Chapter 473 - Kalimdor at peace

The night elves are not exactly in dire straits, but they are certainly experiencing turbulent times. Their traditional territories are now largely unsuitable for habitation, with Mount Hyjal scarred by the explosion of Nordrassil. The northern Winterspring is too cold, while Ashenvale to the south and Felwood to the west are heavily plagued by demons, effectively eliminating half of their lands! Currently, the night elf population has largely migrated south to Feralas, with the remaining majority concentrated in Darkshore and Moonglade, making both regions overcrowded!

Tyrande's idea is to plant a branch of Nordrassil on a giant island northwest of Darkshore called Teldrassil and allow it to grow into a new World Tree! Originally, this proposal would have been made by Fandral Staghelm, but now that Fandral has become Galen's disciple, his focus is on Eldre'Thalas. Without the authority, he doesn't meddle in other affairs, and Fandral can only manage the southern territories of the night elves. This places the future of many citizens on Tyrande's shoulders, forcing the High Priestess to seek other solutions.

"No, my dear, I do not agree with this proposal," unexpectedly, Malfurion did not support planting a new World Tree. "While the dragons participated in the War of the Ancients, only the red and blue dragons did... along with that golden dragon of unknown origin!" "The bronze and green dragons have not indicated that they will provide us with assistance. Without the blessings of the dragons, this newborn World Tree will be a hateful thing!"

Malfurion's concerns are not without basis. In fact, the night elves have attempted to cultivate new World Trees from Nordrassil branches after the War of the Ancients! In Grizzly Hills, Northrend, there is a withered World Tree called Vordrassil. Four thousand five hundred years ago, a type of ore called Saronite veins emerged throughout Azeroth, greedily absorbing the life force of plants and animals on the land. The Cenarion Circle druids, recalling the World Tree's ability to heal the land around Mount Hyjal, conceived a plan to plant new World Trees to suppress the strange Saronite. The druids cut six magical branches from Nordrassil and planted them at locations around the world where Saronite veins were active. These locations included Ashenvale and Feralas in Kalimdor, the Eastern Plaguelands and Hinterlands in the Eastern Kingdoms, and Crystalsong Forest in Northrend. These branches quickly took root and grew into new giant trees, inheriting some of Nordrassil's characteristics and connecting to the Emerald Dream.

The five giant trees acted as one, guiding the energy of the Emerald Dream into the real world like a resonance. This energy strengthened the resilience of the surrounding wildlife and effectively erased the nearby Saronite veins. Seeing that the planting method was effective, the druids brought the largest branch and planted it on the largest Saronite vein in Grizzly Hills. Soon, the branch grew into a giant tree no less impressive than Nordrassil, stopping the growth of the Saronite vein and revitalizing nature.

This new giant tree was named Andrassil, meaning "Crown of the Snows!" However, because its roots ran too deep, even reaching the lair of the Old God Yogg-Saron, the dark power of the Old God began to leak out. Without the blessings of the guardian dragons, Andrassil could not resist the corruption of the Old God. The night elf druids, fearing that Andrassil would cause a great disaster, destroyed the World Tree. The fallen World Tree left behind only a giant stump standing in Grizzly Hills, renamed Vordrassil, meaning "Broken Crown." With the bloody lesson before them, Malfurion would not agree to this approach!

Seeing that her beloved had rejected the proposal, Tyrande could only express that she would find other ways to settle the people. The subsequent meeting continued to revolve around the encirclement and suppression of demons, the resettlement of refugees, the support of supplies, and trade between the Argent Crusade. The night elves also began to establish diplomatic relations with other races.

Malfurion saw in the Emerald Dream that new crises would continue to emerge in Azeroth in the future, and it would be difficult to overcome them with the night elves alone. Finding allies was essential, and the establishment of embassies would facilitate communication between the races. At the same time, the establishment of a new capital was also imminent. From the gleam in Tyrande's eyes, it seemed that the idea of planting a World Tree had not been dispelled.

Kalimdor entered a period of recuperation, while the Eastern Kingdoms were still at war. Under the continuous offensive of the Alliance army, the Scourge was retreating steadily. The armies of the Kingdom of Gilneas and the Kingdom of Stormwind had recovered large areas of Silverpine Forest, pushing the front line to the border between Silverpine Forest and Tirisfal Glades. Danath Trollbane of Stromgarde, together with the army of Hearthglen, successfully recovered Andorhal.

New defensive lines were established at the Fearstone Farm and Dalson's Tears, cutting off the Scourge between Tirisfal Glades and the Eastern Plaguelands! In the Eastern Plaguelands, with the return of Archbishop Alonsus Faol and the authorization of Calia Menethil, Uther Lightbringer re-established the Knights of the Silver Hand and established a defensive line from Stratholme to Light's Hope Chapel as the core, fully recovering the Northern territories. At the same time, in the southern part of the Eastern Plaguelands, a large number of refugees from small settlements broken by the undead Scourge were settled here.

High General Abbendis established New Avalon City based on the port of Tyr's Hand. New Avalon City, connected to Havenshire in the north and Tyr's Hand in the west, became a logistical support base for the Knights of the Silver Hand, constantly supplying Light's Hope Chapel with food, equipment, recruits, and Havenshire warhorses! Everything was developing in a good direction. Calia and a group of old ministers of Lordaeron felt that the revival of Lordaeron was in sight!

Only Galen knew that they had a long way to go. The current victory was only because the undead Scourge was in a dormant stage, and the Lich King was observing the final result of the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Now that the outcome has been decided, Archimonde has fallen, and the Burning Legion has been defeated, the mountain pressing on the Lich King's head is gone. As long as Kil'jaeden's arrival is prevented, Ner'zhul can continue to dominate Azeroth. Galen guessed that the Lich King's next plan was to kill the dreadlord Varimathras, who was responsible for monitoring him, and then mobilize the army to destroy the living in the Eastern Kingdoms. But how could Galen let him have his way? You have your plans, and I have my countermeasures!

"Thranduil, take this magic stone and go to Ashenvale to invite your old friend to the Crusader Fortress!"
