Then down below, hidden behind bushes and trees, someone who wore the same get up as the flying man but only the area of their right ear was cut on the mask, which revealed not flesh, but only threads that stuck out where the ear and the surrounding skin should be.
"What's the detail on the boy now?" Another person who wore the same uniform asked while they squatted down.
"Kacis said he's found him!" The person with thread sticking out of their right ear side said with their voice sounding like a young girl.
"Where is he then?" The person that squatted down slowly stood up, this time the voice sounded like that of a girl as well while another fourth person quietly leaned on a tree and watched them.
"Hold on, Blutsachel" The girl whose ear is up above tugged on the thread which slightly pulled down her right ear who's with Kacis above.
The ear slowly moved downwards from his hand, Kacis looked and flew towards them with the wind that moved against his body. He came closer to them, but his feet never once touched the ground.
"The carriage he's in is straying a little bit off course, I'm thinking they're taking a short cut." Kacis said as he removed his mask, revealing a light chiseled face with clear skin and short but wavy brown hair.
"What? Why aren't they going on the main course?! They should be following the map right?" Blutsatchel asked, her voice sounding strained but full of vigor.
"I don't know, that's why I said it's probably a short cut because I didn't see them being pursued or hijacked." Kacis said while fanning himself with his mask.
"So that means our traps…" The girl with her ear connected to a thread spoke with her voice sounding down.
"It is a shortcut, you know how nobles and short patience are like five and six." The fourth person stopped leaning and moved forward towards them.
"Leader…!" The three of them all bowed and shouted while Kacis slowly drifted off into the air but held himself firm, his feet still not touching the ground.
The ear in Kacis hand dropped to the ground, it was then dragged back to the girl, but she wasn't holding the thread.
Gotta learn how to do this quicker Acis!
She thought in her head while the ear slowly moved back to her.
The thread moving like a snake and gathering itself back on Acis's right ear area as it clustered itself back to form her skin and her ear was back in place.
"We need to move now, our traps we've set may be useless now but this is another opportunity." The leader said in a stern voice as he motioned his hands.
"Which direction were they headed?" He faced Kacis, his fierce stare could be felt beyond his mask.
"They were on the main path, but just went to the right." Kacis answered, his head still bowed.
The leader walked closer, his gaze right on Kacis bent head with his hand slowly being raised. He placed it on his head and slightly rubbed his hair.
"How many times have I said that you should stop bowing to me?" The leader's voice became more chilled like the breeze before a storm.
"The same goes for all of you." He then pointed at both Blutsatchel and Acis.
"I wonder why you all give such authority to me." He huffed as he bent his head while he nodded it. Kacis, Blutsatchel and Acis all raised their heads to look at the leader.
"I'm a nobody." The leader chuckled, removing his mask to reveal a soft, feminine face. Long, wavy black hair framed the deep smudges beneath his lower lids, a tiny scar visible on his upper lip as he smiled.
"Yes sir!..." Kacis shouted but quickly reclined his tone.
"I mean…Yes Marichi!" He shouted again.
Marichi just looked at them and gave a faint chuckle before he put on his mask again and his tone immediately shifted back to being cold.
"Let's not waste anymore time, let's go!" Marichi said while he faced his back towards them and looked above.
The three of them just nodded their heads with Acis who then looked at Kacis and waved her hands for hik to fly. Kacis put his mask back on as well and then nodded his head back at Acis.
"Finally let's go, the nobles need to learn!" Blutsatchel said while she cracked her knuckles, with tiny frail red glass shards that fell from her hands.
"Yes and they will, just be calm, they aren't beasts." Marichi replied as he looked over his shoulder at Blutsatchel.
Kacis moved closer to Acis. She rolled up her sleeves and stretched her hands forward. With a sickening fluidity, her elbow joint transformed into a tangle of threads, detaching her forearm and hand.
The severed limb didn't fall, but swayed, held by the intricate network of threads that were once her joint. Acis fixed her gaze on Kacis, who took her dangling hand, and then the threads which originated from her elbow, instantly snaked up her upper arm, rapidly consuming it.
Kacis then ascended as he tied her hand around his waist, Acis hand then gripped tight unto him.
"Quick everyone around Acis." Marichi said while he went towards her with Blutsatchel right behind him. Acis then tied her other hand around them with her hand holding tight.
"You can go now, Kacis!" Acis shouted, slightly movingvher shoulder which tugged the threads around Kacis while he was lost in thought.
Huh…sometimes I never get comfortable to the feeling of air always beneath my feet.
But yet, it doesn't feel awful…I don't know how to describe it.
Kacis floated in the air while he slowly drifted with his aloof looking face.
"What the…Kacis!" Acis grunted as her shoulder went more downwards.
Argh! This pain!
Acis gave a sharp breath for a split second while she was tugging her arm.
Kacis still floated above then feeling the slight movement around his waist.
"Wait…Wha…" He was knocked out of his daydream while he arranged himself and looked at his waist.
"Shit!" He then flew in the direction that Jorel's carriage went while Acis strained her voice below.
"And now we're airborne." Acis chuckled as they were in the air while the threads straightened and gave off a slight hum sound.
"I will never get used to this." Blutsatchel huffed as her feet kicked the air.
"Hope they haven't gone too far, can't even track them now that they're off course." She scoffed.
"We don't need to, we're airborne now." Marichi answered.
"There's nowhere that they can hide from us." He gently clenched his fist as his rubber gloves let out a squeezing sound.
