Chapter 25 - A Good Sword

"Blame yourself for jumping on me…" pinning the canine monster down and placing the edge of his sword on its neck, Azrael mutters to himself while taking one last look at the monster now about to become experience and most likely, a small reward for him, the edge of the sword plunging deeper into the creature's neck despite its still vigorous struggle.

Looking at it without a single remorse in his gaze, the young man then raises the sword away from its neck, giving the creature a brief period of relief before despair engulfs its entire being once again, seeing a swift, clean white arc created by the sword going down on its neck with an extreme speed that it fails to follow with its naked eyes.

Blood flows like small stream as the canine monster's head got separated from its body, the blood flowing from the cut possibly more than enough to completely cover an entire adult in it, and said crimson blood is now spreading like a puddle underneath the still warm corpse, its strong, iron-like stench seemingly inviting a lot of other predator's as well, seeing that there are a lot of roaring and growling from the distance, all appearing to be approaching the place where the now deceased canine monster and the young man fought.

[Detected the death of a special monster in the second floor: Evil Star Wolf.]

[Confirmed the existence of this special monster as a bane to the tower; hence, rewards will be issued. Rewards will be distributed based on the ascender's contribution to the subjugation of the monster. Now calculating the contribution the ascender made in defeating the Evil Star Wolf…]

[Subjugation of the Special Monster: Evil Star Wolf]

[Contribution]

[1: Azrael Weiss (2nd Floor Ascender): 100%]

[Since the ascender is the sole person to defeat the monster, all the rewards will be issued to the ascender, and an additional reward will be given as well.]

[Rewards for the Special Monster Subjugation Quest]

[Active Skill: Murderous Aura]

[Equipment: Evil Fang Sword]

[The Special Monster: Evil Star Wolf was defeated by the ascender alone]

[The will of the ascender influences the tower more]

Looking at the wave of notification that just arrived from the guide, Azrael couldn't help but smile thinking that his luck appears to be starting to turn for the better now, just arriving at the second floor of the tower and yet already encountering a lucky opportunity like this, an opportunity that allows him to save quite a lot of money for buying a new sword.

With his eyes glowing with excitement from being able to avoid spending a ton of money once more, Azrael immediately clicks on one of the notifications that the guide sent the moment he defeated this Evil Star Wolf, particularly the notification that tells him he acquires a piece of equipment from the canine monster.

[Equipment: Evil Fang Sword (A-Grade Weapon, Upgradeable)]

[A Sword that is forged with the bone of the Evil Star Wolf rather than the fang that is described in its name. Its fang is used rather to sharpen this bone to a degree that it can cut through cold iron with extreme ease. This sword has an inherently evil aura to it, causing any inexperienced ascender to feel quite uncomfortable just by being around it.]

[Usage Requirement: Blood-bound individual]

[Effects: +20% strength, +20% agility, +10% stamina, +10% dexterity, +1% lunacy]

[Note: This is a growth-type weapon that can accompany the ascender using it for a long time. It is recommended for the owner of this weapon to feed the weapon with materials that will allow it to grow to further heights and reach its full potential.]

Reading the description of the weapon, the young man couldn't help but wonder whether this is really something that should be dropped by an opponent like this Evil Star Wolf, after all, this seems to be way too good for a weapon that dropped on the second floor, making him wonder whether there is a condition or drawback for using such weapon.

"But this really suits me extremely well, not only does it give a massive boost on my basic stats but there's even a boost on Lunacy…" after being in the tower for more than a decade now, Azrael is well versed on the weapons that can be acquired within the span of the tower, having spent some significant portion of his time reading information about them, but never in his entire knowledge does a weapon that can boost his lunacy stats appears in any record of papers he read, nor there was hearsays of this kind of weapon anywhere in the first, and even in the second floor.

"Fuck it, I'll deal with the problem when I encounter one" feeling like hesitating now won't do him any good, Azrael immediately clicked on the notification, the guide glowing pure white and drowning the surroundings before it returns to the usual, with the only difference now being the fact that there is a jet-black sword on the young man's grasp, the sword seemingly releasing a massive amount of malice and murderous intent, more than enough to scare the previously approaching monsters from the distance.

The sword was anything but standard, having a handle almost one and a half times larger than usual, most likely hindering any person from wielding it properly, had it not been for the fact that the young man himself finds this extended handle a convenient feature that allows him to change the range and reach of the weapon.

Not only that, but the jet-black, single-blade sword extends almost a meter in length, making it look more of a dao rather than a bastard sword, the pure, untainted black seemingly absorbing any light that comes in contact with it, making the appearance of the blade all the more peculiar and mystical.

Feeling the impressive fit of the grip on his hand, Azrael felt like this was the weapon that would accompany him for a lifetime, making him smile as he swung it around for a few times before nodding in satisfaction as he spoke.

"One day, I will be powerful enough to change your name from a plain Evil Fang Sword to something more majestic."

And with his words, the sword trembled as if it were expressing its joy for him being willing to change the name the tower bestowed it with.
