Two signals. Two vessels. One memory that was never meant to surface.
Ava — Below the Archive
The door didn't exist on any schematic.
Not on the Archive's internal node grid. Not on the master floorplan Ava had memorized as a child.
And yet… here it was.
A narrow, dust-caked panel tucked behind an emergency stairwell on Sublevel 4. It looked like part of the wall. Seamless. Solid. Featureless, except for a single vertical slit—just wide enough for an Archive pass.
Behind it, Ava felt something subtle. Not heat. Not pressure.
Something older.
Like the air was holding its breath.
Like memory was waiting.
She had followed the pull like a compass twitching at a false north. No voice. No trace. Just a weight, drawn from Echo's last words.
"She's beneath us.""She remembers you."
Theta-9.
