Chapter 45 - The Icy Rescue and the Mysterious Girl

While Kundan was being "royally treated" behind the bars, Mr. Saxena's desperate attempts to bail him out kept failing. Jai had made sure of that. He had filed such intense and unbailable charges against Kundan that walking out of jail was now an impossible dream for him.

Two Days Later...

Inside the lavish conference room of The Savoy Hotel, London, Jai was leading a high-stakes business meeting. The objective? To expand Singhania Enterprises across all of Europe. Powerful businessmen from every corner of the continent sat around the table, listening intently as Jai laid out his vision with authority and clarity. The meeting lasted two hours, filled with numbers, strategies, and powerful presentations.

As soon as it concluded, Jai left without wasting a moment. Meanwhile, Aman collected all the key details from the meeting, compiled them into a single file, and stored it on a pen drive. He removed the drive from his laptop and pocketed it securely.

He stepped out of the hotel, slid into his car, and began driving. As the vehicle crossed a bridge, something unexpected happened—a girl suddenly appeared in front of his car, running frantically. There was no time to swerve. The car screeched to a halt, but not before brushing her. She lost her balance and fell into the icy waters below.

Aman slammed the brakes and leapt out of the car. He rushed to the bridge's edge and saw the girl flailing helplessly in the freezing river below. Without a second thought, he jumped into the water.

The river was bone-chilling, but Aman didn't care. The girl was drowning—clearly unable to swim. He reached her just in time, wrapped one arm around her waist, and dragged her toward the shore. As he pulled her up into his arms and laid her down on the dry ground, a shadowy figure from afar secretly snapped their photograph before disappearing with his men.

Aman checked the girl's pulse—faint but there. He turned her on her stomach and applied pressure between her shoulder blades. A stream of water spilled from her mouth as she coughed violently, gasping for air.

But her body trembled violently from the cold—and moments later, she fainted.

Without hesitation, Aman carried her to his car and drove straight to the hospital.

At the Hospital...

The girl slowly regained consciousness. Aman entered the ward as she opened her eyes.

"Thank you, sir," she whispered, her voice weak but sincere.

Aman smiled warmly. "You're most welcome."

He sat beside her and asked gently, "What's your name? And what happened back there?"

"My name is Shanti, from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh," she replied. "My parents died in a road accident when I was little. My uncle and aunt raised me. I have two cousins. I'm a primary school teacher in Delhi and live in a hostel with my friend. I was searching for job opportunities online when I came across an opening in London. So, I came here with my friend for an interview. After the interview, some men started following me. They snatched my purse—everything was in it, my documents, money… I ran to save myself, and that's when I… ended up in front of your car."

Aman listened attentively, then reassured her. "Don't worry. I'll take care of the hospital bill. My people will drop you back to your friend."

"Thank you so much, sir," she said emotionally. "I'll repay you once I return to India. Can I have your phone number?"

Aman laughed lightly. "No need for that. Just take care of yourself."

He stood, gave her a reassuring look, and walked out. Later, he changed out of his wet clothes at a nearby hotel and then returned to Jai's bungalow.

The Next Day...

Jai was getting dressed for a birthday party hosted by one of his business friends. Ever since the Saxena party incident, he was wary of taking Shivani along to social events. He decided to go alone, accompanied by four bodyguards.

At the party, Jai tried calling Aman.

Back at the bungalow, Aman was still asleep—his health had taken a toll after the river incident. Shivani walked into his room and found him sneezing uncontrollably, burning with fever. Alarmed, she quickly called a doctor.

The doctor examined him and said, "It's just a bad cold. I'll prescribe some medicines." He handed Shivani the prescription and left.

She sent a servant to get the medicines, then gave them to Aman and urged him to rest. Just then, Aman's phone rang.

Shivani picked it up. Just as she was about to say hello, Jai's voice barked from the other side, "Where the hell have you been, Aman?! I've been calling nonstop. Why aren't you picking up?"

Before she could respond, Jai added, "Where are you? Why haven't you reached yet?"

Aman took the phone from her and replied, "I'm on my way, Jai. I'll be there in half an hour."

He ended the call and started to get out of bed. Shivani stopped him.

"You're not going anywhere! You need rest!"

"Shivani, if I don't go, it'll cause problems."

"There won't be any problems. Chaman will go in your place."

"Chaman?" Aman looked utterly confused. "Who's Chaman?"

Shivani giggled. "You don't know about your brother Chaman?"

"My brother? Since when do I have a brother named Chaman?"

Shivani burst into laughter. "Since just a few minutes ago, apparently!"
