Owen stared at Daren for a long time, seemingly lost by the invisible domineering aura emanating from Daren, he gazed at Daren like a devotee looking at his God.
Owen nodded and said nothing, focusing on finishing his drink, though his eyes kept drifting towards Daren every now and then. And this did not escape Darens High perception.
Owen looked like a startled cat who was caught while stealing, a bittersweet smile appeared on his face as he laughed a little and spoke.
He paused a little letting his words settle, then he continued.
Owen looked a little fearful when he spoke about the demons as the mere mention of their names brought out ones deepest despairs.
The demons have always been bloodthirsty and vicious by the nature from the very beginning. Though they have a working society, they still lived through blood and carnage. The weak has no say or right there, only the strongest rules.
Daren spoke thoughtfully, as he too had heard such rumors.
Hearing his Emperor's words, Owen felt a chill run down his spine. He visibly shuddered just by the mere thought of the destruction that would ensue.
Owen had a devasted look on his face, he felt as if his world was crashing down on him.
Daren replied in a grave tone.
Though the war hadn't even started, Owen felt like he had died several times. His face looked so pale as if all his blood was drained from him. But Daren wasn't finished yet and he continued.
And so he was confident that Daren and Aria would have an upper hand if they fought with the demon Sages. But the sudden revelation of Daren's plunged all his hopes into despair.
Daren's movement stilled
He spoke as if it was a matter of fact, the sheer confidence radiating from his words made Owen's stuff shoulder relax a little. It wasn't a statement, it was a decree of the Emperor. If he said he'd win then he would.
No more words were needed to speak, Owen has got his answer and nothing else matters to him anymore, that's just how much he trusted his Emperor. He soon finished his drink and left the inn.
Daren too proceeded to continue his work but his divine sense suddenly caught something unusual, A strong presence was approaching the town. He expanded his senses more and focused onto the approaching presence.
He saw a carriage and some guards marching towards the town. The carriage was adorned with gold and embroidery, absolutely work of master craftsman. The carriage had insignia printed on it and so the uniforms of the guards, it was a noble's carriage that much was clear to Daren.
There were a total of four guards covering the carriage from all sides in a protective formation. But that wasn't what was surprising, it was the strength of these guards, each one of them was a master level cultivator.
It was strange for a person with guards of such a strength to come to this backwater town, unless they were passing by on a journey.
When Daren focused on the person inside the carriage he saw a middle aged man with an arrogant look on his face that screamed 'I'm special'. His belly was hanging out a little, but he wasn't fat, it was just that he wasn't toned or fit either. And his cultivation was of the master rank too, most likely he had consumed a huge amount of resources, the hanging belly of his was proof of that as no cultivator who cultivates naturally, always has a fit body.
Just by seeing his face Daren knew that a headache was approaching as this kind of people were always too full of them.
But he didn't know how this single person was going to change his life forever.
Though he would take some days to even reach the town as they were too far away right now.
