Jack opened his eyes once again. Only this time, a faint pain in the back of his head accompanied him. But he quickly forgot about the pain when his mind registered the smell of fresh flowers and the sweet humming of soothing music.
He groaned before looking around. The first thing that caught his attention was the massive bed. It was too soft for his comfort, unlike the broken mattress at Granny's place.
It would have been the perfect dream if not for the restraints binding him to the bed.
"What is… going on?"
The room screamed of luxury, but it was more like a golden cage. The only difference was that the prison warden was present with him in the cell.
"Consider them temporary protective measures."
Anna sat right across from him, her arms crossed as she stared at him. For a moment, Jack was taken aback by her expressionless face, but it changed when he woke up.
"You're awake," she smiled, walking towards him. "I was worried I hit you too hard."
