Chapter 68 - Crisis

Personal points are just way too few!

No matter how hard Suzune Horikita racked her brains, she just couldn't figure out a way to earn more personal points. But she couldn't give up either, or else she'd have to let Kaoru Mitoma look under her skirt every day. What a joke—wouldn't that basically make her a prostitute?

Besides, even if Suzune Horikita were to sell her body, it wouldn't be for a measly thousands personal points!

Kaoru Mitoma was clearly just taking advantage of her!

So she came up with a few little schemes. Even though Sae Chabashira reward was lower than she'd expected, at least it was something.

"Huh, you want to charge for tutoring?" Kikyo Kushida blinked.

"But Hirata-kun and everyone else's study sessions are totally free, you know. Maybe nobody will want to sign up?"

"There are too many people signing up for his study group, so some might get overlooked. I can do one-on-one tutoring. Not just for this midterm, but you can come to me for help with your studies anytime."

"How much is the tutoring fee?"

At this, Horikita Suzune hesitated a little. She'd never done anything like private tutoring before and had no idea what the going rate was.

"Twenty thousand private points per person,"

"You don't have to pay me right now, just as long as you give it to me before next semester."

That kind of price would starve her to death in the real world, but given the current situation in Class D, twenty thousand private points was still a bit steep.

Even if you spread it out over each month, it would still come to about four or five thousand private points. For Class D, who couldn't see any hope of private points coming in anytime soon, it was probably an astronomical figure.

"Horikita, do you really need private points that badly right now?"

Kushida Kikyo put on a worried face, but she actually knew exactly what was going on with her, and even felt a little like laughing.

"Just looking for something to do, that's all." Horikita Suzune didn't want to talk about it. She'd gotten caught in the enemy's trap because she lost her cool, and then was forced to lift her skirt—just thinking about it was humiliating.

"I see. I can help, but I can't guarantee anyone will actually show up, you know?" Kushida Kikyo smiled a little awkwardly.

"It's fine. As long as you can get Sudo and the others here, I'll talk to them myself." Horikita Suzune knew she had zero influence, so this was her only option.

Kushida Kikyo nodded, then lowered her head to use her phone. Not long after, Ike Kanji and the others appeared at the entrance of the café.

"Sorry for calling you out so suddenly, but Horikita has something she wants to say to you guys."

"W-what is it!?" For some reason, Ike Kanji and Yamauchi Haruki faces changed, while only Sudo Ken seemed annoyed.

"What the hell, I was about to play basketball. I don't have time to listen to this woman's nonsense." He thought Horikita Suzune would butt heads with him like last time, but what he heard next left him stunned.

"Playing basketball and attending extra classes don't actually conflict. But if you get expelled for failing, your dream of going pro in basketball will be shattered." Horikita Suzune looked at him coldly.

"Sudou-kun, you don't want to lose your chance to play basketball, do you?"

Ken Sudou was stunned for a moment. Not just him—Horikita Suzune turned to Ike Kanji and Yamauchi Haruki as well.

"Even though I really can't stand people like you, even the most useless trash can be put to use somewhere."

"Hey, hey, hey! Who are you calling trash?" Ike Kanji glared at her, gritting his teeth.

"Heh, if you don't want to be trash who gets expelled right away, then prove it to me."

Horikita Suzune pulled out a notebook she'd prepared in advance.

"After the last study session, I finally figured out your level. To put it simply, you're academic failures with no foundation at all—no different from elementary school kids."

She said that, but still handed the notebook to the nearest person, Ken Sudou.

"This is... "

Ken Sudou opened it and couldn't help but look surprised.

"I've already organized all the key points. All you have to do is review according to this."

"Also, to balance your so-called club activities, we need to have a discussion session during every class break to review what we've just learned. That'll be way more effective than spending an hour or two after school on extra lessons."

"B-but I can't understand anything in class at all," Ike Kanji stammered.

"Don't worry about it." Horikita Suzune said calmly.

At this point, her determination couldn't be any clearer. She had this aura that said she was going to make sure you learned, no matter what, over the next few days. Maybe it was her seriousness, but even Sudou Ken seemed a little more agreeable.

"Studying is so boring. Honestly, I have zero interest in it."

"Good. Just keep studying nonstop with that attitude."

Sudou Kenji was taken aback, not understanding what Horikita Suzune meant.

"If you can't even stick with this, are you going to give up when you run into trouble in professional basketball?"

Horikita looked like she was thinking on his behalf.

"Besides, where else but here can you keep chasing your dream of going pro in basketball? If I remember right, a lot of basketball players start out in high school, and you have to play in the national tournaments to get noticed by teams."

"Why go this far?"

"I want private points. Each person tutoring fee is twenty thousand private points."

"What, you're charging us?!" Ike Kanji almost jumped out of his seat.

"We might as well just go to Hirata's study group!" Yamauchi Haruki was a little pissed off. How could he possibly have money to give this woman?

"Give it up. Now that there's a personal point reward, the whole class is going to be more motivated than usual. No one else would be willing to teach you like I am." Horikita Suzune shot back coldly. Right now, they only had two options in front of them: either drop out, or accept her tutoring.

"You really are crazy, woman." Sudou Ken had figured it out, his expression especially complicated.

"You can pay the twenty thousand personal points before next semester. I'm not going to force you to pay right now," Horikita Suzune said.

"Spending twenty thousand personal points to get rid of the risk of expulsion and keep enjoying high school life—I think that's a fair deal."

"What if we can't pay by then?"

"Then I'll take the loss." Yeah, right. By next semester, she'd be someone else's plaything anyway, so whether they paid or not wouldn't matter.

Right now, Horikita Suzune was willing to do whatever it took to get rid of her own crisis.

"Fine, fine, we'll do it!" Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji eyes lit up.

Horikita Suzune looked at Sudou Ken, who turned his face away, acting like he didn't care.

"Fine, I'll go along with you, woman."

Off to the side, Kushida Kikyo eyes flashed with a hint of darkness. Just how did Kaoru Mitoma manage to get this girl to cooperate like this?

She suddenly found herself curious about Kaoru Mitoma.
