Chapter 82 - Medusa

The three witches huddled together and whispered among themselves, debating whether to tell Perseus how to kill Medusa.

Under Perseus' urging, the witches finally revealed the secret to him.

"Malicious mortal, we don't know why you want to know the weakness of the Gorgons. If you think you can gain glory by defeating them, you're sorely mistaken!"

The witches' threats didn't deter Perseus. He pretended to throw the eye into the sea. This panicked the three witches immediately. They immediately turned their backs on the Gorgon sisters and told Perseus what the snake - haired monsters desired.

"The daughters of the Oceanus goddesses possess gowns made of golden fleece. The material of these gowns is extremely precious, only found in the eastern mountains and the Invisible Island in the sea. The Gorgon sisters long for the beautiful golden fleece and will surely be willing to pay any price for it!"

After speaking, the witches begged Perseus to return the eye. Their words were sincere, and tears flowed from their empty eye sockets.

Just as the young man was about to return the eye, a murmur carried by the sea breeze reached his ears.

"Perseus, don't pity or feel sorry for these witches. If they get their eyes back, they'll immediately inform the Gorgon sisters."

Perseus cautiously retreated towards the direction of the sea. The moment he mounted Pegasus, he threw the eye out.

The waves, like a giant hand, gently caught the eye and hid it in an unknown part of the seabed.

The mist that came with the sea breeze trapped the angry witches. They hurled filthy curses at the faithless Perseus.

Pegasus snorted. It leaped off the black - stone - covered beach and flew towards an unknown distance.

Perseus wanted to call out to Pegasus to take him back to Athena's temple. As soon as he opened his mouth, his voice turned into broken syllables that couldn't form complete sentences in the howling sea breeze.

Perseus had no choice but to close his eyes and bury his face in Pegasus' mane, letting the horse take its own course.

Pegasus flew through the cool mist and arrived at a peaceful island. Hanging on this island were two huge rainbow bridges. The snow at the top of the island penetrated the clouds. There was eternal light here, and there would never be darkness. Perseus vaguely heard a faint song coming from the island.

Tall maidens with wings flew towards Pegasus. These non - human beings didn't attack Perseus on horseback; they just gathered around out of curiosity.

The new - generation Sirens had never seen a man before. Although their birth involved men, the poor sailors were abducted by their mothers. After these beautiful Sirens confirmed their pregnancy, they would send the abducted men back to the passing ships.

On the reef by the coast, the mermaids with fish tails leaped into the sea. The winged Pegasus seemed to be very familiar with them. Led by the mermaids, they arrived at a white sandy beach.

The tree nymphs were already waiting here. They had come to welcome the hero at the behest of the chief gods.

After passing through the outer cedar forest and orchard, Perseus saw three goddesses in a sea of flowers.

The leading goddess wore a lily crown and a white, intricately - made gauze dress. She didn't wear many ornaments, only a gemstone necklace on her neck that shone brilliantly.

The two subordinate goddesses wore iris crowns, and the light wings on their backs sparkled with magnificent brilliance.

"Thank you for your audience, Goddess who Embraces the World."

Perseus recognized that the deity in front of him was the ocean - life goddess worshipped by his adoptive father. He respectfully knelt on one knee and expressed his gratitude to the goddess.

"Perseus, the child of Danaë. I had Pegasus bring you here to give you three things."

Looking at the young man who bore a slight resemblance to Zeus in his features, Tyche's tone softened.

"Medusa isn't an evil monster. Sleeping beneath her terrifying snakes is a gentle and kind goddess. Rescue the good side of Medusa, and you'll be favored by fortune."

After speaking, Tyche took a dew - covered lily from the crown on her head and handed it to Perseus. This pure flower was grown in the waters of the Spring of Wisdom and couldn't be obtained without its owner's permission.

"After you cut off Medusa's head, place this flower on her wound, and it will awaken the sleeping goddess."

The Rainbow Goddesses wearing iris crowns handed Perseus the golden - fleece garment and the sharp sword forged in the fury of Typhon.

"Go, young Perseus. My will will be with you on your journey. Your heroic deeds will earn you praise and glory comparable to that of the gods."

The tree nymphs brought meat and wine for this human who was setting foot on the Invisible Island for the first time. Pegasus, in the midst of the maidservants' laughter, chewed on the sweet fruits heartily.

