Chapter 396 - Fury

Without Uther, his spiritual mentor, by Arthas's side, his negative emotions were easily guided out by Kel'Thuzad.

Now, Arthas's heart was filled with thoughts of venting his anger; he couldn't wait to smash Kel'Thuzad's corpse into pieces!

"Arthas!"

A delicate shout interrupted the accumulation of Arthas's negative emotions.

It was Jaina!

"Arthas, now is not the time to be angry. Let's quickly go check on Captain Falric's situation. Hopefully, nothing has happened to the granary!"

"You're right, let's go quickly!"

Arthas tried hard to suppress the negative emotions in his heart. After a long while, he stopped looking at Kel'Thuzad's corpse, mounted his warhorse, and ran towards the Andorhal granary without looking back.

As soon as the people of Lordaeron left, Kel'Thuzad's corpse immediately began to rot. His skin became pale and swollen, then ulcerated, completing a rotting process that would normally take many days in just a few seconds.

Onyxia, hiding in the bell tower, witnessed this scene. This disgusting scene could not scare away the former Black Dragon Princess; she wanted to get closer to observe.

Garrosh grabbed her arm: "What are you going to do?"

Onyxia turned her head and said to Garrosh: "Master, that necromancer's death is strange. He possessed at least Legendary-tier strength, yet he was hammered to death by that young paladin. This is not normal!"

"Onyx, he originally had a desire to die; this was also part of their plan, using his death to open a gap in Arthas's heart. Otherwise, with so many life-saving methods available to mages, how could he die so easily."

"Wait a little longer, there must be a follow-up!"

Garrosh spoke, and Onyxia could only obediently listen, patiently staring in the direction of Kel'Thuzad's corpse, while Garrosh looked at Arthas.

"Here they come!"

Sure enough, after a while, two acolytes completely wrapped in black robes appeared from the shadows of the street corner. They came to Kel'Thuzad's corpse, piously performed a special salute, and then one of the acolytes released a flame, directly burning the corrupted bones into a pile of bone ash. The other acolyte took out a container and carefully collected all the bone ash, without missing a single bit.

"What are they doing!" Ilucia, who had been watching for a long time, asked with a question mark on her face.

"They are collecting the bone ash of that necromancer," Onyxia, the knowledgeable ten-thousand-year-old dragon, said, "Through a ritual, the owner of the bone ash can be transformed into a Lich using the bone ash as a medium."

"A Lich!"

"That's right, a Lich. Only mages with High-tier strength or above can be transformed. The stronger the strength, the more magic power is needed. After the transformation, they possess an immortal undead body. They can be resurrected even after being killed. The only weakness is their phylactery!"

After the two acolytes cleaned up Kel'Thuzad, they turned and left, disappearing into the shadows again.

"Master, aren't we going to intervene?" Onyxia looked puzzled. Since changing her power attribute, some of her concepts have also been shifting towards the Order side. Seeing evil creatures always makes her itchy, wanting to purify them.

"No, we are just watching the show, but we, the Scarlet Crusade, are not spectators of history. This history will develop according to my will!"

When Garrosh said this, far away, outside the town of Andorhal, Chromie, who was silently peeking from the mountains behind Chillwind Camp, sneezed loudly!

On Captain Falric's side, he led his soldiers in formation, constantly clearing the brainless zombies on the main road, and rushed past the burning main urban area. The granary quickly appeared in front of them. Those granaries storing grain were not affected by the spreading flames.

At this time, Arthas hurriedly rode over, forcefully reined in his warhorse at the entrance of the warehouse, jumped off the warhorse at the fastest speed, and kicked open the door of a warehouse!

The scene of a warehouse full of grain that Arthas expected did not appear. What came into view was an empty warehouse!

"No! Damn necromancer!"

Looking at the scattered grains on the ground, as well as the corpses of dozens of rats, Arthas let out an angry and sorrowful wail!

Then, not giving up, he ordered the soldiers to open all the warehouses, hoping that a miracle could happen. As a result, all the warehouses were empty, and judging from the dust on the ground, these warehouses had been empty for a long time!

"The grain... has all been spread out!" Arthas muttered to himself, "The plague! This is all the plague!"

The grain carrying the plague had been distributed throughout the country. He didn't know how many people would lose their lives because of this. He could already imagine the kingdom being severely damaged in this disaster!

Thinking of this, Arthas's whole body was trembling!

He had failed. Even though he had killed Kel'Thuzad, who spread the plague, the necromancer's conspiracy had already succeeded!

"Arthas..." Jaina didn't know how to comfort this childhood friend. "We tried our best..."

"No! We can't give up yet!"

If Jaina could see auras at this time, she should have been able to see that the golden aura emanating from Arthas had already been stained with a trace of black.

"We're going north, to Hearthglen!"

Arthas clenched his fist and slammed it hard on the door frame. "The people there need to be warned! Hopefully, we're still in time. I won't let the necromancer's conspiracy succeed!"

The soldiers following Arthas were silent, frightened by the angry prince. Falric was not in a good position to express his opinion at this time, so he could only follow the possessed prince and urge his horse north all the way, without even bothering to eliminate those walking corpses along the way.

After riding continuously for four hours, Arthas, as a warrior turned paladin, only needed to activate the Holy Light to circulate throughout his body when he was tired to regain his vitality. The remaining soldiers, in addition to the members of the Silver Hand Knights, were also elites among the elites that Terenas had carefully selected to protect Arthas. A mere four hours of marching was nothing, the only one suffering was Jaina.

As a pampered princess of Kul Tiras, and also a mage, she had never suffered such hardship!

Fatigue had deeply penetrated her heart, and for several seconds, her brain was in darkness, and her thighs had lost feeling, almost causing her to fall off her warhorse.

Helplessly, Jaina immediately reined in her horse, letting it stop in place.

Arthas noticed this and had to order the team to stop, then, radiating impatient emotions, he returned to Jaina's side.

"Jaina... what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry, Arthas, I'm really too tired, I need to rest for a while!"

Arthas's heart was caught in a battle, on one side was concern for Jaina, the girl he admired, and on the other side was the urgency of time, making him very conflicted.

After agonizing for a moment, Arthas gritted his teeth and asked:

"How long will it take, Jaina..."

Jaina wanted to say that it would be best if she could sleep for a night, but in the end, she only said: "I only need a while, to eat something and recover some strength!"

Jaina trembled as she dismounted, sitting down on the grass beside the road.

The current Arthas made her feel very strange, negative emotions controlled his heart, no longer the kind, understanding, kind, and warm prince he used to be.

She didn't want her childhood friend to become like this!
