Chapter 19 - Work Life Matters Too

Several days have gone by and the people are still talking about the deliciousness of Lily Rain's new delicacies.

"Hurry! Hurry, I say!… Today, I must secure a fat portion of KFC chickens to gnaw at."

"What? Old Thomas, you're here as well? How—… HEY, you bastard! How dare you try cutting the line when I'm distracted?"

"Ah! Ah! Ah! Lily Rain has now become my number-one eatery. Lalalala~… Lalalala~… Taco Bells…Taco Bells…I can smell them now."

"Hey! Isn't that Christopher? Chris boy, haven't you always been interested in my little girl? Leave your chicken behind and I swear I will bless the union!"

"Good buddy, for the sake of us being neighbors, I swear that if you hand over your goods, I'll overlook your ugliness and start treating you better."

"Bah! I'm ugly and I know it! Why should I give you my Taco Bells just for you to look at me?"

...

The battle of wits outside the Lily Rain was brutal. Many had long forgotten what shame was, fighting their way and hunching their backs over like rugby players clearing the path.

Those going in were defending their surroundings, ensuring no one cut the line, while those going out were also doing the same, ensuring no one grabbed their packages and made a run for it.

Believe them, you have no idea what the situation has been like during these past few days.

The local thieves seemed to understand the deliciousness of the food here and now plotted with evil intent to rob them of their food. The thieves had even forgotten to steal their money, only focusing on stealing their meals.

That was how good this food was. It got so bad that the law enforcers had to patrol these parts like crazy, making many look at them with watery eyes of gratitude.

"Thank you… thank you for saving my food. I could have committed suicide if those bastards had succeeded!"

"Yes, yes! Law enforcers, please take them away and never release them again! How dare they steal my Taco bells and KFC?"

[Law Enforcers]:… (-_-)

Aren't you all exaggerating here? Do you know that your lives were also at stake, and not just your Taco Bells and KFC?

Where are your priorities?

[Everyone else]: Priorities? What was that? Can they eat it?

Those who could retrieve their food from the vicious thieves were banging and barring their fangs beating the thieves to be burned alive on a stake for the atrocity they just committed.

I'm telling you, they felt the pain in their chests when their food was stolen. The law enforcers even started feeling pity for the thieves, but soon changed their minds when the thieves proudly raised their heads as if they did a good deed.

"Worth it! It was all worth it!"

"—"

The law Enforcers helplessly looked at each other, dragging the thieves away despite the victims who were now biting the thieves viciously.

It was incredible how things turned out.

-------

[Victims]: How dare you steal my Taco Bells and KFC? Looking for death?… What? How come you already ate two pieces of chicken while on the run? Compensate! You must compensate me!

[Thieves]: Hmph! Worth it. I have no regrets!

[Law Enforcers]:… "—"

-------

What is this world they have just stumbled upon?

Who can tell them what is going on here?

Maybe the wax in their ears was too much today and their hearing was off, but was all this truly because of a piece of chicken and a strange meal called Taco Bells?

Hello? Who can tell them what was truly going on here?

All around the scene, people kept steadily going in and out of Lily Rain, yet the line never died down. Overnight, the place no longer looked resolute, with new furniture placed on site and the overall atmosphere feeling good.

Those who ate inside praised Lily Rain for the new dishes. And even those who took the meals for their families sang its praises nonstop. Some even wanted to save enough money to go to Lily Rain on their birthdays.

Hey, this was the first one they had ever heard of such long-discounted periods before.

Yes!

Lily Rain was giving everyone 35% off all meals for the first five days after their reopening.

Today was day seven, and people were still flying in like crazy even after the discount period was over.

They thought Lily Rain was making a loss, but in just these few days, do you know how much money Lily Rain has gathered?

Unbelievable!

If somebody had said it was possible, Chef Zigg would have thrown his knife at them like crazy. But facts have proven that their young master might truly be the God of wealth.

In just four days, they have made 16 times the monthly earnings the eatery usually makes per month.

Chef Zigg was afraid that after the fifth day, not many people would show up. But yesterday and today proved that it wasn't the discounted prices that made people come back.

The food itself was unforgettable, and the atmosphere here was also very good.

So far… so good…

In a back room of Lily Rain, several people met. There were now five Managers he selected from his staff.

As a person who was still used to the modern working schedules, Julius still felt the need to implement such little matters in his plans.

In this era, people can work for 12 hours every single day of the week. Julius felt that was just overkill. They overwork their bodies and hardly take care of themselves, making the life expectancy so low.

That was why he decided that those who work under him will only work 8~9 hours a day and have at least two days off a week.

He now has five Managers. Since they were managers, it meant their pay was higher and they had to at least stay back for an extra hour after the staff on their shifts go.

So they might sometimes have to work 9~10 hours a day. However, he will give them three days off.

Understand that there was no overnight work in this era yet since at curfew hours, all establishments must shut down and everyone must be indoors.

The Gates close at 11 PM, but curfew time for street walking is 2 AM.

That said, after 1 PM, everyone is given at most till 2 AM to get their asses back home.

After Two, those found loitering will be locked up!