With everything ready, Perseus set off on the journey to save Medusa.

The flying horse born from the ocean current had a speed no less than the wind. In just one night, before the Dawn Goddess scattered the morning glow, Perseus arrived at the small island where the Gorgon sisters lived.

There was little greenery on this desolate island. Surrounded by reefs and whirlpools, unless helped by the flying horse, no matter how strong the ship or brave the warrior, they couldn't approach the Gorgon sisters.

Perseus deliberately shouted loudly, "What a dazzling beauty! Such gorgeous clothes can only belong to a goddess, right?"

Soon, the sound of metal scraping came from the island. The winged Stheno and Euryale with boar - like tusks walked out of the cave. Waking up from their sleep, the two sisters initially wanted to kill this insolent human. However, they were attracted by the golden - colored gowns that seemed to be flowing with golden light in the morning sun.

Overjoyed, the two sisters immediately scolded, "Noisy mortal, quickly return our gowns."

Perseus pretended to be scared, threw down the gowns, and fled. The two sisters didn't chase him immediately. They started arguing over the ownership of the golden fleece and didn't think about how this mortal had crossed the whirlpools and reefs to reach the island.

While the two sisters were arguing, Perseus circled back to the cave where they lived and searched for Medusa.

The bottom of the cave wasn't dark. The huge pearls inlaid in the cave walls illuminated it as bright as daylight.

The snake - haired Medusa was sleeping deeply in the cave. The snakes on her head also closed their eyes as their owner rested.

Suddenly, a cool lily fragrance made the sleeping Medusa curiously open her eyes. The next moment, a shiny shield appeared in front of the snake - haired monster. Medusa saw her own reflection in the first glance. The curse of her eyes was reflected back on her owner. Before she could let out a cry, Medusa was turned into a stone statue by her own magic.

According to Tyche's instructions, Perseus swung his sword and cut off the monster's head. Black blood gushed from the crack in Medusa's neck. The blood fell to the ground and turned into colorful venomous snakes that scattered in all directions.

Perseus placed the goddess's holy flower on the terrible wound. A light blue light, like waves, extended outwards. The already - petrified Medusa miraculously grew a new head under this light. The petrified body, like the pupa left after an insect sheds its shell, shattered piece by piece. A beautiful goddess emerged from the broken shell and appeared in front of Perseus.

The reborn Medusa, now in the guise of a goddess, sincerely thanked Perseus. "Brave demigod, I am the goddess representing oceanic fertility. The fish schools abound because of my presence, and my power makes the life in the sea prolific."

"Please accept my reward. As long as you and your descendants call upon me in the sea, I will surely bring you an abundant catch," she promised. With that, Medusa's figure vanished in a blaze of glory.

At this time, on the sky, Tyche blocked the onslaught of the conceptual gods. Oceanus, the embodiment of the ocean's anger, and Ceto, the symbol of the ocean's danger, were filled with unwillingness on their faces. However, under Tyche's overwhelming pressure, they stepped back step by step until their father, Pontus, the primordial sea god, stepped forward to stand in front of Tyche.

Seeing Medusa break free from the curse and regain her freedom, Pontus sighed deeply in his heart. Then, with a forced bravado, he said, "Your Highness Tyche, Medusa is my descendant. You have no reason to interfere in this matter."

"Pontus, I am the god of ocean currents, the master of springs and streams. The creatures in the water revere me as the goddess of life. The origin of the ocean is close to me and has endowed me with the power to govern all waters. Along with these powers, I also have the obligation to protect them!" Tyche ruthlessly tore off Pontus' fig - leaf.

"As the goddess of fertility in the sea and the protector of fish, Medusa should rightly become my attendant!" she continued. "You coveted her power, snatched this productive force from its original owner, and handed it over to Echidna to breed monsters. This is not something a parent would do."

Echidna, who mated with Typhon and gave birth to countless monsters, and Medusa were both daughters of Oceanus and Ceto. However, these parents did not fulfill their due responsibilities. Echidna's rebellious actions were likely with Pontus' tacit consent. The rumors that the mother of monsters was at odds with her parents were just excuses for a graceful retreat in case of failure.

Tyche, who held the divinities of history and secrets, was not fooled by all this. After sorting out these connections, she calmly waited until Zeus was promoted to a primordial god before taking action against one of the masterminds, Pontus.

