ROAR!!
Saber light and sword light intertwined in a frenzy, colliding and grinding against each other. The terrifying sword qi and saber flashes tore the surrounding savage beasts and ferocious birds into bloody shreds. A furious and unwilling roar echoed through the battlefield.
Though the blood-colored war sword was formidable, it was clearly inferior to the towering saber light that seemed to pierce the heavens and earth. Within that saber light surged a terrifying blade intent—relentless, unstoppable, annihilating all, slaying the heavens and extinguishing the earth.
BANG!!
With a deafening boom, the blood sword crashed into the ground. As the saber light descended, a terrifying saber mark carved itself into the battlefield.
The blood light dissipated. The colossal body of the Sword Dragon King collapsed to the ground. A horrifying wound stretched from its tail to its head, bisecting it from end to end. Its body was riddled with countless gashes, with blood gushing from the deep saber wounds, dyeing the entire body crimson. The sheer destructive force of that strike was beyond terrifying—it even split its skull in half.
The Sword Dragon King's life force was rapidly fading.
Still, its vitality was astonishing. Its wounds even showed signs of beginning to heal. Unfortunately, the blade intent from that strike was too domineering. The first wound's blade intent hadn't even dispersed before the second attack landed. The two strikes resonated, triggering a simultaneous eruption. Blood fountains burst from its body as the blade intent pierced through it, shredding its organs to pieces.
With one final, unwilling roar, the beast collapsed.
Dead on the spot.
On the city wall, Fu Hongxue's face turned pale.
The Draw Blade Technique relied on essence, qi, and spirit—nurtured with essence, controlled with spirit. The stronger one's mind, the greater the power they could wield. In other words, the more powerful the blade intent, the greater the energy one could charge up and unleash. If the blade intent couldn't contain the power, the technique couldn't even be drawn—worse yet, it could backfire and grievously injure the user.
There was no way to charge it up indefinitely.
However, if the blade intent was powerful enough—reaching the One Tribulation, Two Tribulations, Three Tribulations realm—then even at the Divine Sea Stage, one could, given time to charge up, slay cultivators at the Life Aperture, Life Map, or even higher realms in a single strike.
Once a power is trained to its peak, even a sheep can kill a lion.
"Excellent, it's dead! The Sword Dragon King is dead! That crimson ape was shot down by the Lord's arrow, the Human-Faced Demon Spider was forcefully slain by Attendant Ye, and the final one, the Emperor Crocodile, was gravely wounded by Elder Huang's divine ability and fled in defeat. All four second-tier king-class beasts have been wiped out before our Xuanhuang Town!"
"Our Xuanhuang Town has endured countless storms. The reputation we built with blood and flesh is not so easily broken! Even with a beast tide, they can't breach the Iron-Blood Great Wall. This will be their burial ground!"
"Kill! Use your war arrows and crossbows—give them hell! These beasts think they can break us? Never!"
Cheers erupted from the city wall. Seeing all four king-class beasts slain or routed filled everyone with immense confidence. They believed firmly in their ability to hold the walls and withstand the beast tide.
The Iron-Blood Great Wall was continuously devouring the blood and flesh of fallen beasts. With every breath, it expanded, spreading wider and wider. More and more civilians poured onto the wall, received weapons and bows, and began assisting in the defense. With the beast tide so dense, accuracy wasn't even necessary—any shot would hit.
Even a blind man couldn't miss.
"Lord, we can't allow the Iron-Blood Great Wall to expand further. The larger the area it covers, the harder it becomes to defend. Even with townsfolk aiding the defense, our stamina won't hold for prolonged combat. We need to rotate shifts. Right now, the scale is reaching its limit."
Jia Xu stepped forward and offered his advice.
"But if we don't let the wall consume the beast corpses, the remaining beasts will just climb over them and storm the town. These piles of flesh are forming a staircase. It's a dangerous hidden threat," Wu Yong countered, frowning.
The corpses had indeed become a problem.
The wall was only about three zhang (ten meters) high. That might be tall for humans, but for the towering savage beasts, it was nothing. A pile of flesh and bone would give them a height advantage and let them leap straight into the town, nullifying the wall's defenses.
However, if the wall continued to grow, more defenders would be needed. Ideally, the forces should rotate in three shifts—but that wasn't possible right now. Expanding any further could create gaps in the defense.
The corpses had become a critical liability.
"No need to worry," Yi Tianxing said calmly. "Since the Iron-Blood Great Wall can't continue to grow, let other heavenly treasures take this opportunity to evolve."
As he spoke, two Arrow Towers and two Magic Towers suddenly launched new assaults.
Crossbow bolts pierced the air. Fireballs and water arrows shot across the battlefield.
When they hit their targets, radiant divine light shimmered, and vast swathes of corpses vanished at a visible speed. In their place, the four defense towers pulsed with mystical runes and symbols, glowing with surging divine light.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Arrow Towers and Magic Towers began absorbing immense nutrients, their structures stretching taller inch by inch. Their aura surged as they underwent a visible metamorphosis.
Their energy was evolving nonstop.
The Arrow Towers were the first to transform fully.
Yellow-Grade, Ninth Rank Arrow Towers: Now able to unleash 81 crossbow bolts at once, with an optimal range of 900 to 1,000 meters. Within this zone, each bolt retained maximum lethality. Beyond that, power would gradually diminish.
The Magic Towers also evolved:
Yellow-Grade, Ninth Rank Flame Tower: Capable of casting 27 fireballs at once, creating chained bombardments and sea-of-fire effects, engulfing an area of 900 to 1,000 meters.
Yellow-Grade, Ninth Rank Water Tower: Could fire 27 water arrows, and cast Water Spirit Shields over the same range.
With a battlefield littered in corpses, the towers greedily absorbed essence and flesh, rapidly evolving to top-tier Yellow-grade artifacts with terrifying destructive power.
"These towers have reached their limit at Yellow-Ninth Rank. To go any further, they'll need rare heavenly materials and earthly treasures," Yi Tianxing noted.
Any future breakthroughs would require high-grade spiritual items, which would directly affect the tower's potential and power. Low-grade materials would lead to limited growth; top-tier materials could grant them divine potential.
Even so, the current towers, now upgraded, were enough to pose a threat to second-tier savage beasts. The crossbow bolts, each carrying tens of thousands of pounds of force, could instantly pierce through anyone below the Life Map Realm unless they were specially trained body refiners.
"Even after the upgrades, there are still too many corpses. Eventually, the problem will return. If there's no better solution, we'll have to resume feeding the Iron-Blood Wall. We can't allow the beasts a foothold to leap the wall," Jia Xu said with a frown.
The towers were powerful, but their consumption speed couldn't keep up with the tide of bodies. The threat was far from over.
"No need to worry. Although it's a bit wasteful, we have no choice. All this flesh… will be used to nourish my Life-bound Treasure," Yi Tianxing declared.
He took a deep breath, and with a flash of light, summoned a resplendent, fourteen-tier pagoda from his Divine Sea.
The Hongmeng Heavenly Emperor Pagoda!
Without hesitation, the pagoda turned into a stream of light and shot into the battlefield, sinking into the ground and vanishing.
Moments later, an eerie change spread across the battlefield.
Mountains of corpses began to vanish silently, as if an endless abyss beneath the ground had opened its maw, devouring all in its path.
Blood, flesh, bones—everything disappeared without a trace.
Not even a stain remained.
