Chapter 83 - Indra's Chakra, Valley of the Gods Begins!
The lottery reward gained from Pakura made this trip worth it in Renji's eyes.
"Why did you come to Kirigakure?"
Pakura, now able to move a little, propped herself up. She couldn't understand why a Hokage would come all the way to Mist territory.
"I came to form an alliance with Kirigakure."
"An alliance?"
A shadow flashed through Pakura's eyes. She had just been used as a sacrificial offering, and yet Renji was here to ally with the Mist?
"There's been long-standing dissatisfaction within the Mist regarding the Fourth Mizukage's rule. I'm working with them to overthrow him. You could even consider that a form of revenge on your behalf, since it was the Fourth Mizukage who gave the order."
Renji shrugged, seeing her confusion and offering a brief explanation.
In a way, it really was revenge for her.
"You… a Hokage helping the Mist overthrow their own Mizukage?"
Wait.
She felt like her mind was spinning.
"That's right. They approached me. I'll find you a place to stay—wait there for me, and I'll return after this is over."
With that, Renji used the Flying Thunder God seal to teleport back to Konoha. He assigned Shisui to monitor Pakura and gave him specific instructions. Though she had agreed to cooperate, Renji wasn't naive enough to leave a powerful ninja unattended in Konoha.
Once everything was arranged, Renji returned to the Mist.
By then, Mei Terumi and her group had finished their internal discussions and were coming to finalize the plan with Renji.
Knock knock.
"Come in."
Renji's voice came from inside. The group outside exchanged glances before opening the door. Seeing Renji seated casually, they stepped in.
"Sorry to interrupt. We've reached a decision."
"Then let's not waste time. Say it straight."
Renji nodded, signaling them to speak freely.
Mei Terumi sat down across from him and laid out their terms: "We agree to your earlier conditions. But we have one more—we need your help during the rebellion. However, you cannot reveal that you're Uchiha or the Hokage."
They needed his strength, but not his identity exposed.
"Fine."
Renji nodded without hesitation. As long as they agreed, they were already in his trap.
"One more thing… I want to ask—can someone really control a Jinchūriki?"
As she spoke, Mei's eyes locked onto Renji. Even if she had ruled out his involvement, she still believed that only the Uchiha could do such a thing.
"Yes. If a Sharingan's ocular power is strong enough, it can control them. But that's not something just anyone can do."
I knew it!
Mei's heart trembled—so the Uchiha really could control Tailed Beasts.
"Don't look at me like that. We Uchiha aren't bored enough to go around trying to control Tailed Beasts. Besides, doing so constantly drains chakra from the eyes. One misstep, and you go blind. Very few can withstand that."
Controlling a Jinchūriki meant constant visual output to suppress the beast within.
Any ordinary Uchiha would go blind if they tried to do it long-term.
After hearing this, the group found it reasonable—perhaps it really did rule out the Uchiha?
"Our Mizukage has been placed under genjutsu. If possible, we want to keep him alive."
Mei was frank about Yagura being controlled. If it was possible to avoid killing him, she wanted that outcome.
She didn't hide anything—her straightforwardness even surprised Ao.
"Sure. I'll help suppress him, but the main effort has to come from your side."
"No problem. We act tonight!"
To avoid complications and to prevent Renji from backing out, they decided to act immediately.
"Tobi, we just got word—Mei Terumi's group is moving tonight."
In the Kamui dimension, Zetsu relayed the intel to Tobi.
They had hidden White Zetsu clones within Mei's faction, easily gathering information.
All of Mei's planning over the years had been monitored by Tobi's side. Until now, they hadn't interfered. But Tobi was finally ready to return this ruined Mist Village to its rightful owners.
Night.
Mist Village was quiet. In the Mizukage's office, Yagura sat calmly, as if awaiting someone's arrival.
When the lights went out, countless ninja surrounded him. Without hesitation, they launched an attack, not caring about his title.
"Mei Terumi, assassination of the Mizukage is treason."
Yagura blocked the strikes. A Tailed Beast cloak enveloped him as he looked up, voice calm.
"Yagura, everything you've done all these years is about to end."
Mei couldn't even bring herself to say that he had been under genjutsu. For their Mizukage to be manipulated for years without anyone realizing it—just the thought was humiliating.
