Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Refining the Great Restoration Pill, The Furnace, and Dugu Bo’s Deep Gratitude

In the Sunset Forest, outside the Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well

At this moment, Dugu Bo, Dugu Yan, Ye Renxin, Ye Lingling, and Zhu Fan were all waiting at the exit.

Aside from the occasional whispered conversations between Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling, the other three remained silent, each lost in their own thoughts.

Step, step, step~

The sound of footsteps crunching on fallen leaves approached.

Soon, Dai Chengfeng emerged from the medicinal garden.

"Chengfeng, you're finally out."

"The energy inside was so chaotic—staying there for so long, are you alright?"

Seeing Dai Chengfeng, Zhu Fan quickly stepped forward to ask.

"Uncle, don't worry—it was only a few hours. I'm fine."

"That's good…"

At this point, noticing the anxious and expectant look in Dugu Yan's eyes, Dugu Bo hurriedly stepped forward.

"Prince Chengfeng, have you gathered all the herbs needed for the antidote?"

Dai Chengfeng nodded. "Mission accomplished—I've gathered everything."

"I did take quite a few herbs, though, since there's a chance the refining process might fail. I hope Elder Dugu Bo won't mind."

Although Dugu Bo had no idea about the rarity or effects of these immortal herbs, and wouldn't feel any pain regardless of how many were taken, Dai Chengfeng still decided to mention it beforehand.

Sure enough—

Dugu Bo waved his hand dismissively. "No problem!"

"Prince Chengfeng has already agreed to cure Yan'er and me of our poison—I'm deeply grateful. How could I possibly quibble over a few herbs?"

"Any herbs that Prince Chengfeng deems useful, please take freely."

Dai Chengfeng smiled and gave a slight bow to Dugu Bo. "Then I thank you in advance, Elder Dugu Bo."

He then continued, "To cure the poison, we'll first need to refine the antidote into pills."

"Does Elder Dugu Bo happen to have a pill furnace in this medicinal garden?"

"Yes, yes…"

Dugu Bo quickly led Dai Chengfeng toward a solitary wooden cabin not far away.

As they walked, he explained, "Your Highness, that wooden cabin ahead is where I usually rest and concoct poisons."

"There's a pill furnace inside—I hope it meets with Your Highness's approval."

"Elder, there's no need to worry. As long as it's a furnace, it will do. The pill I'm refining doesn't have strict external requirements—the key lies in the herbs."

Hearing this, Dugu Bo quietly let out a sigh of relief.

Soon, the group of six arrived near the wooden cabin.

The cabin looked weathered, its wooden boards bearing the marks of time.

It wasn't very large, so the others stayed in the clearing while only Dai Chengfeng and Dugu Bo entered the cabin.

Dugu Bo raised his hand, gently pushing open the slightly worn wooden door. Then, stepping aside, he made a respectful gesture, inviting Dai Chengfeng in.

Seeing this, Dai Chengfeng stepped inside.

The interior was extremely simple—a bed, a wooden table, a few chairs, and a wooden shelf, with no excessive decorations.

The most striking feature was the ancient pill furnace standing silently in the center of the room.

The surface of the furnace was engraved with mysterious runes that seemed alive, flowing slowly across its surface and emitting a faint yet mystical aura, as if whispering of its extraordinary nature.

On the shelves against the opposite wall were various bottles and jars, made of glass, containing colorful poisons and herbs. In the dim light filtering through the windows, they refracted brilliant hues.

Dai Chengfeng's eyes lit up with satisfaction.

Nodding slightly, he turned to Dugu Bo and said, "Elder, refining the antidote will take several hours, during which I cannot be disturbed. Please keep watch for me."

"Also, tell my uncle to set up camp here—we'll depart tomorrow."

"Rest assured, leave it to me. Not even a fly will get in!"

With that, Dugu Bo exited the cabin and closed the door behind him.

Dai Chengfeng once again turned his gaze to the pill furnace inside the room.

Though Dugu Bo had spoken humbly, he was, after all, a Title Douluo of great prestige.

Thus, what he referred to as a "simple place" was, for ordinary people, nothing short of luxurious.

For instance, the fire used here cleverly tapped into an underground flame vein, providing a steady stream of intense heat—an excellent condition for refining pills.

Under such conditions, refining the Great Restoration Pills would be more than sufficient!

Whew!

Soon, Dai Chengfeng took a deep breath. "The Great Restoration Pills—capable of cleansing one's meridians, washing away impurities, and completely transforming the body!"

In his mind, memories from his past life quickly surfaced, detailing every step required to refine the Great Restoration Pills.

After about half an incense stick's time, he had organized all the details.

Only then, with a solemn expression, did Dai Chengfeng begin to move his hands methodically, carefully placing the herbs into the furnace in precise proportions and order.

Throughout this process, he focused entirely, his eyes glued to the herbs in his hands. Every movement was precise, without the slightest error.

After all, other herbs were manageable…

But the Youlan Grass, which required symbiosis with giant trees, didn't exist in the Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well.

Thus, Dai Chengfeng still only had the single Youlan Grass he had obtained from the core region of the Star Soul Forest—he couldn't afford to be careless.

As time passed,

Due to the intense concentration, fine beads of sweat began to form on Dai Chengfeng's forehead, trickling down his cheeks. Yet, he remained oblivious, fully immersed in the pill-refining process, his mind free of distractions.

Two full hours passed.

When Dai Chengfeng finally placed the last herb securely into the furnace, his taut nerves finally relaxed slightly, and a flicker of excitement appeared on his lips.

"No wonder this formula, refined and improved by science from my past life, has significantly reduced the difficulty of refinement."

"Now, all that remains is to control the heat and wait for the medicinal properties to fuse…"

He muttered softly, his tone carrying a sense of relief.

After all, the most dangerous step—the precise measurement and combination of herbs—had been completed. As long as he wasn't disturbed, failure was impossible.

Thinking this, Dai Chengfeng closed his eyes slightly, immersing his mind in the roaring flames provided by the underground fire vein beneath the furnace.

His spiritual power acted like threads, carefully enveloping the flames as he began to make micro-adjustments to the heat.

Under his control, the temperature of the flames fluctuated subtly, each rise and fall perfectly synchronized with the rhythm of the herbs fusing inside the furnace.

Time passed quietly, another hour slipping by.

The glow of the runes on the surface of the furnace grew even brighter, their flowing patterns seeming to dance joyfully, as if celebrating the imminent completion of the transformation.

Until—a rich, almost tangible medicinal fragrance began to waft out from the cracks of the furnace.

This fragrance was thick and enduring, carrying an intoxicating power that instantly filled the entire cabin and even seeped through the tightly shut doors and windows, spreading outside.

Meanwhile, Dugu Bo, who had been vigilantly guarding the cabin, suddenly twitched his nostrils. His eyes widened in shock, his face filled with astonishment.

"This… is this the scent of a pill?"

"How can the medicinal fragrance be so strong, even penetrating the walls? What kind of precious pill is this?"

He muttered under his breath, his eyes once again flashing with deep gratitude for Dai Chengfeng inside the cabin. "Prince Chengfeng…"

At this moment.

Inside the cabin, Dai Chengfeng also gazed in amazement at the slowly opening furnace and the twelve translucent pills inside, glowing softly like the finest gemstones.

"How could this be?"
