Chapter 10 - Flaxan Invasion Part 2

William was in the air, spinning like an arrow as he brought his leg down on one of the alien's shoulders.

CRACK

The bones in his shoulder broke into several distinct pieces, preventing the arm from functioning properly and causing it to slump helplessly towards the ground.

Before the aliens' companions could lift their weapons toward William

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

A series of small golden orbs had stuck themselves onto the weapon's energy source, and a series of small explosions rang out as the alien rifles were rendered useless scraps of metal.

Dropping their weapons, the aliens charge at William from three sides with pure hatred and rage boiling in their eyes.

One of the aliens suddenly lunged at William with his fist raised, while the one behind him to his left attempted to sweep his leg.

William grabbed the fist of the alien, who was shocked at his surprising strength.

According to the info they gained, humans were not supposed to be this strong.

The alien behind William slammed his foot into the back of William's knee, causing him to lose his footing, but with a swift twist of his body, he caught himself with his other hand and twisted his body in an impossible way.

William grits his teeth as a spray of blood leaves his mouth due to the ripping and tearing of several of his organs, but thankfully, his ability kicked in and repaired the damage and even somewhat strengthened his formerly torn organs.

As he completed the twist, he brought his foot into the face of the alien that had struck his knee and jerked the one who punched him to the ground and used the surprised alien to break his fall at the cost of the creature's ribs.

The third alien scrambled to kick William off his companions, but before he could deliver the kick, he was suddenly attacked by a group of three Kates.

These clones had survived the majority of the battle and were looking mostly worse for wear, with their uniforms torn and bloodied in different areas.

William held both of the screaming aliens on the ground as they continuously struggled to overpower him to no avail.

"GYAK!"

Getting annoyed at the alien's resistance, he grasps one by the neck and lifts him into the air while pressing his foot into the chest of the other.

"GAAAAAAHHH!"

The one on the ground spat out blood as William began applying pressure with his foot, the creature's armor deforming under the strain.

"WENG... SQUELCH!"

The armor began to bend inward at a quicker pace before the material finally gave up the struggle, and his foot stomped hard into the creature's chest.

BOOM

The ground lightly cracked around the alien's body as the impact formed a blood-filled crater in the shape of a foot when William removed his foot.

"HYAK!"

The alien in his hands shivered seeing this and began to thrash around to save himself, only for William to begin squeezing with his hand.

CRUNCH

A look of surprise appeared in the alien's strange eyes before the light of life slowly left him, and he finally ceased all resistance and movement.

William looked over to see Kate tearing off the suit of the struggling alien when she ripped a certain device free of its placement on his armor suddenly, the alien began to scream out catching both William and Kate off guard as he began to age at a visible rate.

"Interesting! x2"

Both William and Kate said at the same time, eliciting a chuckle from the latter.

Kate formed a makeshift bullhorn with her hands and yelled out, "Hey Rex, blow up their backpacks!"

Rex, who was in the middle of feeding an alien one of his explosives in response to the alien attempting to bite his arm, kicked the alien away and looked over in confusion.

He saw Kate and William standing in an area now devoid of aliens and saw her waving at him.

"BLOW UP THEIR BACKPACKS?"

He asked, confused, but seeing the alien below her slowly but surely turning from an old man into a mummified corpse, he understood.

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

Six explosive orbs appeared between his fingers, and he began throwing them towards any aliens with their backs to him causing them to not only go flying but to begin aging rapidly before they can even recover.

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

Another group of explosions rang out as Rex now had a maddened look in his eyes, clearly enjoying the feeling of conflict, but suddenly, a much larger alien appeared in front of him wearing some sort of higher tier of armor and delivered a solid kick to Rex in his ribs.

Crack

Rex's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he felt the massive, armored foot into his ribs, and he could feel several of his ribs breaking before being launched backward in an unwilling flight.

Before Rex could hit his head while being carried by such force, a pink energy took the form of a slide and slowed his movement to a safe level while he recovered.

However, the large alien was not about to let him off so easily.

SHATTER!

Rex struggled to lift his head to see the large alien punching the pink construct, causing it to shatter on impact as he continued to approach at an increasing pace.

"Oh, looks like I've got a fan... sorry, no autographs!"

Rex said while grabbing some more explosive material from his pouch and began molding it together like a massive beach ball.

The mass of explosive light in his hand crackled with energy, and it had reached a point that it had become rather unstable, but before Rex could throw it, a beam of energy from a nearby alien rifle hit him in his hand!