"Go."
"Suppress the rebels!"
Yagura had already gathered his ANBU for this. The two sides clashed head-on.
Mei and Yagura fought from the Mizukage's office out toward the outskirts of the village. The center of the battle slowly shifted outward.
"Tobi, looks like Yagura's no match for Mei Terumi."
Zetsu glanced at Tobi. Yagura had long been neglected under Tobi's control.
A Mizukage who didn't train couldn't possibly fight a battle-hardened genius ninja.
"I never expected much from him. I just used him to create a brilliant firework."
Tobi chuckled coldly. This final act wasn't meant for Yagura to kill Mei.
It was revenge on Kirigakure itself. Over the years, he had nearly completed his vengeance—but one final target remained.
The bloodline clans and elite shinobi had already been killed or driven out by him. Only one remained.
Zetsu, hearing this, glanced at Tobi and silently thought: this kid's grudge runs deep. But he's just a pawn—he still doesn't know who's really behind it all.
Still, fine. Zetsu didn't stop him. Letting Tobi vent his hatred would actually help bring about the Eye of the Moon Plan.
Meanwhile on the battlefield, Mei could clearly feel that Yagura wasn't nearly as strong as she'd feared.
Her earlier worries now seemed a bit excessive.
It looked like she could handle him without Renji's help after all.
Maybe it was the genjutsu?
Mei silently speculated.
Her Boil Release had already melted Yagura's Tailed Beast cloak, and her Lava Release was burning him continuously.
It wouldn't be long before he died.
Just as Mei began to feel a hint of relief, Ao's sudden cry snapped her back to reality:
"Run! That bastard's going to self-destruct!!"
A Tailed Beast self-destruction would annihilate everything in the area. Mei's position was dangerously close—if she moved too slow, she'd die too.
Yagura's chakra surged wildly—an unmistakable sign of imminent Tailed Beast detonation.
The Tailed Beast would revive years later.
But they wouldn't.
"Enjoy the fireworks, huh—wait, Flying Thunder God?!"
Tobi's once-cold expression suddenly twisted.
What the hell?! Since when?!
"Whose Flying Thunder God technique was that?!"
In his mind, the image of Minato Namikaze suddenly surfaced. Tobi felt a rare flicker of fear—he still had Minato's Flying Thunder God seal on his body.
"Konoha's people… are here?"
The Flying Thunder God was a secret technique handed down in Konoha for generations.
Zetsu was also intrigued—just who could it be?
The figure wore a black cloak, face completely concealed.
"Please, help me just this once. Stop the Tailed Beast from self-destructing. Consider it a huge favor—I'll owe you one. Whatever you ask of me in the future, I'll agree to it!"
Through the cloak's hood, Mei Terumi stared at the man's face. He was a bit handsome, but she knew now wasn't the time to swoon. If they couldn't stop the self-destruction, Kirigakure would lose its only Tailed Beast.
And there were still questions Yagura had to answer!
"Remember, you owe me big."
Renji gave her a long look before stepping in front of Yagura. His left palm struck Yagura's abdomen. "Eight Trigrams Seal!"
Yagura's violent chakra gradually stabilized and contracted under the effect of the seal. At the same time, the genjutsu cast by Tobi on Yagura and the Three-Tails was completely dispelled.
"He… dispelled my genjutsu. He can use Flying Thunder God, and sealing techniques too…"
For a moment, Tobi saw Minato's shadow reflected in Renji.
Could it really be him?
These were all techniques used by Namikaze Minato.
"We're leaving, Zetsu."
Yagura was no longer under his control. Kirigakure's rebellion was complete. There was nothing left for them here.
Tobi took one last long glance at the cloaked man, uncertain whether or not he was truly Minato.
Minato had supposedly used the Reaper Death Seal, but what if that was a smokescreen from Konoha? He'd never opened the coffin to check—who could say Minato was truly dead?
"Mm."
For some reason, Zetsu also felt some relief. Thankfully, the Three-Tails hadn't died—otherwise, their plan would've been delayed by years.
And now, with the sudden rise of Renji and the appearance of the black-robed figure, things were beginning to spiral out of their hands. The plan needed to be accelerated—before unexpected changes ruined everything.
