[Skill: Kissing acquired]

I even got a skill for this, but I didn't pay it much attention because I was determined to grind this skill with Alex. No skill book could teach me what I was learning right now.

Alex was on top of me, her hair falling around my face, her lips finding mine with a hunger that surprised us both. The kiss started soft but quickly deepened, her hands threading through my hair, pulling me closer. I could feel her breath quicken, matching the pounding of my heart.

Her hands slid down, hesitating for just a second before slipping under the hem of my shirt. Her fingers traced along my stomach, then up my chest, exploring the lines of muscle she hadn't expected to find. She broke the kiss for a moment, her eyes wide, cheeks flushed, and let out a shaky, amazed breath.

"Lucas… you're… wow," she whispered, her voice barely more than a gasp. Her hands roamed a little more boldly, fingertips mapping out every hard contour. "I didn't expect you were hiding this body under those clothes."

I grinned, feeling her touch send sparks across my skin. "I don't like to show off, but I could say the same for you," I teased, my voice low.

She blushed, laughing softly, and then kissed me again, slower this time, savoring the moment. "You're such a dork," she whispered against my lips, but her hands never stopped exploring.

I let my own hands wander, sliding up her back, feeling the warmth of her skin through her shirt. My fingers found the edge and slipped underneath, caressing the soft skin there. She shivered, pressing closer, her breath hitching as my hands moved up, gently cupping her breasts through her bra. I felt her breath catch, her body arching into my touch. I was careful, slow, letting her set the pace, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she pressed herself more firmly against me, her lips finding mine again and again.

She broke away for a second, her face flushed, eyes bright and wild. "Haa… haa…"

We kissed until we were out of breath, then started again, laughing softly into each other's mouths. Her hands never stopped moving, exploring my chest, my stomach, as if she was memorizing every inch. I could feel her heart racing, her breaths coming in little gasps between kisses.

"God, you feel amazing," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion and a little disbelief.

I smiled, my own breath shaky. "So do you. You're… perfect."

I kissed her neck, trailing slow kisses up to her jaw, then her beautiful cheeks. I cupped her face, making her lips pout, and she looked at me with that same hunger I felt. No words were needed. I started kissing her lips again, biting gently, taking the lead. She melted into me, her hands gripping my shoulders.

We lost ourselves in each other for a while, hands and mouths exploring, learning, savoring. The world outside faded away until it was just us, tangled together on her bed, wrapped up in a moment that felt both electric and impossibly tender.

Alex's hand slid lower, rubbing me through my pants. I felt a jolt of electricity shoot through me. She looked up, her face red but determined, and I realized she wasn't stopping. I hesitated for a second, but she didn't pull away, so I got bolder, sliding my hand under her pants. My fingers found her panties, and I felt the heat, the dampness. She moaned softly as I touched her, her hips arching up to meet my hand.

We were still kissing, but now she was under me and I was on top. I started caressing her gently, and she wrapped her arms around me, kissing and sucking on my neck.

"Lucas…" she whispered, breathless, her voice trembling with anticipation.

Then.

fuck, why now?!

"Alex, come down, honey!" Claire's voice rang out from downstairs. Of course. I think she came back home to check on us. Maybe Luke told her, maybe it was just bad luck. Either way, the universe had terrible timing.

We both jumped apart, scrambling to fix our clothes, hearts still racing. Alex was flustered, her cheeks burning, and I was in a daze, still half in another world.

"I can't believe that just happened," she whispered, trying to smooth her hair.

I grinned, unable to help myself. "I can't either. But… I don't regret a second."

She smiled shyly, then leaned in and gave me a quick kiss, her lips soft and lingering. "Me neither. Now let's go before my mom storms up here."

She led the way downstairs, and I followed, trying to look as innocent as possible. In the living room, Claire and Phil were sitting together, mid-argument about something trivial. Classic Modern Family chaos.

Claire spotted us and immediately narrowed her eyes, giving me the "mom glare." She definitely noticed something was up.

