Neither of them replied or wanted to hear from her..
Not immediately. But Lu Ting Cheng has always wished to know why she had abandoned them like that. What could be the reasons, and could she be the one who had attacked them at the airport?
Lu Ting Cheng's eyes burned, but his voice remained even, as if he were looking at a stranger. "What are you doing here? How come you showed up today?" For the past six years, they haven't come across each other, but today, it happened! Was it a coincidence?
Gabriel stepped forward, his smile polite but glacial. "My fiancée was invited. We thought it would be a good opportunity for a… reunion, you know. Because she is your biological mother still... that would never change no matter what."
"Fiancé? You have some good taste there, Mr Gabriel! I applaud you for that!" Lu Zi Zhen, who wasn't far away, spoke up as the boys laughed off!
Gabriel's smile didn't waver, but his tone sharpened. "Thanks, Young Master. Lu. I suppose your approval must mean a lot, especially coming from someone who's never quite managed to keep anything… or anyone." Apart from the Lu family, no one knew how Lu Zi Zhen came to exist, but to the world, they knew he was the last born.
Lu Zi Zhen raised an eyebrow, his hands in his pockets as he sauntered forward. "Oh, I keep what I want. And about the rest? I throw it away. You see, I don't beg for affection with a diamond ring."
Gabriel's eyes glinted. "Right. You just buy loyalty with your family name and expect people to stick around for the power. I would be surprised if even your dog doesn't question your authority."
Lu Zi Zhen chuckled darkly, taking another step closer. "Cute. You talk big for someone hiding behind a woman's identity to walk back into our lives. Or is this just another one of your strategic moves, Mr. Chessmaster?"
Gabriel's smile froze, sharp as glass. "Better a chessmaster than a spoiled brat who plays war games with people's lives. Remind me—what's your score these days? Still losing?"
Before Lu Zi Zhen could fire back, Lu Ting Cheng raised a hand, eyes still locked on the woman across the room—the one who had disappeared six years ago and now stood, unknowingly close.
"Enough," Lu Ting Cheng said coldly. "This isn't about you two. It's about why she's here... and what she wants now."
Gabriel didn't like the way the boys were talking and handling him.
Looking at the boys looking at her in the distance, she felt heartache. It didn't seem like she would mend this relationship in a day.
She won't give up.
Because she knew—
Whatever bridge she had once crossed had burned itself to ashes, and she needed to start from below.
And her sons were no longer standing on the other side.
A collective breath seemed to hang in the air, drawn in but not yet released. The revelation of Song Yuyan's return had already stirred old ghosts, but what came next would set the entire room ablaze beneath its velvet politeness.
Lu Ting Cheng's voice was calm, too calm. "You have no right to be here. You know you lack moral integrity, and this place doesn't seem to fit you at all."
Gabriel tilted his head slightly, as if amused. "He's very direct, isn't he?" he said to Yuyan, scrutinizing Lu Ting Cheng up and down.
Song Yuyan smiled thinly. "He takes after his father."
Lu Zhi Hao said nothing and wasn't bothered by her presence. If the kids wanted to forgive her, that's on them; if she wanted to rekindle their relationship, that was on them, so long as they didn't disturb their peaceful life.