"Pain, I've already invited the newest member. Also, we've confirmed intel—there's someone in Konoha who has mastered both Flying Thunder God and sealing techniques."
Akatsuki hideout.
After some thought, Tobi decided to report what had happened to Pain.
After all, they still needed Nagato's power to capture and seal the Tailed Beasts. It was best to keep him informed.
"Flying Thunder God? Wasn't the Fourth Hokage already dead?"
The man known as the Yellow Flash—Pain remembered him well. But after his death, no one else had supposedly mastered that technique.
"I saw it myself. And both the Three-Tails and its Jinchūriki survived. If we're proceeding, we might as well begin sooner than planned."
They had intended to wait until the Three-Tails revived naturally. But Zetsu was clearly losing patience.
"Let's observe for now. But yes, we'll need to investigate Konoha soon."
The current Konoha wasn't the same as before.
Ever since Hiruzen Sarutobi's death, this new Konoha needed to be studied thoroughly.
"I'll go."
Zetsu had always handled intelligence work. As soon as Pain said the words, Zetsu had already assumed the mission was his.
"You'll go with Konan. You're recruiting new members anyway. After that, head to Konoha and observe. No need to return immediately."
Konan?
Zetsu was surprised that Nagato would send her.
But this was Konan's own idea. Unlike Nagato, she always wanted to change the harsh reality of the Land of Rain. Her goal this time was to evaluate Uchiha businesses. If possible, she wanted to replicate their success in Amegakure—so those children there could live better lives.
After Tobi and the others left, Yagura's genjutsu was fully dispelled. The battlefield gradually settled.
"Thank you."
"For further discussions, have your representatives meet with us. Since everything's finished here, I'll be on my way. And don't forget—you still owe me a big favor."
Renji turned and left.
There was nothing more for him to do in Kirigakure.
Watching his retreating figure, Mei Terumi felt a twinge of emotion. 'What a strangely charming man…'
[Ding! Fate of Mei Terumi and the Three-Tails altered—reward: one lottery draw.]
Just one?
Mei had likely been severely injured in the original explosion, and the Three-Tails had perished—but the Tailed Beast could be revived.
So… half each, counted as one whole?
Combined with the previous reward from Pakura, Renji now had two lottery draws.
"Draw."
[Ding! Lottery successful. Congratulations—You've obtained: Indra's Chakra, Edo Tensei.]
??????
Two jackpot prizes?!
Indra's Chakra was complete—all he needed now was Asura's.
And Edo Tensei—possibly the most broken jutsu in Naruto's world—was his now.
Especially in other worlds… if they didn't know how to cancel Edo Tensei, those revived could be his eternal servants.
[Ding! Note: If the power of a reanimated entity far exceeds the host's, control may fail. For example: Naruto World Renji using Edo Tensei on a Primordial-level being from another world may not succeed or might not summon them at all.]
Well, no kidding.
Renji already knew that. If he could control people far above his level, he wouldn't need to cultivate anymore. He could just wait for another world's Renji to send him a corpse or two.
He understood Edo Tensei had side effects. Even Madara broke free—let alone beings from cultivation worlds or the Primordial Realm.
[Renji - Naruto World]: "Ahem. Edo Tensei unlocked. Any thoughts?"
[Renji - One Piece World]: "Any thoughts?! I'm heading to God Valley to get Rocks D. Xebec's cells and reanimate that beast right away!!!"
Right on time!
Edo Tensei was finally here!
[Renji - Zombie World]: "Tsk. Too wicked. Never mind."
[Renji - Yōkai World]: "Then I'll gather the cells of those great yōkai too."
They had all read Edo Tensei's description. Yes, it had limits—but that was expected. You couldn't expect to control someone leagues beyond your strength.
[Renji - Mundane World]: "So… everything handled?"
[Renji - Naruto World]: "Completely. Everything's unfolding according to plan."
Renji had no intention of steamrolling the Naruto world immediately.
There were still many rewards left to claim.
At the very least, he wanted to exhaust all bloodlines and valuable abilities before moving on.
[Renji - Naruto World]: "Anyway, no more lottery chances for now. You guys go ahead."
[Renji - One Piece World]: "Don't worry. The God Valley incident is about to erupt. I'll bring back something good for you!"
The Rocks Pirates were starting to stir again…
