Chapter 37 - 37 - Gruesome Symphony

Dexter knelt in front of GreenBlob, who was having a hard time getting up. Then, he looked toward the dead body of Lucy-chan and sighed.

"You know… I never really wanted to kill a girl — unless necessary."

Then, he transformed one of his Necromancer Bone Scepters into a Holy Staff.

"I'll revive your girlfriend… if you strip naked."

GreenBlob's eyes shook as he looked toward Lucy-chan — her eyes wide open from the sudden explosion of skeletons, staining the hard ground with her blood, lifeless.

"You think I'm a fool?" GreenBlob gritted his teeth.

"I think you've got six seconds left to decide…"

"5… 4…"

"FUCK YOU!" shouted GreenBlob, using his broken shield as support to stand up.

"3… 2…"

With a sudden burst of his remaining strength, GreenBlob rushed toward Dexter, shield raised.

But Dexter simply dodged and stomped on his foot, sending GreenBlob stumbling and rolling across the ground.

"1…"

"Resurrect."

A divine light erupted from his Holy Staff, engulfing Lucy-chan. The blood on the ground flowed back into her body as if time were rewinding. Her eyes snapped open with a sudden shudder, and she gasped for breath, greedily gulping air as she returned to life.

"Heal…" Dexter whispered.

Lucy-chan struggled to sit up, unable to believe what she was seeing. Her enemy had just revived and healed her… on a whim.

Dexter knelt beside her, glancing at GreenBlob with a smirk.

"See that boyfriend of yours? I offered to revive you if he stripped, but he chose his pride over your life… Isn't that funny?" he whispered into Lucy-chan's ear.

Lucy-chan's vision blurred as tears fell uncontrollably, drenching her now dirt-stained white gown.

"I-it's not true! Don't believe him, Lucy… he just wants to make us fight!" GreenBlob protested.

"Bah! Oh really? If I were you, I'd grovel at anyone's feet to save my woman. But you? You chose your pride instead… Tsk, tsk. What else could I expect from an AI programmed to be prideful, right?"

Standing up, Dexter walked toward GreenBlob, transforming his other Necromancer Bone Scepter into a hammer.

"Remember what I said in the Tutorial Zone? 'Don't let me see you outside the Safe Zone.' Yet here you are… offering yourself to the Demon, should I cut your dick now and feed it to you? or..."

With an evil laugh, Dexter smashed the hammer into GreenBlob's head, splattering his brains across the ground.

"Resurrect…"

GreenBlob's head reformed instantly, but the moment he opened his eyes — CRACK! — the hammer struck again, bursting his skull and sending his kneeling body collapsing like a felled tree.

"Resurrect…"

"Resurrect…"

"Resurrect…"

Lucy-chan watched as GreenBlob died repeatedly, without even a moment to speak.

"S-s-stop…" she murmured, trembling.

"Stop… please… he… he did nothing wrong… he's not even my boyfriend!"

The betrayal she felt from GreenBlob, mixed with the horror of watching him die repeatedly without respite, made her wet her gown.

"Resurrect…"

With his last remaining mana spent on resurrection, Dexter turned to Lucy-chan with icy apathy.

"Okay... so, do you think I should let him live after he disrespected my woman? Tell me, girl… if you were a man with this power, would you let it slide?"

"If you say yes, I'll kill you right now."

GreenBlob's body fully reformed, and he immediately groveled at Dexter's feet, kissing his boots.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry… please, let me live! Don't kill me anymore!"

Dexter kicked his face, sending him rolling across the ground.

"FUCK! Who told you to kiss my feet? Damn it… I don't have enough mana to cast 'Cleanse,' you idiot."

Pulling a rolled dry leaf from his inventory, he transformed his Holy Staff into a torch and lit it.

After a long drag, he exhaled, blowing a stream of smoke into the air as he laughed.

"Damn… I should've done this before resurrecting you. Should we start again?"

GreenBlob scrambled backward, only to hit a wall.

"Hey now… don't be a pussy. If you knew how many times I've died in training, you'd probably worship me as the 'Undying God of the Loincloth.'"

Maniacal laughter — more sinister than any demon's cackle — mixed with a woman's suppressed sobbing, echoing through the dungeon's depths.

Dexter continued smashing GreenBlob's head, only to resurrect him each time he died.

The rhythmic carnage was interrupted by soft footsteps joining the gruesome symphony, making Dexter pause mid-swing.

"What's taking you so long, Gree—"

The woman froze. Her eyes locked onto the loincloth-clad man before her — one hand gripping a Holy Staff, the other wielding a grotesquely oversized hammer whose head resembled a stone pillar.

In one fluid motion, she drew the Firestaff from her bag and cast Flaming Field, the spell's crimson rings igniting only enemies within a 10-meter radius.

"FUCK! STOP IT! IT'S SO HOT! GODDAMNIT!"

Dexter's bracers were adjusted by the system, making him immune to status effects like burning — but the pain he received was twice as intense.

After transforming his Holy Staff into a pain-nullifying cloak, he glared at the woman near the entrance.

"Miss Nika! Help us! Please help us!" Lucy-chan begged, groveling at her feet.

"You... what's your name?" Nika demanded, staring at Dexter.

"I am someone you'll regret chasing..." he replied.

Dexter advanced toward her, his hammer morphing into a chained sickle. He twirled the weapon lazily before stopping five meters away.

"So you're a cheater... Tell me, how do you change weapons without using bags? Maybe I'll let you leave after... just maybe..."

The woman pointed her secondary staff at GreenBlob's body and resurrected him.

"Kill me... kill me... please kill me..." GreenBlob trembled, his voice breaking.

Dexter burst into laughter — then suddenly hurled the chained sickle's blade toward Nika.

Nika didn't flinch. With practiced ease, she deflected the attack using her Holy Staff while simultaneously casting a Fireball from her Firestaff.

'A veteran... I can't take her down easily, not while she's using that Holy Staff offhand.'

'/inspect '

'Optimal combat pairing... impressive setup.'

Dodging the barrage of fireballs, Dexter transformed his chained sickle into teleportation sandals and blinked away.

"Which Guild do you serve, Fiery Mistress?" he called out.

Nika merely laughed, her eyes filled with disdain.

"Cheaters don't deserve answers."

Nika pointed her Firestaff towards him.

Then Dexter sensed it — the sudden surge of mana surrounding him.

'Damn... I can't switch the cloak because of this pain…'
