Chapter 31 - Our Happy Ending

The moment Danny carried me into my room, it was as if the world outside disappeared. He gently nudged the door shut with his foot, his arms still wrapped around me as if letting go wasn't an option.

He placed me down slowly, our bodies pressed close, and his forehead rested against mine. "You have no fucking idea how much I've craved this," he murmured, his voice deep, rough, and edged with desire. "Having you. All of you. No interruptions. No one to stop me from finally worshiping the hell out of you."

I smiled, breath shaky as I whispered, "Then what are you waiting for?"

That was all it took.

He pulled me in with a growl, crashing his lips onto mine in a kiss that was anything but gentle. His hands roamed over my body, possessive and hungry. I felt my back hit the mattress, and before I could even catch my breath, he was on top of me, kissing down my neck, his words muffled against my skin.

"Fucking hell, you drive me insane," he muttered, biting down gently on my shoulder. "Do you even know what you do to me, baby?"

I gasped when his hand slipped beneath my shirt, sliding along my waist with torturous slowness. "Danny," I moaned softly, arching into his touch.

He looked up at me, eyes wild and filled with emotion. "I'm going to take my time with you. Every damn inch."

His mouth found mine again, slower this time. Deep. Unhurried. Like he was memorizing the taste of me.

He pulled my shirt over my head and tossed it aside. "So fucking perfect," he murmured, trailing kisses between the valley of my breasts. My fingers tangled in his hair as he kept moving down, worshiping every inch of me like he promised.

"You're shaking," he whispered, looking up at me.

"Not scared," I said, running my thumb over his cheek. "Just... you. It's always been you."

He swore under his breath and kissed me again, deeper this time, like my confession ignited something feral inside him.

The rest of our clothes disappeared between heated kisses and tangled limbs. He slid inside me with a low groan, forehead pressing against mine. We moved in sync, our bodies dancing to a rhythm older than time. Every stroke, every breath, every whispered name was filled with meaning.

"You feel like fucking heaven," he moaned, hips grinding deeper. "God, baby... don't ever leave me. Not after this."

I cupped his face and kissed him like it was a promise. "I'm yours. Always was."

Our bodies moved faster, desperate and tender all at once. I cried out his name, nails digging into his back, and he let go too, burying his face in the crook of my neck as we both unraveled together.

When the world settled again, he didn't pull away. He stayed inside me, arms wrapped tight, breath fanning my skin.

"I love you," he whispered, and this time, it wasn't rushed or panicked or desperate. It was quiet. Steady. Real.

"I love you too, Danny," I whispered back, brushing his damp hair off his forehead.

We lay there tangled together, bodies still humming from the aftershock. His fingers lazily traced shapes on my spine, and I couldn't stop the soft smile spreading across my face.

Outside, the moonlight cast a silver glow over the room. Peaceful. Serene.

Danny looked at me, brushing his thumb along my lips. "So..." he grinned, voice teasing, "Think your grandma would approve?"

I laughed, hiding my face in his chest. "She'd probably start with one of her legendary stories."

"Then I guess I better make our story worth bragging about."

I chuckled.

Danny wrapped me tighter in his arms as if I might disappear if he loosened his grip even a little. His thumb traced gentle, reverent circles along my lower back as I lay sprawled across his chest, my lips still tingling, my cheeks glowing from the warmth of everything that just happened. The room smelled faintly of him—musk, pine, and something I now knew as home.

His hand brushed a stray curl from my cheek as he looked down at me with a gaze so intense, it made my heart flutter. "You know," he murmured, voice thick and low, "I'm not letting you go. Ever."

I blinked up at him, breath soft. "That a promise, Mr. Fraser?"

He smirked. "Nah, that's not just a promise, sweetheart. That's a fucking vow."

I giggled, curling closer. "Then I want more."

His eyes sparkled with mischief, but his tone softened as he whispered near my ear. "I promise to always be the one who holds your hand when the world gets loud."

"I promise," he continued, pressing a kiss to my temple, "to make you laugh when you're about to cry, to lift you up when you're falling, and to be your anchor when you're drifting."

He kissed the tip of my nose. "I promise to keep choosing you, every damn day, even when things get messy. Even when we fight. Especially when we fight."

I swallowed, my heart aching from the weight of his words. "I promise to never hide from you," I whispered. "To show you the messy parts, the scary parts. All of me. And still love you fiercely."

He pulled back just enough to cup my face in both hands. "I promise to be the first one you see in the morning, and the last one to say goodnight."

"And I promise," he said, kissing my wrist, "to build a future with you. A home. A life. A love that doesn't just survive… but fucking thrives."

Tears welled up in my eyes again, but this time they were the kind that came from knowing that I had finally found something real. Something lasting. Something mine.

"Forever?" I whispered.

Danny smiled, eyes glowing. "Forever, my girl. And beyond."

He wrapped me into him again, our hearts steady, our breaths synchronized, and our world quiet—just us, together, wrapped in warmth, in skin, in the kind of love people spend lifetimes searching for.

And just like that, under the hush of night and the whisper of promises,

the quiet girl's story found its loudest, happiest ending.