"SONOFA BITCH!"

He yelled out in both pain and rage as the trump card he had been creating shot off in the wrong direction and began moving towards Kate and William, who had no idea of the approaching danger because they had their own battles in front of them.

The large alien laughed at Rex's failure and continued to pummel his way through the pink construct that Eve struggled to maintain.

Eve screamed out as she lost the ability to maintain the construct and fell backward with sweat trickling from her forehead.

William, hearing the final scream, turned his head to see a basketball-sized ball of unstably glowing explosive material, causing his eyes to turn into pinholes.

"REX, WHAT THE HELL?"

He yelled as he ran forward, and with both hands placed in front of him, he collided with the strange glowing mass.

WHOOSH...Ctch

William managed to catch the blazing orb in his hands, but he had to grit his teeth to the point of nearly cracking due to the searing pain.

It felt like he was being forced to touch a stove when the coils were nearly white, but through sheer grit and determination, he fought through the searing pain and choking black smoke and moved forward.

The veins in William's arms threatened to explode from within his arms and neck, and several blood vessels burst within his eyes, giving him a sort of demonic appearance as he continued to struggle forward.

He had to move to a spot where he would cause the least damage to his side, so he was moving ever closer to the portal, which continuously spat out new troops.

POW

POW

POW

POW

The large alien had finally punched its way through the construct protecting Rex when he noticed a human in the distance pushing the glowing orb towards the portal, and his eyes turned bloodshot as he threw Rex to the side and charged at William with speed that was odd considering his size.

"AAAGGGGHHH!"

The large, armored alien had white foam in the corner of its mouth as it ran up next to William and attempted to slam its fists into the human's head, but William, noticing the large alien's approach, merely smiled as they were already too close to the portal.

He held the bomb to his chest, causing the flesh on his chest to begin searing as well, but he ignored the searing pain of his skin burning as he lunged forward towards the armored alien and slammed his shoulder hard into its stomach.

CRCK

The explosive in William's grip let out the sound of cracked marble, and suddenly the light began to intensify the light catching everyone's attention, regardless of whether they were friend or foe.

"NOOOOO William!!! X3"

Rex, Kate, and Eve simultaneously began screaming out for William, but he merely held out his fist and gave them a thumbs up.

A tear dropped from Eve's eyes as she formed a barrier around the rest of the team, and she turned to look away.

Kate attempted to smash through the barrier as she yelled out, tears streaming down her face, and Rex only sat there on his knees, the feeling of fault weighing on him like a planet.

BANG

BANG

BANG

BANG

The armored alien pummeled William, who continued to cling to him despite this, and within seconds, he was reduced to a bloody mess as the bones all over his body were constantly being broken and reformed however, his hands continued to hold fast despite the pain.

BANG

BANG

BANG

BANG

A look of desperation appeared on the face of the alien who punched and kneed William's bloody body and finally managed to break free of his grip.

The armored alien began to flee, but mere milliseconds went by after he turned his back before the glowing orb that had begun to fuse with William's flesh lost the ability to contain the power within, and suddenly the light became as bright as the sun.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The team, as well as the guardians fighting the aliens nearby, were forced to hold their hands over their faces as a small, contained but insanely powerful explosive suddenly went off.

Flames...

Searing...

Burning...

Whatever consciousness that remained within William, screamed out in agony, he could feel the very cells in his body boiling under the intense sun-like heat.

His healing could only keep him upright for moments before the last vestiges of muscles were scorched clean, and when the explosion finally ceased, the only thing remaining was a flame-blackened and brittle skeleton.

Tears streamed heavily down Eve and Kate's faces, and Rex fell to the ground and began punching it, the self-loathing becoming visible for all to see.

Robot, however, was as cold as ever, but within his main body, he had a slightly confused look on his misshapen face as he thought.

"This is strange, he has come back from everything else nearly instantaneously, is there a limit?"

As he said this, he saw the screaming large alien he was fighting being dragged through the portal by the rest of his men, although he was still alive, his lower torso was completely missing.

Around William's skeleton and the crater formed due to the explosion, several charred remains of aliens, not quick enough to escape, began to fall apart like they were reduced to pure carbon and the horrific sight along with the traumatizing explosion caused what remaining aliens to flee towards the portal if they could and into the shadows of the city if they could not make it.

