In the world of [DHFTW], there exists a tale—told like a fairy tale—of a savior from a distant land.
It tells the story of a knight named Gen, portrayed as a brave warrior and a source of motivation for all players.
He fought valiantly to defend his homeland, aided by a mysterious man who helped him drive out the forces of evil. After defeating their enemies, Gen married his fiancée, Rose. Following the wedding, his companion prepared to leave and said:
"May the two of you be blessed with happiness and a peaceful life."
"And that goes for you too, Gen. You're always sleeping in—your wife's going to have a tough time dealing with that!"
Those words left Gen embarrassed, while Rose smiled at her husband's silly habits. The man then left through a portal, but not before offering his final words:
"Become stronger."
"Goodbye, my comrade. A new life awaits you."
He vanished with a smile and a thumbs-up.
But here's the strange part—Gen is here.
And yet… why does he look so plain compared to his in-game appearance designed by the developers? (He was supposed to look way more handsome.)
"Hmm… if I may ask—why were you being chased by a monster and poisoned with such a deadly toxin?"
Gen took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves.
"Actually, I was guiding a group of refugees with my comrades. Just as we were approaching our destination…"
"We were ambushed by Undead. We defeated them, but…"
"We failed to analyze the type of Undead we were facing. The ones we fought were a kind that can merge into a larger form when their bodies are completely destroyed."
"So, I chose to act as bait—to buy time so my comrades and the refugees could get to safety."
Ace then asked how Gen had been poisoned.
"Ah, about the poison…"
"To draw its attention, I had to scratch it a little—but that backfired on me. Still, all my comrades and the refugees made it out safely and brought me here to the forest."
"I'm grateful you saved me."
"Ah, it's no big deal. Just a coincidence, really."
Shortly after, Ren and Caiber joined them. Caiber was shocked to see that the injured man was Gen. They saluted each other respectfully.
Ace was surprised too—because in the game, these characters weren't supposed to know each other. It made him wonder… could this be a hidden easter egg?
While Ace was lost in thought, Gen glanced over and asked curiously:
"Caiber, is Ace your fiancé?"
That question made Caiber's face turn red with embarrassment.
"Hey! Gen, what are you talking about?!"
Caiber tried to keep her composure, blushing. For some reason, Ren looked a bit jealous.
"Haha! Didn't you once say that you'd only get engaged to someone who matches your ideal preferences? You even said you'd follow him to the ends of the earth."
"W-Well… that's true, but…"
Gen burst into laughter at Caiber's reaction, while Ace smiled sheepishly, feeling a little awkward himself.
"Alright, let's put that aside for now. We need to focus on helping the group reach safety."
They gathered and began forming a strategy to get the refugees to the location Gen had mentioned.
The night passed as they planned. By morning, they were ready to begin the operation—with Gen leading at the front, and Caiber staying inside the wagon with the others.
A young child approached Caiber nervously.
"Big sis… will this plan really get us somewhere safe?"
"Hmm, don't worry. We'll get there. So don't be afraid, okay? Everyone's out there protecting you."
The child nodded and smiled, comforted by her words.
Meanwhile, Ace and Ren kept watch from the treetops, sniping enemies from a distance using long-range magic.
Their group headed northeast, toward a fortress that had been turned into a refugee shelter.
After a long journey and a tough battle, they finally reached the gates. Gen signaled the guards with a special gesture, showing that he was still alive.
The soldiers inside believed him, as they saw the signs of healing magic on his body.
The gate slowly opened, and the group entered safely—
BOOM!!!
A violent impact shook the ground from another direction. A terrifying monster appeared—it had the body of a goat, stood upright like a human, and held a deadly throwing weapon in its right hand.
It let out a roar toward the gate, preparing to attack.
Ace, seeing this, immediately took command.
"Get everyone inside! Close the gate—don't let that thing in!"
"Ren, let's move!"
"Got it! Let's go!"
Ren transformed into a samurai weapon, and Ace grabbed him—rushing straight at the monster.
Their weapons clashed in a thunderous impact that echoed across the battlefield.
