Chapter 32 - SFDI: Chapter 32

"Yawn… things look pretty bad. Licht and Valtos seem to be in trouble!"

A languid man yawned, looking like he could fall asleep at any moment.

"Well, even I, who hate trouble, have to help my friends."

With that, he used the same magic as Patri, teleporting to Yami's side.

Mimicry Magic, capable of using any magic the user has seen. This magic was perfectly suited to its user: the false Rhya, one of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, a reincarnated elf from 500 years ago. Because the Eye of the Midnight Sun's reincarnation magic was more complete, their magic power was stronger.

"A very unique pattern! Oh well, it's unimportant."

Rhya reached out and touched Yami's Grimoire, genuinely curious.

"Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Avidya Blunt Strike!"

Yami unleashed a swift, precise strike, so fast that even Rhya, mimicking light magic, couldn't dodge.

"Ouch, that's troublesome! But this little wound will heal right up." Rhya sighed, using recovery magic on himself.

"Light Recovery Magic: Healing Ray of Light!"

Rhya retreated; his provocation wasn't random. As he moved, the other two rescued Patri and Valtos.

Patri relaxed, addressing the girl before him. "You've come! I'm sorry, I couldn't defeat them alone."

The pink-haired girl, her eyes filled with emptiness, gently asked, "Licht, does it hurt?"

"Fana, it doesn't hurt anymore now that you're here!" Patri replied.

The girl, also one of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, was Fana, the embodiment of hatred, the opposite of love.

"It's alright now! Flame Recovery Magic: Phoenix's Feather Robe!"

Blazing flames enveloped Patri, not burning him but healing his injuries.

"I'm relieved you're here!" Licht said from within the flames.

Rhya yawned. "Licht, it's troublesome to shoulder everything alone."

Fana added, "I hate those who hurt Licht!"

Finally, the lion-like man, Vetto, the last of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, spoke. "Damn it, you insignificant ants dared to hurt my friend. I'll crush you like ants, tear off your wings like a butterfly!"

Even Asta, unable to sense magic, felt the three emanating a dangerous aura. Yami and Drake sensed their immense, malevolent magical power.

Patri said proudly, "Let me introduce them! They are the three strongest members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun!"

"Strongest?" Asta couldn't believe it. He'd witnessed Patri's strength; three stronger individuals were unimaginable.

"Yes! In certain situations, their strength surpasses even mine. Your Clover Kingdom, as its name suggests, uses the clover as a symbol. The clover leaves represent honesty, hope, and love. Their names represent the opposite: the false Rhya, the despairing Vetto, and the hateful Fana."

Yami took his cigarette from his mouth. "Such intimidating names, but names don't determine strength."

"Is that so?" Rhya yawned. "Then let's show you, though it's troublesome."

Rhya produced a katana made of dark magic, mirroring Yami's stance. Dark magic's weakness is its slow speed, but this wasn't a problem for Rhya.

With a flash, Rhya used light magic to close the distance.

"Mimicry Magic: Dark Cloaked Avidya Blunt Strike!"

"You call yourself the false Rhya! Don't steal other people's magic, or I'll sue you for copyright infringement!"

Yami countered with the same Dark Cloaked Avidya Blunt Strike; the two black slashes collided and canceled each other out.

Asta was debating whether to help when Drake grabbed him and pulled him back.

"Beast Magic: Bear Claw!"

Asta heard a deafening boom; Vetto had obliterated the spot where they'd been standing.

Yami wouldn't leave Asta or the weakened Drake vulnerable to Vetto. Yami's attack smashed through the ground, but Vetto had already dodged.

Yami frowned; he sensed Vetto hadn't used magic power perception. He'd used ki sensing, just like Yami.

Beast Magic was Vetto's powerful magic. As the name suggests, it granted him beastly abilities. Beasts possess superior danger perception; Vetto innately possessed the ki-sensing ability.

But that wasn't Vetto's most terrifying aspect. Dodging Yami's attack, he savagely counterattacked.

Vetto's magic-infused hands clashed with Yami's blade, creating a grating sound. The man fought like a true beast, his fighting style and strength incredibly powerful.

"Beast Magic: Bear Claw!"

Vetto incorporated the essence of a beast's destructive power into his magic—a fitting representation of his name, Despair.

To Yami's surprise, Vetto's bear claw tore through the dark magic on his blade and shattered his katana.

"Come, little mice! Let me see your despair! It's the best seasoning when I eat you!"

Yami leaped back to Asta and Drake, looking at his broken sword. "Damn it, that sword was custom-made, super expensive! You're paying for that! Damn it, I haven't finished paying it off yet!"

Perhaps unwilling to listen to Yami's rambling, Fana attacked. The red creature on her shoulder sprayed flames at Yami.

Drake's eyes lit up; he shielded Yami.

The flames spread, obscuring the Eye of the Midnight Sun's view. Strangely, swallowing sounds came from the flames.

The flames diminished; the Eye of the Midnight Sun saw Drake swallowing them.

Yami took a drag of his cigarette. "Hey, can you do that? That's totally cheating!"

Drake's depleted magic power rapidly recovered. After consuming the last flame, Drake wiped his mouth. "Thanks for the meal! Power's surging!"

He looked at the red creature on Fana's shoulder. It was tilting its head, confused about the disappearance of its flames.

The creature had four legs and two wings, small but with scales.

"A Salamander!" Drake knew exactly what it was.

A Salamander, one of the four elemental elves, represented fire. It was also called a fire lizard or fire dragon; Natsu's title in Fairy Tail was Salamander. This Salamander looked like a young dragon.

"I want that one!" Drake thought. As the son of the Fire Dragon King, Salamander was perfect for him.
