced violently and attacked. Bauer was startled by this sudden attack and quickly dodged, however, in the water, his speed was greatly slowed down and he was in danger for a while.

The strength of the creature in the water was probably between Flare level and Luminary level, when fighting in the water, its strength could be equivalent to Luminary level, Bauer was able to hold on for a while, so it seemed to be an uncomplicated character as well.

Ian focused his ice power on his feet, as he stepped out, the area under his feet instantly froze, and just like that, Ian ran on the surface of the water, avoiding the problem of slow movements in the water, Ian fired ice spikes from his hands, temporarily forcing the creatures in the water to retreat, and pulled Bauer out of the water, and the creatures in the water, seeing that they were out of the water, went back to the bottom of the water once again to hide as well.

"Scared the hell out of me, I didn't see where it came from at all." Bauer said with some trepidation.

"We have a defense this time, let's move together, one of us will get the rune and the other two will work together to slow it down."

"That's a good idea, in a moment I'll go get the rune and you two will stall it." Ramon wanted to directly pick the fruit again at this point, just like those children who were spoiled by their parents and thought that everything had to revolve around them.

Bauer had an angry look on his face and was just about to argue with him when Ian reached out and stopped him, "Okay, it's a deal. "