At this moment, Medusa also came to the side of the confronting sea gods. She looked disappointedly at her expressionless parents and grandfather and then stood behind Tyche. "Well, since Medusa has made her choice, you can leave now," Tyche said, looking at Pontus. Her eyes gradually became dangerous.

Eros had been closely monitoring Pontus. If Tyche attacked Pontus without a proper excuse, Eros would surely intervene. However, if Pontus made the first move, Tyche would have a legitimate reason to mete out punishment. The consequences of offending a primordial god were extremely severe.

The anger of Phorcys, the father of sea monsters, was burning fiercely. This sea god representing danger broke through the obstruction of Nereus, the god of the sea - friendly, and pounced towards Tyche. Tyche remained calm. The Shield of the Nymph appeared in her hand, and she struck at the charging Phorcys with a heavy blow!

The power of the Crystal Wall, combined with the weight of a small world, made Phorcys, the father of sea monsters, hover in mid - air like a bug hitting a wall. It was quite comical.

This was exactly what Tyche wanted. She waved her hand and sent out causal lines that pierced into Phorcys' body. Golden divine blood flowed down along the invisible threads, causing this seemingly weak weapon to reveal its true form.

Phorcys' screams of agony stimulated Ceto. The goddess of the ocean's danger writhed with her snake - shaped lower body and rushed towards Tyche. Her trident slashed at the threads stained with divine blood, trying to rescue her bound husband.

These causal lines were both visible and invisible. Ceto's weapon swung in vain and then went straight towards Tyche. Tyche's other hand held the Eternal Spear, which was suffused with golden light. She casually swung it, and Ceto's trident happened to hit the blade of the Eternal Spear. Predictably, the trident was shattered into pieces. The flying fragments carried Ceto and sent her flying backwards. The great force smashed Ceto into the seabed.

Tyche's face was cold and stern. The Eternal Spear in her hand made a beautiful arc and stopped. "Pontus, you should fight yourself. Battling with them would only bring shame to me," she said.

Pontus first retrieved his limp daughter, Ceto, from the seabed. Then he said with a wry smile, "Your Highness Tyche, you are already a primordial god that we can only look up to. Your dignity is unshakable. With your power, why bother with my children?"

This statement had a hint of suggesting that Tyche was bullying the weak and lacked the magnanimity of a primordial god. Tyche, who had known that Pontus was not an easy opponent, naturally had a retort.

"Oh, then I'll let you choose. I'll choose between Krenos and Zeus. Even if the two of them are tied together, it won't be impossible for them to face my sons," Tyche replied.

The winds and clouds responded to the mother's call, making the once - clear sea area around them turn gloomy. Tyche's sons came to the sky and stood face - to - face with Eros, who had come after hearing the news.

Three primordial gods and two gods with power beyond that of a powerful god gathered on this barren little island. The tense atmosphere was so palpable that even the gods on Mount Olympus were getting nervous. And the clamor of the sea monsters was like waving fireworks near a fuse, which could trigger an unprecedented conflict between the two sides at any time.

Tyche indifferently swept her gaze over those sea monsters. The Eternal Spear in her hand moved slightly, and an invisible force erased their existence without even leaving any ashes.

Athena, leading the gods of the Oceanus family, emerged from the waves. The sovereignty of the ocean was about to come to a complete end today.

Tyche, who possessed the divinities of the sky and the earth, was a more powerful cornerstone of the world than her predecessor, Gaia. The Crystal - Wall System outside the sky and the Underworld beneath the earth were all under Tyche's control. Only the ocean, and Pontus, the primordial sea god, was like a bone stuck in her throat, causing discomfort. Now it was time to get rid of this bone.

Phorcys, who was firmly bound by the causal lines, let out a piercing scream. The splendid divine blood spurted out of the wound like a fountain. These invisible threads slowly cut through the body of the father of sea monsters under Tyche's will. The clear and enduring pain was almost enough to shatter Phorcys' will!

"Don't think that I will spare your offense just because you possess the power of the laws. There are many ways to make you live a more painful life than death!" Tyche said coldly.

Under Tyche's icy gaze, the conceptual sea gods shrank back, not daring to look directly into the goddess's eyes.

Pontus' face changed several times. Being forced to such an extent, he had no choice but to start the war. If he backed down at this time, the conceptual sea gods would probably never follow his orders again from then on!
