Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Occlumency Training

"Because I've recently been practicing the Super Sensory Spell, the casting of this kind of spell requires me to enter a state of absolute rational and calm, so I thought Occlumency should be able to help me."

Link blurted out. This was a reason he had already made up long ago. He dared to guarantee that even the most outstanding Legilimency master would not be able to hear the slightest flaw from it.

Because it was originally true, Occlumency indeed had a great assisting effect on the Super Sensory Spell. It's just that the learning difficulty of Occlumency was much higher than that of the Super Sensory Spell. In reality, no one would purposely practice Occlumency just to learn the Super Sensory Spell, that would be too stupid.

And Snape's reaction also did not exceed Link's expectations. He continued to stare at Link for a while, then finally said in a low voice, "In that case, I'll teach you. Anyway, Occlumency will also be good for your condition."

"My condition?"

Link said with confusion. This was the first time in the past month that he had heard Snape mention his condition, and it once again raised in him the desire to investigate his physical state.

What kind of illness would Occlumency be able to suppress?

However, Snape obviously didn't want to continue on this topic. He waved his hand and said, "To learn Occlumency, the first thing you need to master is emptying your mind, not thinking, not remembering, not feeling."

"Because as long as your brain is empty, then even if someone invades your mind, they won't be able to detect any information. This is the foundation of Occlumency. If you can't even manage this, it proves you don't have talent in this area. There's no point mentioning the deeper levels after that."

Snape spoke lightly, but Link's expression became a bit serious.

He knew very well how difficult it was to achieve the state Snape described. Because an ordinary person's brain is practically always thinking, always perceiving the outside world, even while sleeping, it's the same, just that he himself isn't aware of it.

Many people may think that emptying the brain is the same as zoning out, but the two are actually fundamentally different.

Because when you are zoning out, you are indeed not thinking and not remembering. But your senses are still present. You can feel the chair against your back. You can feel your body being warm. You can feel.

So, emptying the mind is actually a very difficult task. Normal people can only accidentally enter that state once or twice under very rare conditions.

And what's even more difficult is that this state is very easily interrupted. True Occlumency requires you to maintain that state in any environment.

This level of skill is no longer something normal people can achieve through hard practice. Only those with exceptional talent can correctly master Occlumency under guidance.

And this is also the main reason why Occlumens are so rare.

Looking at Link's serious expression, Snape nodded slightly, stood up, raised his wand and said, "Alright, then let's begin."

"Wait!"

Link's loud shout stopped Snape's next movement. He stepped back several steps, then said cautiously, "How are you going to train me? You're not planning to use Legilimency to keep entering my mind, right?"

This was the situation Link feared most, because he had too many secrets in his head. Even though Legilimency can only obtain thoughts at the moment of spell impact and can't steal past memories like the legendary Soul-Reading Curse, Link was still afraid something would be exposed.

After all, Snape had done it before. In the original story, the way he trained Harry Potter in Occlumency was by continuously casting Legilimency on him, while also throwing in a barrage of harsh insults, making Harry wish he were dead.

But what Link didn't expect was that, upon hearing this, Snape gave him a look as if he were an idiot and said, "That's illegal."

"So?" Link continued speaking.

The Ministry of Magic indeed prohibits the use of Legilimency on others without approval, especially on underage wizards.

But in Link's eyes, Snape wasn't someone who would follow the Ministry's laws. Otherwise, he wouldn't have taught Link such a dangerous spell like Sectumsempra.

"This just means I won't do it." Snape said irritably. Before Link could say anything else, he raised his wand again and turned a large empty glass jar in the corner into a soft recliner.

"Alright, quickly sit down and try to empty your mind. Don't whine here like a little girl!"

"You're just letting me practice like this?"

"Otherwise? I've already told you the method. If you can learn it, then you can. If you can't, it means you don't have the talent." Snape said matter-of-factly.

And upon hearing this, Link's expression became a little dazed. He was just worried a moment ago that Snape would train him too strictly, causing his identity as a transmigrator to be exposed.

But as it turns out, this training method wasn't strict at all, in fact, it was so simple it felt ridiculous.

'This world really is a bit strange.'

Grumbling to himself in his heart, Link eventually still lay down on the recliner and began to empty his mind.

Link had some experience in this. After all, when he had studied the Super Sensory Spell before, he had already done some meditation training.

It's just that, compared to meditation, the requirements for this kind of Occlumency training were clearly more demanding and strict.

So, it was very natural that Link made the mistake that most Occlumency beginners would make, he fell asleep.

When Link woke up again, the sky outside was already completely dark. Looking at the flickering candlelight around him, the groggy Link suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of loneliness.

And Snape himself was still dealing with that troublesome potion. Judging by the way he held the burner switch, always ready to turn off the fire, the potion process should be nearing its end.

This gave Link a not-so-good guess.

'This guy... Could it be that he tricked me into training like this just so I wouldn't disturb his potion making?'

Once this thought appeared, the more Link thought about it, the more it made sense. Otherwise, with Snape's personality, how could he be so kind as to conjure a recliner for him?

Thinking this way, Link's gaze toward Snape also became less friendly.

At this moment, Snape finally turned off the burner flame and poured the potion from the crucible into two cups. He let out a long breath of turbid air. Glancing at the now-awake Link, he waved his hand tiredly and said, "Drink the potion and leave quickly. I want to rest."
