Chapter 12 - Effects of the radiant knights defeat

The prisoners were secure , and the battlefield had been cleaned up. The rebels had again won a devastating victory, but if the empire was worth its salt, then they would adapt in the upcoming battles making their tactics to be less effective. The rebels at this moment had lost their their edge of surprise, and any commander worth his salt would immediately formulate tactics to counter the effects of the cannons .

The truth was that he needed guns, guns that could work side by side with cannons. But the problem was that he didn't have the kind of gunpowder that would be used in the kind of weapons that he knew of . His mind was spinning as he was thinking of a weapon that would greatly cover up the shortcoming of the cannons.

Soon as if in a trance he moved over to a pile of paper and started to scribble like a man possessed. After a while the blueprint had formed , it was for a single shot shotgun with a riffled barrel and a slug that was also made for the barrel type. This slug was going to be encased in a center-fire copper cartridge filled with black powder. In theory this would have an effective range of between 90 to one hundred meters. There were obviously drawback especially that the weapon would be prone to fouling due to the black powder.

Before he left he also created a blueprint for a steam engine, he believed that it was time that Patagonia entered the industrial revolution, as it would serve as a starter for more innovations.

He handed over the blueprints to the blacksmiths with clear instructions that the gun takes precedence in production. Now he was heavy with anticipation of what the weapon would turn out to be.

A week later Magnus in shame led the remainder of his forces into the city of Katheris where his father ruled, and soon word spread, rebels had gathered in Patagonia and had defeated the counts sons one by one . They said that the rebels could conjure fire and thunder to do their biddings and that they had dimmed the light of the radiant knight.

The count in rage threw a vase at Magnus head which broke and caused some blood to trickle down his face.

Magnus winced in pain, but this pain was much more bearable than the loss he had incurred whilst dealing with mere rebels.

" Go and clean yourself up, I will deal with your failure later." Count Bataglia spoke in a low but commanding voice.

After Magnus left , the count then spoke into the dark corner of the room, "Enter Laplace."

" What is your command my Lord?" Laplace asked as he seemingly materialized from the shadows.

" We need to crush this rebellion soon, we have not yet sent our monthly tribute of ore to the imperium, I would not have them question my loyalty, not when all those vipers are slithering around waiting for an opportunity to take away all my possession."

" My Lord , I propose you meet this matter head on , pretend as if you just found out about this rebellion and send a letter to the imperium telling them that you are in the process of crushing them. The rebels have taken a bulk of your force because they were prepared for you and you underestimated them by rushing in unprepared and coupled with this new weapon of theirs.

I propose we prepare a great force and supplies as if we are preparing for a siege and by the time we hit them , they would have been drowned in their victory and not be expecting any new attacks , it is only then that we would be able crush this rebellion." Laplace said.

" Are you suggesting that these people are organized and have a leader?" The count asked

" I am clearly saying that if you manage to capture and subdue this individual, his knowledge of battle tactics and that new weapon would be able to increase your prominence in the empire, just imagine gifting that weapon to the emperor, or using it against your enemies." Laplace replied.

As an advisor, acco we cArding to the worlds standard, Laplace was one of the best because his advice could actually work , at least that was if Ceaser in his past life wasn't in the CIA.

Ceaser had thought about multiple scenarios that could occur and had come up with ways of countering them. Before he was recruited by the CIA in his past life , he had spent about two years with the FBI behavior analysis unit who specialized in studying the human psychology and catching criminals who had unusual psychological readings, mostly psychopaths of all nature, sociopaths and high empaths. To even begin studying these people one must be an expert in human psychology already.

By the end of that week just as Ceaser had predicted, many of the subjugated and enslaved people of Alfonse who heard of the rebels from Patagonia defeating the radiant knight had broken free and escaped from nearby towns and cities in hopes of joining the fight against the Blackthorn empire.

By the end of that week alone, seven hundred immigrants had come into Patagonia. This has already been put into consideration as there was a mandatory registration where they gave their name, occupation or skill and age.

When they entered the town, they were surprised to see wooden houses neatly lined up with wide clean streets between them, they were no beggars on the street begging for alms nor were they filth or animal droppings littered on the street. Everybody in the town acted with purpose and no one was idle.

As for housing, the construction team now had three hundred men who were building between sixteen to twenty houses per day which in the five month which construction started they were able to build between 2400 to 3000 cabins , not enough to provide everyone with houses but it was a significant number , seeing as most of these people didn't have livable houses few months back .

But with the influx of new comers , construction needed to be increased.
