He lay back on his pillow, contemplating his decision.
"One of the greatest curses in existence..." Nexus began recalling what his curse was capable of.
"The Eternal Plagues curse, as the name suggests, is an incredibly powerful curse cast upon by a powerful sorcerer using his own spiritual energy and remaining Mana.
At least holy magic at [tier 8] would be needed. And a priest would do it for an arm and a leg, even for dad.
But if this system can cure it and also enhance my growth, I could be prepared by my sixteenth birthday, so Mary Rosewood wouldn't be able to kill me!" He told himself.
He turned to the system, a smile forming on his face.
"How do I get rid of this curse?" He asked. The screen vanished and reappeared with a new message.

"A pretty useful skill," Nexus thought. "Could be useful for the future too."
As he pondered on the [Soul ward skill], realization struck him like a storm. He turned to the system.
"How can I even unlock skills?" He asked the system. The message is updated once again.
『Through completing quests, the host can gain skill points or SP. He host may use the SP they gain to either unlock skills or enhance their stats』
His question was answered, and his worry was unfounded. He let out a sigh and turned to look at the scenery outside the window of his room.
"I can't complete any quests in this state. Better wait and see..." He thought, recalling his injuries.
Suddenly, a ding sound rang out through Nexus' ears.
『Since the host is incapable of completing quests in this state, would you like to give the gacha a try? Y/N 』
Nexus' eyes widened. 'A gacha?' He asked himself. 'Sure?' He answered, not positive about his answer.
The screen instantly changed. But this time, the display wasn't a few sentences. This time, it was a wheel you would see in casinos.
On it, there were multiple coloured sections. An arrow was located between two sections. Below the wheel, a button labelled 'Spin' flashed with a dim light.
He let out a sigh and stretched out his hand. 'At least it's something,' he thought.
His finger made contact with the button, and the wheel began spinning. The wheel dpun for a few seconds before finally stopping at a larger section of the wheel, which took up about 40% of the wheel.
The display changed as the familiar ding sound rang out.
『Congratulations, host! You have won 15 free Skill points!! You may use them to raise your stats or gain skills』
A smile tugged on Nexus's lips. "Lucky me!" He let out a huff of air and stretched his hands.
"Ability tree," Nexus commanded the system.
The notification shifted into a diagram of a network of dots. The one at the very bottom flashed in a dim light, similar to a button.

A strange and unfamiliar sensation washed over Nexus as the display on the screen changed into a progress bar.
A couple of seconds later, both the strange feeling and the progress bar disappeared, now with a new display in front of him.

A smirk crept up on Nexus' face as he read through the description. The display chandler into a screen containing the information of his new skill.

He dismissed the entirety of the system and covered himself with his blanket. 'I wonder what the next skill is?' He pondered.
But this wasn't time for that. He was in pain and rest seemed nice right now.
