Chapter 29 - I Want to Have a Home (Part Four)

Crown Prince's Residence

Qian Renxue breathed a sigh of relief when she saw she was once again the lucky viewer. Looks like my miserable life might just be redeemed after all!

But...

With more and more people now having copies of the diary, the things Qian Renxue wanted to know couldn't be asked in it anymore.

So how should I use it now?

Lying on her bed, her elegant figure twisting this way and that, Qian Renxue pondered, What should I ask tomorrow?

Now that she couldn't ask about what she really wanted to know, the best way to use it was to write about someone specific. If their name appeared often enough, they'd get a fixed upgrade of a millennium spirit ring the next day.

There was no way she could write about herself.

But...

She had already written about Bibi Dong last time. Could she do it again?

After much contemplation, Qian Renxue finally settled on the subject — Hu Liena!

Each entry brought a reward. Since Qian Renxue couldn't claim the reward herself, and she wasn't sure if Bibi Dong could still be written about, this time she decided to gift it to Hu Liena.

Meanwhile, on the road from Holy Soul Village to Soto City, Xiao Wu suddenly jumped up in shock from her bed at the inn.

"What?! What?! Other people get a level of spirit power, and I get... a box of honey-glazed carrots?!"

Xiao Wu was furious. What kind of rigged game is this? How could a box of carrots possibly compare to a full level of spirit power?!

She glared at the box she'd received as her reward from the diary copy, filled with neatly arranged carrot sticks, her expression full of disdain.

"Even if Xiao Wu has to starve or jump out the window, I won't eat this targeted garbage."

And yet...

The sweet, enticing aroma wafted through the air. Xiao Wu's mouth began to water, and she stared in disbelief.

"Oh my god... why do these carrots smell so good?"

Maybe... just one bite?

Next thing you know—

Xiao Wu was sitting on the bed, grabbing handfuls of carrot sticks from the box and stuffing them into her mouth.

"Oh man, this is delicious!" she muttered through full cheeks.

Spirit power can be trained anytime, but carrots this tasty? Now that's a once-in-a-lifetime delicacy.

The next morning.

Tang San stepped out of the room next door and knocked on Xiao Wu's door.

"Xiao Wu, are you up yet? We've got to get going."

"Coming, coming!"

Xiao Wu opened the door, walking out while rubbing her now noticeably round belly.

"You... Xiao Wu???"

Tang San was horrified. Did someone beat me to the punch while I wasn't paying attention?!

Damn it! I haven't even made a move yet and someone else already planted their flag?!

Xiao Wu said smugly:

"What are you looking at? I just overate yesterday. Still haven't digested it all."

God, those carrots were insanely good... An entire box full—now I'm too full to walk properly!

Tang San let out a deep breath and replied calmly:

"Mm. Eat less at night. Let's get moving."

Xiao Wu nodded, hesitated a bit, then asked:

"Tang San, are we really going to Shrek Academy? I... I don't want to be around too many people. Maybe we should just go back to Holy Soul Village?"

Tang San gave her a strange look. She'd asked this many times already, so he explained again:

"It's okay. Teacher said Shrek Academy is in a small village. They only accept monsters—there aren't that many people."

Xiao Wu sighed and said no more.

She understood well—unless she returned to Star Dou Forest, she could be found no matter where she went.

Sunset Forest

Su Chen and his group continued their journey.

[Today is a great day!][Yesterday I went to Heaven Dou Academy to find Dugu Yan and unexpectedly ran into Ye Lingling. What an ideal wife! I didn't hesitate—pursued her on the spot.][Then I bumped into Liu Erlong. This feisty little dragoness got a taste of my Frost Fist and immediately cooled off.][So now, I've come to Sunset Forest to start mowing down enemies. I'm thrilled. Once this mission's done, I'll head back to see Hu Liena. Hope Nana isn't too heartbroken.]

Heaven Dou City Branch Hall

Hu Liena was stunned.

"Seriously? We've only been apart for one afternoon. We just made our relationship official yesterday, and now I'm no longer your only one?"

"Even if... even if just for a night, couldn't you have given me a bit of exclusivity?"

"Boohoohoo—Su Chen, you bastard! Just wait till you come back. I'll bite you to death!"

But as she continued reading, her feelings became more complicated—and she felt a twinge of pain for him.

[As a transmigrator, I was originally an orphan. The moment my memories awakened, I became the loneliest person in this world. No relatives. No friends. Yet deep in my heart, I gained a new hometown.]

[A lonely soul in a foreign land. Missing home more during holidays. Knowing my brothers are climbing high, yet one is missing among the crowd.]

[If I remember correctly, my memories stopped right after Chinese New Year in my old world. Everyone was gathered with family, while I got blown sky-high by a firecracker tossed down a manhole by some brat.]

[Whenever I think about it, my heart aches. That's why I want to marry more wives, have more kids. I want a big, warm family—a place to belong.]

[Oh right... today's diary entry is supposed to be about Hu Liena???]

(Friendly Reminder: New Year's is near. Please don't throw firecrackers into manholes or sewers—it can cause serious explosions. Stay safe!)

Su Chen was jotting down his diary, realizing today's entry had gotten unexpectedly deep.

At that moment—

Ye Lingling suddenly grabbed Su Chen's hand. Dugu Yan turned from up ahead and gave him a gentle smile.

Spirit Hall

Bibi Dong read Su Chen's diary, feeling... something wasn't quite right.

"You want a home? A small one would've been fine. But no—you want a big home?"

Longing and loneliness...

So that's your excuse for being a heartless womanizer?!

Bibi Dong had a hunch—Su Chen was using this as justification for building his harem.

But… she had no proof.

Crown Prince's Residence

Qian Renxue murmured softly:

"A lonely soul in a foreign land. Missing home more during holidays."

"Su Chen… maybe only I understand you. Only I know that feeling of homesick solitude, especially during important days like these."

She sighed, uncertain when all this would end—when she could return to Spirit Hall and be with her grandfather again.

Spirit Hall Branch

Hu Liena felt a pang of sympathy after reading this.

That's right.

Su Chen had no friends or family in this world, yet now carried the weight of a new homeland in his heart.

In that moment—

Hu Liena remembered what Su Chen said at Spirit Academy:

"Hu Liena, you're my first friend here."

She smiled sweetly.

I'm his first friend.I'm his first girlfriend.

Wait a minute—

Wasn't yesterday's lucky viewer Qian Renxue?!

Why is today's diary about me? Oh no… I'm doomed. That bastard Su Chen warned me from the start that he's a two-faced traitor. Today I won't escape unscathed...

Hu Liena started to panic.

"Teacher, please believe me!"
