You may be wondering why I acted like I didn't want to go. The truth is, I actually did want to visit the capital.
I could finally buy novels the kind society doesn't consider educational.
I didn't want to go to the tea party. Not because I don't like them, I'd go to most parties as long as there's food. But the reason I didn't want to go was because of who was hosting the tea party.
Her Royal Highness, the First princess, well technically the only princess and youngest member of the royal family. Princess Sophia.
Not because she's not nice, don't get me wrong from what I had read in the first four chapters before I died. She seemed really nice.
The problem is she's an important side character, she's probably one of the wisest in the kingdom.
Though no one outside of the royal family's inner circle knew about her intelligence and even fewer knew she advised the king about most matters.
And most importantly she was close with the first male lead of the story, first prince, prince Stephen and the heroine.
She often advised them and helped when they needed it. The heroine in particular, was fond of her and quickly claimed her as her friend.
I didn't know what part of the story I was in. I could be in the middle! Which meant that if Princess Sophia was hosting the party there was a high chance that that disaster magnet would be there!
On the bright side, having Sophia on my side might actually be an advantage.
I arrived at the tea party and to no surprise there were only girls.
I scanned left and right, hiding behind things to make sure the heroine wasn't there while Trixie just stared at me like she wanted to quit being my maid.
One of the maids working there approached me as she curtsied saying, "Good afternoon miss Deacon. This way a table was already reserved for you."
I was taken aback that a table was reserved for me. Why?
I followed the maid sitting down at a table where there were multiple baked goods which made all my worries wash away.
Before I could eat anything I was suddenly surrounded by a bunch of women.
"Did that maid just say you were from the Deacon house?" one of them asked, looking super excited.
"U-uh yes. Why do you ask?" I replied confused while also hoping they would get to the point soon so I could eat.
"So the rumors really are true, Lord Sebastain really does have a secret love child!"
"Of course not it was his former lover's child but she passed away and he took her in!" another person exclaimed.
Another person rolled their eyes saying, "No he couldn't get over his other lover who was stolen from him by his best friend so he made a deal with a potion maker to create one for him obviously."
What did she mean obviously?! That was the most random and dumb explanation-slash-theory I've ever heard.
Wait… could it actually be true?
Before I knew it, they were arguing about my past before I became a Deacon and I actually got invested.
I mean what if I really was an assassin but then Lord Sebastian aka my adopted father was the first to show me kindness in my whole life and took me in as his daughter so I gave up on killing him.
Was Lord Sebastian really that important that people were talking about him this much? And what exactly was he like that people think I could be his secret love child?!
After about thirty minutes of them surrounding me and arguing over which theory sounded most plausible. They turned towards me simultaneously asking, "What's the truth?!"
Though someone also exclaimed after them, "Does he have a lover?!"
Everyone looked at the lady surprised before nodding as they said, "Answer that too!"
What! They were asking me? How was I meant to know I haven't even met him yet! And was he so good looking they all wanted to know if he was available!
I wonder if he's better-looking than Eugene? Nah, no way.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the noble ladies who weren't acting very noble like, as they urged me to answer their questions.
I stuttered, not able to give them a proper answer when a delicate feminine voice said, "Please ladies, let's not forget our standings, we are noble ladies so we should act like it. Can't you see your making Lady Deacon uncomfortable."
We all turned towards the source as we saw a 12 year old girl with beautiful light blue hair tied in a bun and blue eyes as she smiled saying, "I apologise for being late everyone I had an unexpected matter to attend to but I'm happy you were all able to come."
It was definitely her, the first princess, princess Sophia Vasilios.
Everyone curtsied as they greeted her while I sat there in absolute shock. Even when they apologise for making me 'uncomfortable' I still wasn't paying attention and just stared at the princess. I didn't even notice when they left to sit somewhere else.
There was something the book didn't mention when the book first introduced the princess in chapter 1.
She… she…
SHE WAS THE CUTEST PERSON I HAD EVER SEEN!
I didn't know she was this young! I always assumed the genius in the story was about 16 years old.
I couldn't speak or say anything as she asked me if I was okay.
I wanted to hug her so much, I wanted to pinch her cheeks! I wanted to braid her hair!
Can you even compare being handsome to being cute?
Anyways she was definitely ranked higher than Eugene when it comes to being good looking or I guess, being born with cheat-level looks?
Now that I think about it I always wanted a younger sister! Hugging her once was worth getting executed over!
I stood up, accepting whatever fate would befall me when, as if hearing my thoughts, Trixie suddenly 'tripped' and spilled (thankfully) lukewarm tea all over me.
I glared at her while she shot me a smile before grabbing napkins saying, "Lady Selene I'm so sorry please forgive me for my clumsiness." switching emotions in seconds as she tried to clean the tea.
Sophia spoke up with her cute and adorable voice as she said, "Lady Deacon if you wish you may head inside, the maids will give you another dress to wear."
"Yes thank you princess Sophie." I replied, trying not to strangle Trixie to death.
