Chapter 9 - To Orario 2

Yor Genkai Image.

Cold and refreshing passed by blew my hair back, rustling my clothes and making me feel the coldness of this mountainous region. Above, the sky — the sun was at its peak, illuminating the world with its gentle light. Behind the sun and the sky loomed a purple planet of unimaginable size, far larger than all the planets in this universe combined. The purple planet lay at the very center of the universe; no matter where you are, it will always dominate the backdrop of the skies.

I could measure its diameter, which was at a ??? level — ??? times greater than all other planets combined. Yet I could feel that this wasn't its true size, hidden beneath its atmosphere. I had a feeling that knowing its true scale would drive me insane. The distance between me and the purple planet was ???.

I wanted to know more about it. However, that wasn't my priority right now. I turned my gaze away.

I walked through the mountains, climbing peaks and navigating their long and deep ravines.

From time to time, I encountered dangerous monsters — but I dealt with them quickly, like now.

"Oops, that was close," I chuckled, dodging an onslaught of attacks from a huge bear-like monster.

Its black fur shimmered under the sunlight, electricity constantly discharging from its body. Sharp claws that could cleave mountains. A towering form that dwarfed even Earth's skyscrapers.

The black bear growled in frustration.

"Sorry, but I'm not dumb enough to let you catch me. I'd be dead if that happened," I responded to its growl. I could understand all languages — even the tongue of monsters. This skill was a result of one of my past studies.

Right now, the black bear was hurling curses and insults at me, which I laughed it off like a child's tantrum.

"ROAR!!!"

"I know you're the king of this mountain. You've told me that like eight times already," I said dismissively.

Hearing my words, the bear instantly lost it.

With a burst of force from its feet, the black bear vanished from my sight. I couldn't track its movement due to my weak physique. But even with the massive gap in strength, that wasn't enough reason for me not to respond.

Without letting my calm smile fade, I conjured a magic barrier behind my head. The barrier was fueled by both my own magic and the world's, with a ratio of 0.1 to 100 in favor of the world's magic.

Just as I finished casting, a powerful force collided with the barrier, generating a shockwave that flattened everything within hundreds of meters.

"That was your last chance, but unfortunately, this is your unlucky day," I said gently.

The bear attacked with its claws, but my barrier blocked it.

I looked into the bear's eyes and spoke gently, mixing my killing intent into the words: "Leave."

A sudden chill enveloped the beast, freezing it in place. For the first time in its life, the bear felt terror.

It ran without looking back, praying I wouldn't end it.

Days passed in the mountains. On the second day, I finally exited the region.

A vast grassland greeted me. Cold wind passed by, blowing through my hair and clothes. A refreshing scent entered my nose — the scent of pure nature. The grass danced with the wind. Birds sang a melodious tune. Occasionally, a lone tree stood tall amidst the endless green.

Above, the sky was clear and blue. The sun shone bright. And behind both, that purple planet of unimaginable scale loomed.

What a beautiful planet.

Genkai — that's the name of the planet I was on.

Genkai's surface was 80% ocean, with the remaining 20% land. It had a diameter of ??? and an unknown atmospheric thickness due to some reason we couldn't explain. According to gathered data, this planet brimmed with life, rich and suitable for it — and more importantly, it held what I was looking for. Genkai was considered medium-size planet by current standards.

The old world of Genkai had a diameter of 500,000 miles and a surface area of 196.35 billion square miles. There were 12 continents and 7 seas.

Currently, I was on Altana — the continent where the dungeon entrance was located. That dungeon was my goal. I was on my way to its entrance, situated in the center of Orario, also known as the City of Dreams — a place where many gods who descended from Tenkai (Heaven) resided.

I traversed the vast grasslands. As the sun began to set, I finally saw the city's walls in the distance — and the iconic Babel Tower of Orario. A colossal structure five miles tall, it was built by the gods to prevent dungeon monsters from escaping and rampaging across the surface.

The Tower of Babel could be seen from anywhere on the old world — if you had the tools, like a powerful telescope. Without one, it would seem as if it vanished from your sight.

I walked toward the city in the distance, changing my clothes with a simple spell: a white mage robe with golden edges enveloped my body. Underneath — a black t-shirt, black pants, and black boots. A white bandana wrapped around my forehead, tied at the back, its tails hanging loose and fluttering behind me, reaching just above my knees. A magic staff appeared in my hand — taller than me, forged from a special material with a black hue. At its tip was a beautiful, round crystal — black, but containing twinkling lights that formed a galaxy at its center.

The city had four entrances, each located at one of the cardinal directions and named accordingly.

South Gate.

The sun was setting, sinking beneath the western horizon. The guards assigned to the gate began to slowly close it. Some remained outside, standing watch. Others positioned themselves atop the wall or behind the gate. A small door beside the massive gate remained open for the night, guarded by two adventurers from the Ganesha Familia — one of the largest and most influential familias in Orario. Their focus was taming monsters and maintaining order.

After walking for a while, I arrived at the gate — I believe it was the South Gate. The city walls were massive, roughly 60 meters tall and 20 meters thick. The gate itself was about 10 meters tall and 7 meters wide, made from wood with the toughness of metal. It was two feet thick and weighed several tons.

This was one of the reasons why adventurers always guarded this place. Can you imagine how many ordinary people it would take just to open that door? The gate was watched by adventurers.

Though the gate was already closed, people still entered the city. Beside the large gate was a smaller door, guarded by adventurers and guild employees.

The adventurers stood quietly, alert and ready for action. The guild employees sat behind a booth, busily processing those entering.

There were two lines at the booth, each with six or seven people waiting.

I chose the shorter line and waited for my turn.
