Chapter 44 - “The Building Isn’t Big Enough for All of Us”

Alt title: Please Don't Break the Script, Wade

The automatic doors to the Ahjin Guild HQ hissed open.

Deadpool strolled in first like he owned the place, humming the Mission: Impossible theme under his breath.

Wolverine followed, hands deep in his jacket pockets, face already bored and vaguely homicidal.

"Nice place," Deadpool said, glancing around the polished marble lobby. "Really screams 'budget went into ceiling height and anxiety.'"

A security guard blinked twice before recognizing them.

"Oh no," he muttered.

The two walked straight to the elevator like they belonged there. No one stopped them.

Deadpool pressed the top floor button with unnecessary flair, then leaned against the mirrored wall.

"So, you ever been in a corporate tower before?" he asked.

Wolverine growled, "You dragged me here."

"Semantics."

Ding. The doors opened.

They stepped onto a quiet upper hallway. Soft lighting. Executive-style carpeting. And—

"Oh hey, it's German McPowercomplex," Deadpool whispered.

Lennart Niermann was standing near a glass wall, clearly annoyed, arms crossed, his expression pure frustration.

He turned the moment he saw them. His brows knit instantly.

"You… what are you doing here?"

Wolverine said nothing. Deadpool stepped forward like an excited tour guide.

"We're sightseeing! Wanted to visit the most ignored S-Rank in Korea today. Congrats, you win!"

Lennart's eyes twitched. "You're trespassing. This is an internal Guild floor."

"Relax, blondie," Deadpool said, waving it off. "We didn't come here to see you. Honestly, we forgot you were still a thing."

Wolverine grunted, "Who even is this?"

"German S-Ranker. Think of him as European DLC. He's got stats but no storyline."

Before Lennart could retort, Yoo Jinho appeared from the hallway, clearly out of breath.

"W-Wait—what are you two doing here?!"

He stopped just short of them, blinking rapidly.

"You're—Deadpool and… Wolverine? The… the ones from the broadcast?"

Deadpool threw both arms out like he was being introduced on a game show.

"Ding ding ding! We have a winner!"

Wolverine stared at Jinho, then leaned toward Deadpool.

"This guy looks like a substitute gym teacher who never got tenure."

Deadpool leaned in closer to Jinho. "It's okay. He's always like this. Rage issues. Cigar breath. You get used to it."

Jinho took a cautious step back.

"I-I didn't even know you were in the country…"

"Well, neither did the legal system," Deadpool replied. "But hey, we're here now. Take a picture. Or, better yet…"

He suddenly turned, stared directly at the hallway security camera.

Then smirked.

"Oh no," Jinho muttered. "Don't—"

Too late.

Deadpool walked up to the camera.

Then through it.

Deadpool stepped into static, then black.

Then into a white void, lit like a Windows screensaver.

A desk appeared.

Behind it sat a guy — hoodie, headphones, typing frantically on a laptop.

The Author.

Deadpool smiled, leaned in, and tapped the screen from the inside.

"Hey there, narrative god. Miss me?"

The Author screamed, flung the headphones off, and fell out of his chair.

"HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET HERE?!"

Deadpool shrugged. "System oversight. Luck stat penalties. Boredom. You pick."

"You're not allowed to be in here!"

Deadpool squinted at the manuscript.

"Wait, what's this—'Chapter 45: The Gate Appears'? Don't mind if I do."

The Author threw a pen at him. It bounced off his mask.

"GET OUT!"

"Fine, fine," Deadpool sighed. "But you owe me better loot. And a better title. 'Shadow-Dodger'? Really?"

Back in Reality

Deadpool popped back into the hallway, mid-sentence.

"—and then I told him, 'That's not a pen, that's a cry for help!'"

Wolverine blinked.

Jinho blinked harder.

Lennart looked like he wanted to call a psychic.

A Nexus system notification pinged.

[SYSTEM WARNING: Unauthorized Meta-Layer Breach Detected]

Current Luck: -130

Deadpool exhaled and looked at the readers.

"See? This is what happens when you try to engage with your creator. You get punished for ambition."

He turned to Jinho.

"So, where's the real action? I came here to fight monsters and flex on protagonists."
