Chapter 15 – The All-Seeing Eye
Ha-Joon woke up early that morning, just as the sun began to rise over the horizon. The golden, soft light filtered through the curtains, casting a faint glow across the still-silent room. The air was cool, and the city outside was just beginning to stir. After a quick breakfast — crunchy toast and a bitter sip of black coffee — he headed to the bathroom. In front of the mirror, he looked at his reflection, running his fingers through his messy hair before taking a deep breath.
Ha-Joon (thinking):
"Today's the day... Time to enter another dungeon. I need to be fully prepared."
He examined himself carefully, analyzing his physical condition. Thanks to the Dragon Slayer's magic, his physical attributes had improved remarkably. His magical energy was also growing with every battle, pulsing through his body like an invisible river of power. But something still bothered him — a gap that, if ignored, could cost him his life.
Ha-Joon (determined):
"Perception… That's my weakest point right now. If I can't detect enemies or sense ambushes, I'm done for. So, what kind of skill can fix this?"
Three names immediately came to mind: Sharingan, Byakugan, and Observation Haki. All powerful. All legendary. He crossed his arms and pondered in front of the foggy mirror.
Ha-Joon:
"The Sharingan is stylish, sure... but in terms of pure perception, it loses to the other two. Not to mention it needs emotional triggers and evolution to reach its real potential. That one's out."
He leaned on the sink, lost in thought.
Ha-Joon:
"Observation Haki is amazing. You can feel intentions and even glimpse the future… But it would take insane training to master, and I'm not summoning characters to help me right now. Way too inefficient."
A small smile appeared on his lips.
Ha-Joon:
"That leaves only one option… the Byakugan. 360-degree vision, long-range visual reach, and the ability to see the flow of energy — in this world, mana. Perfect."
Decided, he activated the power. His eyes changed instantly. The veins around them bulged, and a pale light emerged from his irises. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, fascinated by the transformation.
Ha-Joon (smiling):
"I'm really living my childhood dream… Having my own dojutsu."
Curious, he approached the window and activated the Byakugan at full power. The world around him expanded in an almost overwhelming way — walls, trees, buildings… Even the people inside them were no longer a mystery. Nothing escaped his gaze now.
Ha-Joon (amazed):
"I can see clearly up to a kilometer away. These glowing lines inside people… That must be mana. Not even Sung Jin-Woo's stealth would work against me now."
Satisfied, he deactivated the ability and grabbed his jacket hanging on the door. He zipped it up with a swift motion and cast one last glance around the silent apartment.
Ha-Joon:
"Preparations complete. Time to go."
After a long walk through the busy streets, he finally arrived at the dungeon meeting point. Car horns blared in the distance, and the chatter of rushed workers filled the morning air. Near the entrance, a familiar figure awaited him — Sung Jin-Woo.
But he was different.
His stance was firmer, his gaze colder. An aura of power surrounded him like an invisible cloak.
Ha-Joon (thinking):
"If I didn't know the story… I wouldn't even recognize him. He's changed a lot."
Jin-Woo noticed his approach and nodded discreetly, a rare smile appearing at the corner of his lips.
Sung Jin-Woo:
"You actually came. I thought you'd left dungeons behind."
Ha-Joon (shrugging):
"My manga royalties haven't come in yet… And bills don't pay themselves. So, I figured I'd go back to my old job — for now."
Before they could continue the conversation, a broad-shouldered man approached. His presence was imposing, his face hard to read. He extended his hand with a firm handshake.
Hwang Dongsuk:
"You must be the friend Jin-Woo mentioned. It'll be a pleasure working with you."
Ha-Joon:
"Thanks for the opportunity."
Hwang Dongsuk (with a slight smile):
"Don't mention it... Alright everyone, let's move!"
As the group organized itself, preparing to enter the dungeon, Dongsuk cast a quick glance at Ha-Joon. The smile vanished, replaced by a grim expression.
Hwang Dongsuk (thinking):
"Nothing special. One more dead E-rank… They're all disposable."
Suddenly, a cheerful young man came running up, a radiant smile on his face.
Yoo Jin-Ho:
"Nice to meet you all! I'm Yoo Jin-Ho. You can count on me in this dungeon!"
Ha-Joon couldn't hold back a muffled laugh. The scene in front of him looked like it had come straight out of the anime he knew so well. He cast an amused glance at Jin-Woo, who turned his face away, clearly embarrassed.
Ha-Joon (thinking):
"This is hilarious. It's like watching the anime come to life before my eyes."
But he quickly pulled himself together. He wasn't there just to observe. He had a role to play and a future to build.
Ha-Joon (serious):
"Alright. Enough messing around. Let's see what this dungeon has to offer."
He followed the group toward the portal, his heart beating strongly — not with fear, but with anticipation. As he crossed the threshold into the unknown, he knew this was just the beginning. The real challenges were yet to come.
And with the Byakugan at his side, he was ready to face anything.
