"The CEO is not around today". His secretary informed me simply and I tried my best not to react too visibly to her words. When in fact I was deeply disappointed.
My grip on the files tightened and all the excitement that brought me here vanished.
"What was I even thinking?
I'm sure he barely remembered I exists"
"That's alright, I'm here to give these to him. He needs to sign them. Can you give them to him?" I replied rigidly and gave the files to her.
"I will do so". She replied, but I already spun around and walked towards the elevator as fast as I could.
How much of a fool can I be to come all the way here anyways?.
I was still knee-deep in regret when an unfamiliar voice stopped me by the lobby.
"Hey, excuse me" He said with a hand raised when I was about to walk past him.
Standing at the same height as me, his black emotionless eyes and wide grin made me take a step back.
"Do I know him?"
