Chapter 10
After leaving the office I didn't have much to do so I went to the garden that was connected to the infinity pool. I spent most of my time there wondering and loitering around with my now fleeting energy, there were guards everywhere.
I was starting to get suffocated by this place,no freedom,no peace, just people working all day long for some arrogant billionaires to be able to feed their families,well that wasn't the case for me but, it was like a system here, you have to do what ever your told or face the consequences.
I breathed heavily as I stared up at the tall walls that surrounded the mansion, the setting sun looked so beautiful or was it just the fact that my life felt so dull and dark that even the slightest of light seemed too far away for me to grasp .
I wanted to give up and just tell them to take my life already, what's the point of living if one will live their whole life surrounded by guilt , sadness, discomfort and a horrible past that won't stop haunting them.
I hated my life at this point, I had to suffer just because I knew somethings ,I had already lost my mother, my sister far away from me ,and a non-existing father.
I never knew who my father was,and the fact that he left us didn't really disturb me,I mean I never even knew the guy anyways,mom never had any pictures of him ,I didn't blame her,l couldn't, I was just a mistakes,never ment to happened.
That night I could sleep and after tossing and turning back and forth in bed I finally decided that I couldn't sleep even if I forced myself.
I sat up straight in bed and decided to go to the library,I slipped my shoes on and quietly got out of my room, I wasn't supposed to do this , I was allowed to, no one was, but I didn't care .
We had rules as maids , one was not supposed to be out of their rooms by 9 pm if not summoned, no one knows the consequences ,well except for those who disobeyed .
I walked down the silent corridor, that led to the library.
My foot steps slowed down as I neared the door, their was an orange light coming out from the spaces that were not occupied the the door or walls.
I stopped ,this was strange, who would be here at this time of night,I asked myself.
After a while I decided to go in , I slowly opened the door and stepped in .
I froze , my body refused to move , I was shocked, what was he doing here.
"Your not supposed to be here"his voice rang out , I just stared at him, not moving.
He was seated on the ground his back leaning on one of the library walls that was not occupied by book shelves , his legs stretched out Infront of him.
"I couldn't sleep"I managed to say my eyes not leaving him .
He wasn't looking at but I could still feel his power over me , I was nothing but a slave to him and I knew he could kill me if he wanted to.
"Take what you want and leave "he finally spoke I went to one of the shelves and took a book that I had started reading lately.
I held the book, pressing it against my chest and stared back at him, I couldn't help but notice that he looked tired and worn out and to be honest I didn't feel like going back to my room .
I slowly walked towards him and sat down next to him on the ground, with a grate distance that could fit three people between us .
"I Didn't say I need company"his words were supposed to show annoyance but he said them calmly.
"I didn't say I was keeping you company "I said back at him .
He turned his head to look at me ,I could see he was tired, the room wasn't fully lit up, their was only one wall lamp above our heads that excreted an elegant orange gold shade of light .
I folded my leg and opened my book on my lap ,as I started reading, from the corner of my eye I could see that he turned his head facing up again.
His breathing was uneven as if he was trying to calm his nerves down, I could hear his heavy breathing from where I was sitting.
"Thank you "I turned to face him in surprise , I couldn't believe my ears, but he didn't move , infact his eyes were closed now .
"For what ?"I asked curiously.
He stayed silent for a while "helping us earlier... and also the other day".
I stayed silent trying to get the right words to say ,I knew I didn't want to start an argument right now,so I had to choose my words carefully "it's alright"I finally managed to say turning back to my book.
"You need to get enough rest, you look tired and it's not healthy"the words came out of my mouth before I could stop them.
"I don't have an option"he removed a shaky breath .
I froze, than slowly I closed my book and turned my body to fully face him , "you doing have to do work that's tiring"I replied to him.
"The maids work until their tired, I don't see the problem with me doing the same "he paused flicking his eyes towards me and then he closed them again " and as I said I don't have an option".
"Your physically and mentally tired , that's not good "i said calmly.
"It doesn't matter "he said dismissively, but I knew I wasn't done yet.
I was actually worried,"if you continue neglecting your health like that your gonna end up being sick".
He finally removed his head from the tilted positive and looked at me,"you wouldn't understand "I could hear the pain in his voice, even if he tried to hide it.
"Wanna talk about it?"my voice softened a bit.
"And why would I do that with you?"he asked with a raised eye brow.
"Because I can't and won't tell anyone, considering the fact that I'm not even allowed to talk to anyone outside those gates" I implied.
He just stared at me for a while then looked down at his hands"my father left me his business to take over "he sounded hesitant.
"And what's wrong with that?"I asked curiously, he stared at me for a second.
"He left it in a tough position, we have a lot of enemies and that is also one of the reasons I can't let you free,I don't want to keep you here but I don't have a choice"he avoided my eyes and to my surprise he didn't raise his voice at me.
"I understand but you should give yourself time to rest and maybe sometimes do something you love to reduce your stress levels" I gave him a comforting look ,"And you should have told me ,you know , instead of doing all that you did, I get why you're concerned now but I have my own worries "I tried to be reasonable I wanted to know his part of the story ,and even if he did tell me everything he did tell me enough for now.
"I didn't think you'd understand "he answered simply .
We stayed silent for a while before I broke the silence first .
"I'm in a hurry to get out of here and you clearly don't trust me enough to let me go right now , so I'll stay here until you guys manage to catch Dion, but promise not to make things hard for me,deal ?"I stretch my hand out for him to shake , he stared at my hand for a second or two before he slowly shook it , I stared at our joint hands and a small smile appeared on my lips, his hand was warm and he wasn't being rough as I anticipated.
"Okay than , it's settled , but you tell me if you make any significant progress or if you need my help , I'll be happy to help you guys"I said pulling my hand away.
He simply just nodded in response, and if the lighting wasn't bad I could swear I saw him smile.
"Come on it's getting late, and you need to rest "I said standing up and dusted off my clothes I placed the book back and walked up to him again his eyes never left me.
"Come on"I stopped Infront of him and stretch out my hand for him, he hesitated for a while before he took it and stood up.
We turned off the lights and went our separate ways.
We weren't close or anything but I was willing to help so that I could get out of here as soon as possible.