"Lucas, what are you doing here?" she asked, her tone sharp.

Before I could answer, Alex jumped in. "We were doing our biology project, Mom."

I gave them my best polite smile. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Dunphy."

Phil grinned, waving. "Hey there, kiddo! Good to see you."

Claire was still watching me like a hawk, but didn't say anything else-for now.

Alex huffed, clearly annoyed. "Why did you guys disturb us? We were actually studying."

Claire sighed, softening just a little. "Alright, honey. We just wanted to meet your friend."

I chatted with Phil and Claire for a bit, trying to keep things light. Claire eventually ordered us to move our stuff into the living room since Luke and his friends were in the basement. Alex complained, but I just shrugged.

"It's fine," I said quietly to her. "I'm not going to try anything with your parents in the house. Next time, maybe."

She blushed, biting her lip, and nodded.

We set up in the living room and got back to work on the project. I could feel Claire's gaze burning a hole in the back of my head as she hovered in the kitchen, watching us like a hawk.

A few minutes later, Claire swept in with a tray loaded with snacks: sliced apples, crackers, cheese, and a couple of sodas. She set them down right in front of us, her eyes never really leaving me.

"Here you go, kids," she said, her tone a little too cheerful. "Brain food. You'll need it for all that studying you're doing."

"Thank you, Mrs. Dunphy," I said, giving her my best polite smile. She didn't smile back. Instead, she sat down on the armchair across from us, folding her arms.

"So, Lucas," she started, "How are you in school? What are your grades like?" Her eyes narrowed slightly, as if she wanted to know if I was good enough for her daughter. Claire had already noticed the looks Alex gives to Lucas. She knows that look. That is the look of a maiden smitten by a young man.

I swallowed a bite of apple and shrugged. "Pretty good, actually. I've got all A's right now. I'm taking the SATs in a few months, so I'm trying to keep my GPA up."

Claire raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised. "SATs already? That's impressive. I thought you were one of those cool, popular kids who didn't take school too seriously."

Alex snorted, nearly choking on her soda. "Mom, Lucas is smart."

I grinned, glancing at Alex. "Thank you, I try"

Claire looked me up and down, like she was trying to figure out what my angle was. "You're… tall and handsome young man, obviously. I bet the girls at school are always after you."

I laughed, shaking my head. "Not really. I mean, I have friends, but I'm not exactly the school heartthrob. Besides, I'd rather focus on my projects and, you know, biology homework."

Alex blushed, ducking her head, and I could see Claire's expression soften, just a little.

"Well, that's good to hear," Claire said. "It's important to have goals. Speaking of which, what are your plans after high school?"

I leaned back, feeling a little more comfortable. "I have still not decided, yet."

She talked to me for a few minutes before going away . "Alright, I'll leave you two to your project."

"Of course, Mrs. Dunphy," I said, giving her a nod, smiling.

Alex rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed by her mother but I could tell she was relieved. Claire left us alone, but every now and then she'd pop her head in, just to make sure we were still working and not… well, not doing what we'd been doing upstairs.

We got back to work, but the atmosphere was lighter now. Alex was laughing at my dumb jokes, and I was feeling pretty good about having survived the 'Dunphy Mom Interrogation'. I could see why Alex turned out the way she did-with a mom like that, you either learned to be tough or you learned to be clever. Alex was both.

We made good progress and figured we'd be able to finish tomorrow. That's when Haley and Luke came into the living room, looking for Alex.

"We need you, Alex, to beat Ruben," Haley said.

Luke added, "We lost in cards and he took all our money."

Alex rolled her eyes. "I don't care," she said, not wanting anything to do with that creep.

Haley tried to convince her, but Alex wasn't budging-until Haley dropped the bomb.

"Ruben is telling everyone he kissed you and slipped in the tongue as well."

Alex's eyes flashed. "Let's go," she said, suddenly fired up.

I followed, already plotting how to make Ruben regret ever saying her name. This was going to be interesting
