Chapter 15 - Magic Bullets

Although the man was surprised that this boy had not bent down to grab the money, he still responded, feeling annoyed.

"There's no way she'll take it. I've offered it to her more than five times and tried to grab her, but she's very slippery. Damn, it's no wonder she works as a spy." He complained, giving away information without even realizing it.

Although his companions noticed, no one said anything this time. They couldn't do anything; they also had a certain interest in that woman, but unfortunately, she was too slippery to catch.

But Louis finally understood.

'I see. So he wants me to sell her,' Louis sneered.

"What nonsense." He spoke.

"Huh?" The man planned to yell at him because his words angered him, but suddenly, his head was being pressed against a firearm.

At some point, Louis had drawn it and was holding it to his forehead.

"It has eight bullets, all of them high-caliber. With my current power, how many do you think you can take?"

The man trembled. 'An Awakened Armamentalist?' he thought.

He was a normal person, not an Awakened one. How could he even think of taking any of those bullets?

So he lowered his gaze and dropped the wad of cash to the floor. "Spare my life," he whispered fearfully.

Louis stared at him for a minute and then sneered.

"Tsk, since you had the guts to ask me to sell you to someone, I thought you'd at least know how to fight." Louis then put his gun away and looked at those who were staring at him in shock, fear in their eyes.

"Do you have my ID ready? I don't intend to work for you—I made that clear before. I intend to work WITH you. Being an Awakened, I think we can collaborate on some things. But if you don't have any positions available, then there's nothing to do, " he declared.

"S... Sir, sorry about that." One of them quickly stood up and glared fiercely at his companion before walking over to Louis.

"As I said before, we're not looking for subordinates, but if you plan to complete missions as an Awakened One, we can give you a credential for that. You'll have to follow certain rules, but you'll be free to do as you please for the most part. You'll be able to complete missions with us at that time."

Louis nodded. He didn't know if this guy was lying to him or being sincere, but since they would allow him to take on missions, which would then turn into money and power for him, it was fine.

"If that's the case, prepare it for me."

"Yes, sir. We'll have it ready in a moment." After saying that, he went back to work, ignoring his stupid colleague. In less than 20 minutes, Louis received his fake ID card and a new card identifying him as a member of this clandestine organization.

They explained the rules and everything else to him, but Louis didn't care. He just needed a place with missions that wouldn't investigate his System, and this was the perfect place.

They didn't even ask him where he actually lived or what family he belonged to. Maybe they would investigate him secretly, but at least he had gotten rid of some problems and would now have an important source of missions.

Once everything was done, they burned the parchment where they had written his information.

After that, Louis left.

Outside, the girl was still waiting patiently for him.

When she saw him come out, she smiled at him.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes. We can go."

She nodded, and they both left the way they had come.

Outside, Louis looked at his ID.

"Louis Carwine, huh." He smiled when he saw the surname they had given him. It was made of good material, so the quality was excellent.

"Sir, do you need me to continue guiding you? Where are you going now?" the girl beside him asked.

Louis looked at her and nodded. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Jessy, sir."

"Good, Jessy. I need to buy bullets for a magic firearm. Do you know where I can find some?"

"Magic bullets?" She looked thoughtful and went over the places she knew that sold them. "I know a place. The Cursed Blacksmith on the outskirts of the Industrial Zone always sells them, but he's a bit of a loan shark, even though no one buys magic bullets around here the price with him is always high."

"The price is right, take me there. I need to buy a few."

Jessy said nothing more. She started walking and directing him to different places. They walked through dark alleys, where needy people were on either side.

After a long walk, they arrived in the poorest neighborhood and entered the largest building in the area. It looked like it was falling apart and was dirty. The smell was terrible, to the point that Louis had to hold his breath several times to stand it.

From outside, they could hear the sound of a hammer hitting metal, which led them to the source of the noise.

When they arrived, a man covered in dark clothes that made it impossible to see his face was hammering metal nonstop. He didn't seem to get tired.

He struck repeatedly until Jessy's voice pulled him out of his world of forging.

"Mr. Gon, I brought a customer," she said.

Mr. Gon shuddered and looked up, but when he saw that it was her, he sighed. "Girl, I've often told you to knock before you come in."

"I did, Mr. Gon, but you didn't answer, so I had no choice. I can't keep the customer waiting."

Mr. Gon grimaced before wiping the sweat from his brow and sitting down.

"Well, who is this rich boy? Why would he come to a small blacksmith's shop like mine?"

"Mr. Gon, he's not a rich boy. I've been guiding him since he's new in town and wants to buy magic bullets, so I brought him to you."

Gon looked Louis up and down. "Silver hair, blue eyes... Kid, you have an interesting bloodline. Are you an Awakened One?" he asked.

Louis nodded.

"That's why I'm buying magic bullets."

"Haha, right, right. What kind of bullets are you looking for? I have a wide variety." He pointed behind him.

"I need 357, nothing else."

"Okay, good power and good magical results. I understand. I have three different qualities of that category right now." The man turned around and grabbed several boxes resting behind him. Then he placed them on the work table.

"These are 279 Jens per bullet. These others are 549, and the most expensive ones are 899. I have boxes of 6, 8, and 10 bullets. Which ones do you want? The minimum purchase is one box for the magic bullets."