As if to punctuate the end of the battle, the portal snapped shut, and simultaneously, William's flame-blackened skeleton finally crumbled.

Eve scooped up his remains with a pink construct in the form of a petri dish and sealed it to prevent any outside contaminants before the bloodied Guardians approached with sad expressions on their faces.

Together, they mourned the loss of a truly heroic young man.

Outside the area of battle, a group of four Flaxan aliens congregated in an empty warehouse, some were missing arms, others a leg or an eye, but they were alive, and with life came chance.

They could not signal their side of their presence as they were mere cannon fodder class soldiers, and as such, were merely given a weapon, some armor, and rations.

The group conversed in their native tongue for many minutes before one of them suddenly sat up and pointed his rifle towards the darkness of the rest of the warehouse.

He could have sworn he saw a human standing there, but when he looked back up with his weapon drawn, the man was just gone, so the Flaxan sighed, thinking that it was all in his head.

He sat down once again and began conversing once more, unknowing of the shadows under one of his companions' sidearms swirling menacingly before the alien pistol fell into the shadow and disappeared.

TCH

TCH

TCH

TCH

The sound of quick but shuffling movements suddenly put the Flaxans on guard, and one of them suddenly realized his weapon was missing.

Shining a light on the surrounding shadows with an attachment on the rifle, the alien spun slowly in an attempt to catch sight of what was moving, only to see a human standing in a corner facing the wall, while he appeared to be shivering.

Thinking it was just a regular human, the unarmed Flaxan walked up to the human and, with a domineering look on his alien face, roughly grabbed the human on the shoulder and forcibly spun him around, only to see a pair of lifeless purple eyes.

The other aliens looked on with strange expressions on their faces as they waited to see what was going on, but they were unaware that the strange dark human was currently applying pressure to the Flaxan's neck while its other hand was digging mercilessly through the alien's chest.

SQUELCH

The hand suddenly punched through the other side of the Flaxan's chest with a still-beating heart in its hand.

PEW

The other Flaxans immediately opened fire upon both their companion and the strange shadowy human, turning both of them into Swiss cheese with smoking holes drilled through both of them.

They approached the smoking remains of their companion and the human with their weapons still trained on the human who lay there motionless, the purple light in its eyes dim but still present.

BOOOM

A gunshot rang out, and a purple light passed through the forehead of one of the Flaxan's

The Flaxans all spun around in a panic and saw a human standing there with the missing sidearm in his hand, which seemed to have shadows flowing into it from his hand, and a grey light emanated from the barrel.

The Human stood as the shadows clung to him like a protective cloak, his lower face covered by a shadowy mask that appeared to look like the jaw of a skeleton.

A dense purple light in his eyes flashed with menace, causing the Flaxans to fire upon him instinctively.

PEW

As the beams of light closed in on the strange human, the shadows surrounding him seemingly swelled in his defense, forming a solid barrier made of the naturally formless.

The human smiled demonically as the purple in his eyes flashed and the two corpses behind the Flaxans suddenly regained life, although the one that was previously a Flaxan was quite distinct in its appearance compared to the human but both of them as if by prior agreement grabbed one of the still living Flaxans and bit into their necks.

"AAAAHHHHHHHHH....! x2"

Their screams caused the final Flaxan to stumble forward, unknowingly moving closer to the strange human who started this, the alien's eyes wide in horror as he watched his companions be torn in half by the shadowy enemies, only to stand back up wrapped in the same deadly shadows.

The shadowy enemies that were his former companions slowly crawled and walked towards him with hunger in their purple eyes, and the Flaxan continued to crawl backward towards the human.

Suddenly, the alien's own shadow came to life and transformed into a dense spike before shooting upwards and impaling the alien in place, the spike sticking fast through his chest, and although it avoided any of his vital organs, it effectively pinned him down.

Conor, who was watching from his shadowy position, merely smiled as he watched the shadowy minions, whom he now had command over, slowly approach and begin devouring and tearing at the last living Flaxan in the warehouse.

The ending of which was punctuated by the sound of a chest cavity being torn open, and the final signs of life left the Flaxan, whose heart was now visible to those outside.

Suddenly, the heart that had stopped beating was engulfed in shadowy purple flames and began beating once more, pumping the shadows through his veins instead of blood.

The new minion's eyes shot open in a purple light, ushering in the former Flaxan to his new life, and Conor or the thing within him now smiled as he welcomed a new member of his growing army.
